I feel like there's been a number of characters who feel they owe Joyboy an apology for mysterious reasons, haven't there?

I admit, I hope even if he does try, he fails. Kizaru is the reason Vegapunk is dying. He waited way too long to defect, so I think he should have the door slammed right in his face.

Given it's been a pattern for some previous arcs, I imagine the WG's ancestors did something to turn Joyboy's allies against him, then rewrote history.

I really don't have a lot to say about this chapter, other then I'm kind of annoyed this arc has seemingly turned into another "We have to escape, its the only thing we can do!" scenario. But its not over yet, I will let it all play out.

Well, that's confirmation that the other elders share the same seeming invincibility as Saturn. Which rules out the idea of it being some ancillary power of Saturn's fruit.

I still kinda feel like there's some kind of trick to it, though. Like their real bodies are somewhere else.

I definitely think there will be a method to bypass the immortality, but I dont see that happening this arc. Seems to me like this fight is to establish that power so that it will have propper weight when someone finally manages to get past it in the final arc.

Apart from the regeneration, the Elders honestly don't seem too impressive compared to some of the other people the Straw Hats have fought at this point. Lucci and Kizaru have caused more damage to the main characters this arc.

I just noticed that Luffy is pasting his scars back on his body after they were blown off by Warcury's roar. My prediction for next chapter is that Bonney remembers Luffy's advice and uses Distorted Future to beat up the Vice-Admirals (though Franky gets to take out one). Then Nusjuro shows up to attack them and then Sanji shows up to intercept him. After that, I have no clue.

Damn I do love how goofy Gear 5 is.

Gum-Gum Baseball was my highlight of the chapter. Also, I agree with Pushover that Bonney should have a payoff to Luffy giving her an example of how to punch like him.

Toei will need to tread extremely carefully here. These infodumps present in Egghead are drop dead important. Should Toei contradict something important here and that it cannot be fixed, they would be making the more than 20 year anime worthless.

Not helping matters is Oda taking a much deserved and necessary 3 week break.

Speaking of info dumps, I keep finding myself kinda losing interest in the Void Century subplot. Sure, the World Government probably did something to fuck over whoever was around at the time, but as far as it's purpose goes, what does it mean for the story? That they're an illegitimate government? Even if they were legitimate they'd still be total monsters, so what's the point exactly? Sure Robin and Ohara need their closure over it, but if that's what drops the WG and not their casual assholery then that's a weird overall takeaway.

Things like Hordy's "backstory" don't really happen anymore. Not to that degree, anyway. At worst you'll get an Adaption Induced Plot Hole that's easily ignored. I don't think we have to worry about something like the anime deciding to depict Bonney eating a Devil Fruit, even though we know she didn't eat one at all.

And the anime stays pretty well behind from the manga, I think. Besides, they'll probably do more filler recap episodes in there too to pad time even more. Like, I can absolutely imagine one that's just dedicated to all the Straw Hats' encounters with Giants.

I´m pretty sure the Void century won´t be just a "normal" powerstruggle between nations, without much impact in the present day. The Void century is also heavily tied to the mystery of what exactly the One Piece is, what with the Road Poneglyph leading the way there. And the One Piece itself apparently has some sort of timer, since the Roger pirates were to early, so i find it unlikely that the Vopid century won´t have ramifications for the present day. Currently my money is on the WG terraforming the planet during that time and the One Piece might be a way to reverse that (connecting the 4 blues again and giving the people more freedom to travel the world).

No they won’t don’t be so over dramatic about this. Like even if there is a contradiction for whatever reason it can either be pushed to the side or have an aside statement pointing out how that part was incorrect.

Toei already added a line where Hawkins said that Drake was the 1% survivor man, and then when adapting the scene where Hawkins reveals it was actually himself, they just ignored that they did that.

Maybe? Probably? I don't know Japanese. I've just re-read the manga a bunch.
