if anyone backed hiveswap here is the teams rebuttal to the article cited in the video from last page.
Damn, Hussie and What Pumpkin got fucked over hard.
Well, I've watched the vid and read the kickstarter post.
That was a lot of history.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Seems like Hussie has had a rough time of things since the end of HS, or even a while before.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I made the mistake of looking into some of the details in that link, and eesh. Deathwishing is never fun to see.
I pine for the day when I just didn't like the writing or concepts the new Snapchat or Epilogues or HS2 writers were bringing to the table and didn't know that some of them act awful online. At least the one doing the deathwishing isn't on-board anymore, I don't think.
The fact that I kinda reserved my judgement on The Odd Gentlemen and What Pumpkin over the Hiveswap situation due to not trusting random gossip seems to have paid some long-term dividends.
Mostly does better things now. Key word mostly. Writes things, but you'll never find them. Or you can ask.But it doesn’t make sense. Why would anyone at What Pumpkin do this? More importantly, why now? There is something very off here, like a WP employee is going rogue or something.
I saw that entire video and she hedged all statements regarding the Hiveswap situation with "this is an unconfirmed rumor". It definitely wasn't a "hit piece" as even if she says she doesn't like Homestuck 2 there were 0 personal attacks on any of the new team created for it.
TBH I was completely willing to believe the narrative they gave their Kickstarter backers, if only because lying about this would probably get them in legal trouble. However trying to sue Sarah Z for this is just... Kinda inexcusable?
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.So. That's a thing that I caution against forming a strong opinion on. Because Sarah Z didn't say who threatened legal action against her or why, or what kind of legal action. I'm certainly inclined to take her side. But we don't actually know what the other side here looks like.
In particular, I want to call attention to the way WP's statement refers to the company they worked with vaguely as 'GC', even though it's not like that detail of the story has ever been a secret.

Rereading what she wrote, yeah she never mentions What Pumpkin at all except indirectly when bringing up the backer update (and in facts seems to have a positive tone). The Reddit itself seems to be claiming that What Pumpkin has been harassing her since the release of the video, but I can’t find anything. Is anyone here able to find proof of harassment from What Pumpkin?
Edit: So the only thing I can find is these tweets here from Aysha, but they don’t seem to scream “harassment” so much as “confusion”. But this seems to be what the Reddit is citing as evidence that WP is responsible, so...

People may be conflating the call for harassment over to Sarah from Gio. Who did get a targeted attempt at inciting a mob at them.
Yeah. I mean those tweets aren't exactly happy ones. But the tone is less 'I'm going to sue her' and more 'I wish she'd contacted us about this'.
Yeah, I’m going to wait to see what develops. I have little trust in the Reddit considering the shit they pulled last year, but Aysha’s conflict with Gio looks like a curious one, since she seems to claim that they’ve been stalking and harassing her first.
On a lighter note, apparently Psycolonials is actually really good, or at least there is a very positive response.
Pardon me but what did the Reddit do?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. They had a terrible problem with gatekeeping led by their head mod that boiled over when said mod created his own site to host other people’s fanwork without their permission. When Kate and Aysha called him out (albeit rather harshly), the Reddit responded poorly, and Hussie had to step in and force the mod to step down. To this day, the reddit still acts like the mod is the victim.
It's very weird to find out about a Homestuck 2 writer(?)'s existence, more or less, from a screenshot of them coordinating online harassment.
Like, I should probably already know who that is? But don't. So, fun first impression, of them abusing whatever influence they have on the community, or at least trying to abuse it, by all appearances.
It's just so weird.

Probably for the best. Kind of a shame that what is, for better or worse, kinda his life's work, had to end on such a sour note.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I am rather curious about the use of the "They" pronouns.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.At least he's trying to work on new projects.

Didn't he always intend to move on to something else after Homestuck was done? Though it looks like Homestuck will never be "done" now, which is all I wanted really.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I definitely remember plans of moving on to another project being mentioned well before the final update, much less the Epilogues, so it makes sense.
Man, it’s already been five years since Homestuck ended and two years since the epilogues.
