Random scribbles for 30 Xanatos Pile-Up…

“I wonder where Saber and Negi are?” Rin mused as she lay in bed. “It’s not like them not to come home…”

Next to her. Illya pouted. “Darn it Negi-kun!” she whined. “I need my Negi-kun injecton!”

“We all need our Negi-kun injection,” Rin groused. “Thank goodness you have two maids…”

Sella and Leysritt, it should be mentioned, were doing this of their own free will and very much enjoying themselves. The reason the other two were currently coherent was because they were having an oxygen break…

“All right everyone!” Negi called to them. “don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll find a way out of here and back home soon enough… somehow! In the meantime… lets study for the test!”

It didn’t get the reaction he hoped for.

“W-what?-!” Ku cried.

“Now everyone, you want to be ready for the test when we leave here, don’t you?” Negi said.

“Isn’t that a little overly optimistic, Negi-sensei?” Konoka said.

“N-no, Negi-kun’s right,” Makie said. “After all, it’s why we’re here, isn’t it? To pass the test? Granted, we lost the book, but…”

“Hey, that was your fault!” Asuna cried, pointing at Makie.

“Is not!” Makie shot back. “Everyone knows if you’re asked for the flight speed of an unladen swallow, you ask what kind!”

Negi was nodding. “Makie-san is right! She gave the correct answer. It’s not her fault the golem cheated. ”

"It occurs to me," Saber said philosophically, "that being a librarian is hardly an appropriate occupation for a young lady. In fact, it is hardly an appropriate endeavor for us, and we are experienced, battle-hardened warriors."

"I believe it speaks very highly of Nodoka-chan that she does this despite her disabilities," Signum said, reaching for a grenade and tossing it around the bookshelf they were using as cover. The grenade exploded, and there was a roar as the Thesaurus was caught in the blast.

From above, Setsuna attacked it as planned, shouting, "For Akamatsu, Konoka and Mahora!"

Library island is becoming a bizarre mix of L-Space, the Monster Manual and Tomb Of Horrors.

Fortunately, Saber and Signum have Epic Levels, and Setsuna is at least level 11…

For anyone who understands that… is 4th edition any good compared to 3.5?

You know, all servants are Epic Level, since they are Epic Spirits, LAWL. Okay, that joke was terrible. Actually, I don't think they are that powerful... Although Gilgamesh probably does, and Ea would be a shittin' powerful artifact.

[up][up]Sabers have a constant Anti-magic field around them. Going from just their stat specialties, it's easy to see that Sabers have at LEAST 2 epic feats. Ironically, only Caster might not need to have epic levels, since they do nothing a level 20 wizard or sorcerer can't already do.

[up]yes, it is.

Not all Sabers, Magey. Nero has barely any resistance to magic at all. Her anti-magic is described as pathetically weak for the Saber class.

But yeah, I guess you're right.

@SCM: I actually only watched Turnabout Storm recently. Can’t wait for the rest. As for 4th ed D&D, I've honestly never played a game, though I do like someof the changes. Then their are other things that make me weep like the butchering of the alignment system. Plus, 4th ed is a simpler game which actually makes it appeal less to me. I like complex systms which have a lot of stuff involved. At least for long term campains. Personally, I'd just incorporate the stuff I like into 3rd ed which is far more homebrew friendly.

@Roleplay: Oh dear. Only Haruna and Konoka left, right? They are hard to roleplay. I'll think a bit before getting back to you.

Anyway, I've been working on...stuff. This includes the next snippet, but it's a hard copy, so I need to type it up first.

@SCM: ... Tastes They Do Vary. Asking that question opens an ENORMOUS can of worms. I'll say without hesitation that it does the epic stuff better than 3 or 3.5 did, and that they deserve kudos for having stats for most of the malevolent deities in various products with notes that say "go ahead and kill them if you want". This is probably the most positive thing I've ever said about this edition of the game.

If you won't I'll slit your throat/Won't you please be nice?

