Is it just me or does the final ending seem like it was made while on LSD or some form of drug?

Also, say what you will about the series proper, I really really like the ED.

Imagine, hypothetically, that I have a friend, who definitely isn't me. And imagine, hypothetically, that my friend is a total pervert and wants to watch this show. And imagine, hypothetically, that this friend has a blu-ray of the show, and definitely isn't planning to just download it from a pirate site or anything like that. And imagine, hypothetically, that these blu-ray discs are arranged with 4eps, 4eps, 4eps, 5eps, with each disc corresponding to one of the four character arcs, but that Wikipedia lists the show as only having 12 episodes, with episodes 1, 2 and 7 (as numbered out of 12) serving as 'branching points' for different arcs.

How many of the 17 episodes listed on the discs should my friend watch? Are some of them (for instance, the first episode on each disc) just duplicates of each other? Or are there differences between these episodes depending on which disc they're on? If there are differences, should my friend watch all of them, or just one of each of the redundant sets, and if so, is there a particular one in each set that is considered 'optimal', i.e. to get the most of the story or the greatest emotional value or whatever?

3 or 4 episodes in the anime depict a "route" for Haruka and each girl to be focused on. You won't see any real repetition besides the scene at the end of the first episode at the start of each new route.

Yes, so I understand. But it seems that the first two episodes of each route are shared episodes with other routes. For instance, Kazuha's route shares its first episode with all three other routes and its second episode with Akira's route before branching into its own conclusion. The math works out fine if I take Wikipedia's 12-episode list at face value. What I'm wondering (on behalf of my hypothetical friend, of course) is whether the shared episodes are repeated exactly on each disc or whether there is some important difference that would make it necessary to watch each version (for a total of 17 episodes rather than 12).

Hypothetically, if my friend were a filthy pirate and were planning to download the show from a pirate site, he might have already looked at the list of files and noticed that the filesizes for the shared episodes are similar but not precisely the same, which would naturally raise his suspicions that the redundant episodes might have slightly different content that could be important to watch in order to understand the complete story.

You won't see any real repetition besides the scene at the end of the first episode at the start of each new route.
I'm not sure I understand this, it seems to imply that the shared episodes are different save for identical final scenes? Or did you mean to say that the viewer 'won't see any real difference besides [etc]'? In which case how important are the differences?

We can assume for the sake of argument that my friend is going to watch the entire show at once, more or less, and wouldn't want to watch redundant material a la Endless Eight.

It's nothing like Endless Eight, just watch the cartoon.

Ooh, this series.

I think the opening song is one of the best songs in anime, period.
