I've seen this plot line about a dozen of times in film and television: The couple is having some difficulties in their marriage/relationship. They argue most of the time, they blatantly disrespect one another, one or both off them might have cheated on one another, there's some possible abuse, etc. When the husband/boyfriend jumps up and says he's leaving for good, the wife/girlfriend cries out a desperate plea, "I'M PREGNANT!" Of course, we the audience know that this a flat out lie and that the female is just saying this to keep the male in the relationship(which is quite similar to The Baby Trap)

My question to you all is there trope for this specifice situation? Or is it just another version of The Baby Trap?

You want to ask this is Lost And Found.