If you were asked to determine what X should be in the phrase "Negi Springfield is a/the messiah of X" based on the events of the Negima manga from beginning to end, what would be your answer?

I do hear that 4th ed is an easier system to learn which I can believe.

He is the savior of the magic world, though.

Also, Siesta/Negi scene incoming.

Darkest Void

Chapter 4: A Mott Drawn To The Fire

Longueville didn't like Lord Mott. Not one bit. She almost puked inside her mouth when the jackass invited her for dinner. A slimy jackass, on top of it.

Though it was nice to know that he'd come to warn them about Fouquet who might be trying to steal the Staff Of Destruction.

She still wondered if Old Osmond had been practicing how to dodge her projectiles. The old pervert had expertly dodged the thrown hand shaped paperweight. Her actual hand struck without problem, though. Someone's scream was heard in the distance, and a yell of “Where the hell did that come from?”

Well, she'd hit someone, atleast.

––

Negi was, as was common of his afternoons and evenings, taking classes on how to wash Louise's clothes. Mostly because he actually liked spending time with Siesta. And silk didn't like being washed like any normal man would, apparently.

Siesta laughed at his failures, and she seemed a lot more relaxed with him every day. That was great, because he was really starting to miss the familiarity with which he'd parted not too long ago.

“Ah, thank you very much, Siesta!” He said, happily raising the basket with Louise's clothes, and he could've sworn he heard the fanfare in the distance proclaiming his victory over a boss fight. The damn silky undergarments were a nightmare to wash.

She smiled and ignored the fact that his own clothes were starting to collect dirt. “Ah, Negi, you learn very fast.” Siesta began, mostly because she knew he'd otherwise leave to deliver his load. “Are you sure you have never done this before?” she asked.

“Yes. Before coming here, I had never had to wash something by hand before.” He admitted, smiling that damn charming smile that made her stomach twist and turn every time he put it on and made her words die on her throat.

“Where are you from?” She asked, blatantly curious.

Negi blinked at the sudden question. “I am from another world.” He said, easily enough. “Called Earth.” he added.

Siesta blinked. “Really?”

Negi nodded.

Oh well. Magic was weird. And so far, he had proved trustworthy enough. No need to question the possible ramifications of what he'd just said. There was a world out there in which Commoners could learn magic... The mere idea of it was already enough to give her confidence.

His smile turned nostalgic as he stared at the two moons in the sky. “Negi... Thank you.” Siesta said, bowing profusely.

“What for?” he asked, curious.

“It's just... I admire you. Even though you are a commoner,” She would believe him if he said so “you are a powerful mage. You are my friend even though you are of higher class than I am, and not once have you looked down on any of us... You defeated three nobles using only your bare hands!” She seemed kind of surprised that was even possible. “It's because of you that I found the courage I needed to go on without giving up.”

To him, it was funny. Mostly because at no point had he seen a sign of weakness in Siesta. Rather, the contrary, as a matter of fact. He shook his head. “You shouldn't sell yourself short, Siesta.” Negi chastised. “To tell you the truth, I depend on you.” He said, his smile stuck mid way between sad and sincere.

Siesta frowned in thought, but didn't reply.

“I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that I will be here for the rest of Master's life. I am cursing my fate because I had so much to do back at my world. And it's all my fault for walking into the portal in the first place. But when I came here, you received me with a smile. Even though your life has been hard, you still walk with your head up. I... I really admire people who can do so.”

Siesta blushed intensely. She hadn't expected him to flat out tell her such a thing.

She knew she was being too straight forward. But being in his arms felt so good. She felt warm, safe, contained. He was a pillar of strength. A kind, loving individual that understood her. A man who she could respect and who respected her in turn.

Even if she'd have to apologize for staining his shirt later. When they went their separate ways, tears were still trailing down her face. “Goodbye...” She muttered to herself. Only when she was certain he was out of earshot and sight did she allow herself to break down into pieces.

It's where I drew inspiration from. Only, this time around, Negi knows that he has to believe in the her who believes in the him who believes in the one piece.
