I like Guwange's art style, but for reasons that will be brushed off as trivial here I don't like the game itself.
Oh well, guess I'll buy it anyway. Maybe it'll convince Cave to bring over more shooters to consoles. loldaifukkatsu

And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?JAF: If this were a PS 3 release, would you be talking about it?
the future we had hoped forYes.
Jonah FalconAs mentioned in the main shmup thread, I bought this port last night and I am downright disappointed with it. Crossposting from my latest edit on the Cave page:
As many fans of shmups know, vertical-scrolling shooters typically have a horiztonal option that pillarboxes the screen. This wouldn't be so bad, except in Guwange XBLA, if you are using a screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the entire game screen, including the pillarboxes, will letterbox itself into 16:9. This means the screen becomes VERY small, and if you try to play with the monitor turned 90 degrees, you can't fill the entire screen with the game window due to the forced letterboxing.
Did I mention that this game originally came out 10 years ago, on arcade hardware made for rotated 4:3 monitors? That you get punished if you use a rotated 4:3 monitor—the ORIGINAL SETUP FOR THIS GAME—or even an unrotated one, is ten kinds of stupid.
And I'm sure many of us still play games on a CRT.
I want my 800 Microsoft Points back. I'm not playing this piece of crap you call a port until this issue is addressed and a patch released that fixes this.
If you have a Twitter account, and bought this game or downloaded the trial, let Cave know about this problem: http://twitter.com/cave_world_en
