Yeah, I'd say that the Chicago crew is largely comprised of good actors, with Jim being the secret weapon. The only exception I'd say is Rob who's not bad per se, but he always performs his roles with an ironic distance that doesn't really allow for believing in his characters. (Though there are some where his style of acting works, like the cop in the Hocus Pocus review.) And I get why some people may not care for Doug's over-the-top acting but I'd say it works for his characters, as he commits to them 100%. (And even he is capable of subtler acting, I recall his...well, "Doug Walker" character in To Boldly Flee felt more grounded in reality than his usual roles.)
Just a person. He/him.I have the DVDS of most of the anniversary movies. I thought I would throw them out once i recognized how horrible the channel became but I still have them. ... now DVDS have gone out of style to begin with and I lack a DVD player for the first time in my life, so maybe their end would in fact be when I take that moving box back to my parents' house so I won't have anything to do with them again.
I used to enjoy the anniversary movies when I was younger, particularly Kickassia. For all their technical faults, they seemed like fun group projects done by a group of friends, and they really managed to capture the love and enthusiasm the Walkers had for the subject matter.
Of course, even those aspects became far harder to enjoy in light of the #changethechannel revelations.
Ehh, I'd say I'd still enjoy Kickassia in spite of the background stuff, because it still has that level of innocence. It's the later movies that felt cringe. It's no more different than watching Super Mario Bros. I feel.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Walter has made his own mini-series featuring appearances from pretty much the entire CA crew, which will have its premiere at a live show on 29 June. Looks interesting.
Just a person. He/him.When Lewis has the sad realization on just how much him and the other mattered to Doug
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I think Linkara has told this story before. It sounds awfully familiar. Or maybe one of the other former CA producers said it.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.No doubt Doug's fans will be suitably outraged by these stories, and will then express the depths of their outrage by continuing to watch every video he puts out each week.
I don't watch most of the post document leak episodes (I have watched a few due to overwhelming curiosity) but I will still watch some of his older videos, especially the pre-reboot ones as many of them still hold up, surprisingly.
The Document had stuff like that in it, but it was more about how Michaud didn't like/understand conventions and didn't want Doug and CA to attend conventions unless they were paid.
At this point who the internet decides is okay to forgive for their shitty qualities is a game of madlibs.
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I watch older episodes to, but I generally look up videos that were uploaded by a fan, and not Channel Awesome.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.It seems CA is going to dive into streaming on Twitch.
Just a person. He/him.Is there a dedicated thread for Jesu Otaku? I have a question about his reviews but I wasn't sure if this would be the right place to ask.
It'll be like every other time they try to expand.. they'll dip their toes in the water and call it quits
Like that one Con they refuse to go back too cause it made them realize how niche' they are compared to other internet entertainment companies
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole! You can make one if it doesn't exist.
Optimism is a duty.Linkara talks about the CA 10th anniversary movie that got cancelled
It might as well have been called Doug the Movie
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Funny thing about Linkara saying the "It" remake review felt more like a 10th anniversary video is pretty accurate to how I recall many fans felt of that video when it first came out.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.If you're referring to this Tweet, I think Linkara put "it" in caps to emphasize his point, rather to mention the It review.
Just a person. He/him.Interesting: Awesome Comics is coming back next week as a Saturday morning live show on Twitch.
Just a person. He/him.Mike Jeavons has been doing a little series on the rise and fall of the Angry Review Format. Since this was once Angry Review Central, it seems fitting to put this here, though I also created a new thread for Jeavons as well.
It is also an impromptu review of Channel Awesome's history itself.

Optimism is a duty.Currently, Walter is having Bat-May, where he reviews 31 first episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, which I initially posted on here, here, here, here, here and here, but since Doug isn't really involved here, it seems this would be better place.
In any case, here're episodes that were released so far:
Bump.

I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.
Oh, Tamara is actually quite good imho. I remember the Catwoman review...she absolutely stood out in it, despite just being one of many. But the characters Doug writes tend to be pretty over the top, there there is little room for nuance.
