If he wasn't before, he definitely crossed the line when he tried to destroy Harry and Ron's minds and leave Ginny to die.

Wake me up at your own risk. And as Drunken noted, erasing people's memories so you can steal credit for their good deeds is evil in its own right.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIn the case snape losing the one he love on his own doing is what make him start giving a damn, after all he could just assit voldemort again but his regret stop him.
and lockheart is evil in the pettiest sense, take away the magic and you have a pretentious dude willing to steal other credit because he love fame and glamour that much.
Really just take away fron mungo and put in hi sillicon valley, he fit right there
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Lockhart's even worse than a typical plagiarist since he goes so far as to erase others' memories in the process.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, Lockhart’s pretty evil. He’s just so incredibly, hilariously incompetent at everything else that it’s easy to forget that he’s a narcissistic sociopath.
Lockhart’s spell that backfired on him was so powerful that it put him in a mental institution for what is implied to be the rest of his life. And he was going to do that to *kids,* not to mention all his previous victims.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. To be fair I'm not sure he went for the full ID wipe on his previous victims, just erasing the bits about the encounters with monsters (and then him as well.)
He was specifically going for "they were so horrified they went insane" but a trail of total amnesiacs popping up would probably be too conspicuous for him to risk.
Not that this makes it any better morally or legally.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I think the way evil is organized to me in the franchise is that Voldemort is a megalomaniacal fascist, Umbridge is just a fascist, and Lockhart is just a megalomaniac. He's evil, but in a very personal way, as opposed to the group-based and systemic hatred of the other two.
This convo reminded me of all those edgy fridge horror entries on this site about how Lockhart has access to young female children students as well as the teachers. And has a memory editing charm.
Even pointing out Harry in his one on one detention with Lockhart is having problems keeping track of time...
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Wait what?
Also I wonder if Lockhart could make Voldy forget.

Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.If you don't mess up the spell, memory charms are reversible. We see that with the person Voldemort and Pettigrew interrogated.
So I say Voldemort could be mind wiped, but if one of his followers gets to him in time, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Didn't them reversing the memory charm result in her being mentally broken, though?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I always thought it was more like Voldermort mentally broke her to reverse the memory charm. Although, I think it was also mentioned that the memory charm Barty Crouch had used on her was too strong and had left her damaged in the first place.

Bertha Jorkins was definitely damaged, if we go by Sirius' account. She became very forgetful, even if she wasn't the smartest before.
And Voldemort isn't the type that'd care if his interrogation victim gets mentally destroyed, so who knows if it was necessary or just indifferent.
Wake me up at your own risk.Lockhart himself suffered from a backfired memory spell and even St. Mungos couldn't cure him.
He was hospitalized for the rest of his life.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Probably, if he could actually get the drop on him, which… you know, Lockhart. So probably not.
As far as he’s described Voldemort isn’t particularly immune to anything. You could even kill him like anyone else if you wanted to - it would just turn him into a wandering spirit. He’s just such an extremely good duelist that actually hitting him with anything isn’t likely.
But if you actually hit him with a Memory Charm, there’s no reason it wouldn’t work.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. And I don't think there's ever been stated a way to be immune or at least resistant to memory charms, like sure you can figure out if your memory was tampered with, there are mind protection spells like Legilimens but nothing indicates if you get hit by memory charms you can resist it.
So I think if Lockhart could memory charm Voldemort, it would work.
Lockhart is totally going to obliviate the dark lord into thinking he's a huge fan of Lockhart.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. That sounds like it'd end up as the plot for Misery, really.
Wake me up at your own risk. When in doubt, Obliviate.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Starring Bellatrix Lestrange as Annie Wilkes, and Voldemort as Paul Sheldon.

Secret SignatureIt's like Mr. Tinker from the Sonic IDW Comics.
And heck, amnesiac pleasant Voldemort sounds like a comedy goldmine. A cursed one, but hell.

New theme music also a boxMy endless slow re-listen to the Stephen Fry Audiobooks have come back around to OotP and Ron's quidditch career and really I'm feeling a lot of sympathy for him because Angelina isn't exactly a great captain.
It's clear from the start than Ron isn't the best keeper, she picks him because she thinks his attitude is better than the others but also because she thinks he'll have more skill than he shows because he's a Weasley.(which would really hurt if he knew)
She admits he needs training but is very harsh on him in the very first training session with him. (tbf she is new to captaining and the slytherins are putting everyone off)
I also wonder considering they only replaced the keeper that season if Angelina, Alicia and Katie were trained as chasers by Wood with tactics that required a very strong and active Keeper. (i.e. him) so they were particularly cramped by his absence?
Yeah, I would say Lockhart was evil.
Disgusted, but not surprised
