That's endgame gear!
I'm aware. Still feels good unlocking the thing early on.
Beat the Undead King. I nearly got the Cursed Loincloth; I managed to curse the King, but forgot to use that one ability that draws attacks to Wraiths. He attacked a turret for 1 damage, took 1 damage from the curse, then took a 400+ blast to the face.
Oh well, I'll wait till he respawns before trying again.
I just checked the stat gains for retiring, and man are this pretty wild. Why did I wait til level 50 to retire??
In any case thanks to grinding and retiring my team feels slightly more up to speed, though who knows if it even made that big of a difference?
Besides that, i'm about dead center of the 4th stratum at the moment. Now, I love that EO V is proving itself to be difficult, but some of these random mobs seem outright unfair. Like, there's difficulty and then there's "this random mob can actually oneshot your whole team despite almost entirely having the best equips available to you".
I know my team is definitely offensively oriented, but this is a bit much.

Etrian Odyssey Nexus hits shelves on 2/5 next year. Anyone want to tell me if that cover looks like EO X's? Because I have the feeling that EO X got a rename for the west, just like MHX did...
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownYup, that's EOX's cover, looks like it's getting renamed for the NA/EU release (presumably to avoid the confusion between "Etrian Odyssey X" versus "Etrian Odyssey Cross").
Yes. Yes! YES!
ALL MY YES!!!
Now to just patiently wait for announcement of it being released in the PAL regions.
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.I am so happy that game is coming out, especially after seeing what bosses will be returning (especially bosses from The Drowned City).
Sorry for the double-post, but it seems like there will only be Japanese voices in the localization.
That’s probably why it’s coming out so fast.
Awww... Well that's a slight shame. Well I guess I can't be too disappointed seeing that it's the trade off for the game coming to the west so soon.
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.that's terribly disappointing, given that every game since eo iv has had some pretty solid voice work
i suppose it isn't that big of a deal, though i do hope that we might get an english dlc pack down the line (though i doubt it)
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Maei dont think ive ever really played with the voices on, so it doesnt particularly affect me, yet...
its kind of disappointing for the "last hurrah" of the franchise on the 3ds to not have it.
I don't mind it being Japanese voices only, though I wish they would do the same thing as 7th Dragon and list which voice was done by which voice actor.
Needs more dubbing by Wakamoto
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I wish we had dual audio, English dubbing is very good for this series too
Jesus Atlus calm down I have too many EO to play
uh...
wow.
so, i just spent the last half hour going through a guide trying to figure out how to rest and rebuild my characters for their mastery classes, and having finally settled on a team (blade dancer, barrage brawler, shield bearer, divine herald and elemancer [with a maxed clever strike]) and testing it out...
wow.
that is a substantial upgrade to damage. even with only 3 katanas (need materials for the last one) the blade dancer's output is soooo much better than the masuraos and clever strike does an astounding amount of damage for a physical mage skill.
i am a little cautious about using hell blade though, and i havent quite figured out my brawlers niche yet, besides just using overexertion on the blade dancer. my only real concern is that i have no on-command out of battle heal, which could put a damper on long term survivability.
Hell Blade is incredibly useful if you can do a lot of hits, it does so much damage. I'd only ever use it after Chain Blast or a status effect that incapacitates the enemy/boss though, since Blade Dancers are totally able to 2HKO pretty much any party member.
As for healing, this is where items become super useful. I believe that healers are mostly unnecessary so long as you're stocked up on items, but healing items aaallsssooo require you to grind out the mats for them which can be super inconvenient. But you should be fine without a healer as long as you grind out the mats.
Food is also super good for out of battle healing. Once you do all the quests for Jenetta every few nights she'll give you enough food to make some really good dishes which heal HP and TP, and Roasted Meat heals an honestly ridiculous amount of HP despite it's easiness to farm/get.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI have never used a party in any EO game that has out-of-battle healing.
Just beat Crystal Dragon and cleared the fourth stratum! It's at this point that I realize that my damage output from my team might actually be ridiculously high because he didn't take that long to kill. The fight was him changing forms every other turn and very ineffectively trying to kill my team.
Of course I might also be overlevelled. My whole team was level 55/56, though I never grinded. I just never ran from any encounters (for the most part).
In any case Crystal Dragon was a massive pushover and I take my first few steps into the 5th stratum. And wow is it beautiful. i'm so excited to explore more of it.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI posted about this way back when I first played it, but the first time I fought the Crystal Dragon I never even saw any of its moves since I killed it before the binds from Chain Blast ran out.
The final boss has way more HP at least.

I was saving chain blast for an emergency, but that very clearly wasn't necessary.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'm nearing the end of the fourth stratum, but since I'm getting close to the level 70 cap, I figured I'd try to take on the Primordiphant. I'm trying to get the best possible equipment for my units to prepare, and so far I've managed to buy the Ninety-Three armor for my Omnimancer.

wait what? how are you that high of a level at the fourth stratum?
I figured I'd try to take on the Primordiphant
You should be fine, i've heard Primordiphant is a pushover as far as superbosses go. Though i'm pretty sure you get a quest in the fifth stratum that forces primordiphant to spawn, so it's better to wait til then. that way you can force its spawn by accepting the quest, then turn down the request. go kill the primordiphant again, rinse repeat.

Funny.
Decided to go with Barrage Brawler, Cannon Bearer, Blade Master, Omnimancer, and Merciful Healer. Hopefully this party does pretty well in the levels to come.
Also, I had a rematch with the Amalgolem and managed to get its conditional drop. Being able to afford what the conditional drop gets made into is a different matter though...
