Hate to doublepost, but do our characters have to know about the High Council and Friends off the bat? Because I feel that it would be more interesting if anyone not on the High Council has no idea of the war or the factions involved in it.

Well, as a bit of an experienced RP'er (if I do say so myself, 
), I think that the best course of action for the original post would be a meeting between either the Friends or the High Council, discussing the artefact and it's importance.
Also, if you're stymied as to where to find the artefact, might I suggest WALL-E's world? All those mountains and mountains of trash provide an ample opportunity to hide something that doesn't want to be found...

I think Walt Disney's Pen is probably the best bet.
Another point- we need to make a discussion thread for this RP so we don't clutter up the signup sheet with this kind of talk.

Is there any room for Vidia (from Disney Fairies?). But I have a plotbunny regarding her.
Since she's evil in some works and good in others, and seems to get mistaken for evil a lot (her attitude helps this one heck of a lot), I was thinking of having the Friends trying to get her to pay for a deal she never made in the first place.
