[up]But she does remove Rhea and still goes around waging war in exactly half of the game's content.

Something I don't like about Edelgard is that IIRC she says bascly "why did you make me hit you?" when she invades the kingdom. And she also has the gall to whine about people not surrendering a lost cause when she herself is perfectly happy to fight to the last man rather than give up.

Not to mention her attitude towards Dimitri, pretending he has no reason to be mad at her after everything she was involved in, when she had more to do with his trauma than the church did with hers.

@Asterism: I read that as a sincere question to him, though couched as a jab. Granted, when you're facing each other on the field of battle, the time for talking has kind of passed. But I read it as a case of, "if you want the war to end, then surrender. What cause are you fighting for that's worth all your people's lives?" Because that is never explained, which is probably purposeful. In the end in Azure Moon, Dimitri, his soldiers, and Dedue die for his personal revenge - not for the future of the Kingdom and not for the Church, but because he wants to kill Edelgard. Regardless of his reasons for that, the truth is that a lot of people died who didn't have to. On Edelgard's part, at least, she has a goal, which she had been very clear about, and was attempting to accomplish with the least blood shed possible.

Speaking of, am I correct in assuming that the incident he talks about in that confrontation is covered in Azure Moon? No specifics, please, just yes or no.

It's been fun.

[up] Yep. I mean, the Blue Lions is all about Dimitri's perspective so you learn more about him there. I personally have problems with his motivation but spoilers.

I do believe that you get an explanation, yes, although I haven’t finished Azure Moon yet, so it’s possible that he elaborates even further later on.

I think Dedue gives you the gist if you talk to him during Chapter 12 on Silver Know, at least.

I mean, I'm assuming it has to do with Those Who Slither, who I imagine are in the Kingdom as well. The Insurrection of Seven and the assassination of the King in Duscur were both ten years ago, if I recall right, which makes Dimitri another victim of assuming someone is guilty because they're close by the issue, like Edelgard with Rhea.

It's been fun.

It's...close to that. It was a plot by Edelgard's mother and TWS, and was done so that Edie's mother could see her again and Edelgard could get more power. Edelgard hid the truth of this from Dimitri for years, all while the framed people of Duscur were unfairly persecuted.

...so, across both threads I've ultimately come to one conclusion:

This is entirely the fault of Those who Slither in the Dark (and by extension, the Agarthan Empire), but everyone is far too busy fighting or blaming each other to realize it).

They play Edelgard against Rhea (when it's really their fault for Edelgard's Crest issues, like the fact that I believe she's dying and even the fact that Crests exist in the first place), and they are the reasons Seiros went nuts in the first place.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't just sit back and laugh; they'd have won if they just bowed out, let everyone kick everyone else' ass, and then step in and become kings of the mountain.

The thing is that Edelgard wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as she did without their support, so they couldn't have just stood back. It's why it's such a shame that we don't get to see her finally turn against them: learning that she's been a pawn the whole time and her whole crusade was based on lies would be a perfect bittersweet end as she finally takes down the ones who really hurt her.

T'would have been nice I admit. Her finding out that for all her flaws, Rhea wasn't the one who made Crests, and that stuff with Crests being made from Sothis' body (or even that hey, turns out Sothis is actually pretty cool...which Byleth could have mentioned) would have definitely done a number on her.

Kinda gives the impression the entire thing was pointless really. She was more or less pointing her sword at the wrong people.

I'll be honest, I think only Solon qualifies as "ugly" out of all of those who slither in the dark. I will admit that I've only ever completed Crimson Flowers, Silver Snow, and am currently on Azure Moon, so there might be some ugly Slitherers that I don't know about.

I noticed somebody questioned why Gilbert is only recruitable in Blue Lions, and I realized the now-painfully-obvious reason: So you can't force him to commit filicide in other routes. tongue

I actually don't think Thales and Kronya look bad enough to be considered hideous. Heck, I'd even consider Thales to be fairly good-looking, especially when compared with Solon. Sure, he's not winning any beauty contests with the playable characters, but I certainly wouldn't call him "hideous."

Speaking of Solon, I'd really, really like to know why he needs to have his right eye pried open at all times.

[up]x3 Didn’t Radiant Dawn have a thing where certain units couldn’t do battle (like Levail and Sephiran not being able to attack the herons)? Maybe they could have done something like that here..

Mind you, I’m fine with not having Gilbert on the other routes. Actually, with him being playable, does that put Blue Lions in the lead for the route with the most playable units?
