Wait, why is Esidesi an honorable mention?

Yeah, Kars is the actual worst among the Pillar Men.

The other two still had some honor. In Esidisi’s case Joseph respected him precisely because he was willing to throw that honor away to help the other Pillar Men.

But Kars? He ultimately had no real honor and only wanted to become the Ultimate Lifeform.

It's telling that while Joseph treated Esidisi and Wamuu with some respect after defeating them, he trolled Kars right before Kars was launched into space. In the end Joseph had nothing but contempt for Kars.

Personally Diavolo is up there with the most vile.

You wanna kill your daughter and the bodyguards you assigned to protect her that's fine, some people aren't meant to be parents. You tie up somebody else's kid steal their clothes and staple their mouth shut, that's just unnecessary.

Oh, he didn't just tie up that kid, steal his clothes, and staple his mouth shut. He sewed his mouth shut with a pair of shoelaces, slit his wrist, and drank his blood to replenish his iron. That kid was pale in the face from blood loss when Bruno found him, he's going to be traumatized for life, if he managed to survive.

DIO is still one of the most vile just for the sheer pettiness of some of his evil. Remember when he forced that one senator to drive through a crowd of people? To say nothing of his animal cruelty. Or the shit with the stairs and Polnareff.

DIO isn't just a megalomaniac with a god complex, he's also a jerk.

Kars also becomes a lot more petty and cruel to animals too right after becoming the Ultimate Lifeform. When before he would be careful to avoid landing on flowers and kill careless drivers for nearly running over a dog, after becoming the Ultimate Lifeform he casually turns his own hand into a squirrel that mauls another squirrel for no reason.

Remember that time Diavolo snapped a random fortune teller into a wall, promised to kill him painlessly in exchange for a favor which the fortune teller obliged, and then proceeded to rip the man's hand off and show it to him before punching him to death and leaving his body behind.

[up][up]The exact moment I knew I was gonna hate DIO? Him roasting Danny alive. The exact moment I knew I wouldn't find him as charismatic as most people do? Him sexually harassing Erina just to torment Jonathan further. And the exact moment he became one of my most hated characters in media? Him turning that mother into a zombie to eat her own child.

This may just be me but I do pity Diavolo just a tiny bit, mainly because his own crippling paranoia plays a large part into his more evil traits. He's about the only main Jojo villain who seems personally miserable; I can't imagine he'd want to have his paranoid disorder, even if it's only because it's screwing up his business

Yeah, as much as he talks about "avoiding the pitfalls of life" and "living an eternal climax", he sure does seem like a nervous wreck anytime we see him alone. Him sitting on the floor awaiting his daughter's delivery, him breaking his own computer out of frustration, everything he says to Doppio. Guy can delude himself all he wants, he is not happy in life.

Who would win in a fight between Rohan and Teronosuke (Enigma) both from Part 4. What if they'd met first instead of Rohan and Yuya.

___

The DIO and Giorno parallels pile upon me.

  • Both effectively created undead allies.
    • DIO by infecting Jack the Ripper and Vanilla Ice, making them into his thralls/lieutenants/confidantes.
    • Giorno by fixing Bucciarati with Golden Wind but unintentionally making him into an undead, his body failing him slowly over time.

I can't help but wonder if Araki intended that or if it's just a coincidence.

[up]Probably Rohan, all things considered. To my knowledge, Rohan doesn't have any visual cues indicating that he's scared, and even if he did, it takes a lot to get him to crack. Josuke and Okuyasu breaking into his house? Not unsettling. Highway Star locking him in place? He can shrug it off. Rohan's got nerves of steel.

[up][up]I'd say the parallels between DIO and Giorno were very intentional. Giorno is in some ways a look at what DIO might have been like if he didn't see compassion as a weakness.

I was just thinking. The story of Stone Ocean is meant to tie together the events of the previous five parts into one, finalized package, and for the most part, I see it.

Phantom Blood: The story's events were all instigated by DIO
Stardust Crusaders: Jotaro directly combats DIO's influence
Diamond is Unbreakable: Stand formation is elaborated upon
Vento Aureo: The concept of DIO's children is explored further

However, I'm noticing one discrepancy. What narrative ties does Stone Ocean have with Battle Tendency?

For all the critisism Stardust Crusaders received and fans saying how all later Parts evolved and developed Stands more, i rarely seen a Stand type similiar to Anubis:

Anubis is a sentient Stand, already a rarity, since in majority of the cases Stands are simply the extension of the will of their users and nothing more, most of them don't even talk or think, but what makes him more unique is the fact that he has no single user, he freely brainwashes and uses people to act as vessels for him, remaining completely independent. I don't remember any Stand like this in any later Parts, since even if the Stand talked and showcased independent thinking, they still remained as extensions of their users.

Yeah, Part 3 actually had quite a few unique and interesting Stand designs. Even if the powers were fairly simple.

Part 4 had roughly the same level of bizarreness to the powers, but actually downgraded the Stand designs a little to be more mundane and basic.

Part 5 had a bit more weirdness in the powers, but it's also the Part that has the most simple and basic Stand designs, practically everyone has some sort of punchghost. Contrast Emperor, a Stand gun with controllable Stand bullets, to Sex Pistols, which is 6 small punchghosts that ride and punch regular bullets from a regular gun.

Part 6 is where the designs start getting weird again, with the powers reaching the pinnacle of weirdness in the series here.

Part 7 has some EXTREMELY weird designs -in sharp contrast to Part 5, practically no-one has a punchghost- coupled with only moderately weird powers.

Part 8 steps down the weirdness in designs a little from Part 7 but steps up the weirdness on abilities.

Cheap Trick works similarly to Anubis, aside from the fact that it's not tied to a specific object.

But yeah, Anubis is one of my favorite Stands from Part 3. It's probably third only to The World and Cream in terms of the villains' brawler type Stands.
