Spain Sun's Experimental Group - Members Wanted!

As has been mentioned a couple of times already, Spain Sun has decided to form his own experimental band (currently called Deto T, though the name will probably change at some point in the future).

So far, only myself, Spain Sun and Mike K are members of the group. More members are needed, however, so I made this thread to see if I can recruit anyone else into the group.

So... anyone else up for joining Deto T?

Just a reminder that the band is entirely noncommittal, you can contribute as much or as little as you want.

I also encourage creative making of aliases, because IT'S FUN.

Also, to clarify, the Group in addition to any and all instruments and any number of vocalists, also needs visual artists to design things/take pictures.

To be honest, (and I'm not trying to put anyone down here) your vocal register seems a bit too low to sing an R.E.M. song.

Then again, that might work in our favor here. I'll get back to you.

I've managed to pull off singing a couple of REM songs before ("The One I Love" and "Losing My Religion"), so I'll probably be fine with singing this one... once I get around to listening to it, of course.

Okay, but I need to send you the demo instrumental so you know how I want you to sing it.

Oh, and important! While I do want you to sing to the instrumental track, don't re-record it if at all possible, I just need your vocals acapella, or with an instrument if you want to do that.

Oh hey, I can sing. Although, my mic quality isn't the best... Can recordings be made into better quality via Audacity? Because I do have that.

Or wait. I don't anymore. I'll go get it again.

I think my specialty in singing is melodies. I find I do better when I'm not using words I understand or not using words at all. Probably because I'm not focusing on the words themselves like I tend to do when singing in English. Perhaps I could do some Ominous Latin Chanting..

What am I saying? I know I can do Ominous Latin Chanting! I've sung the Brawl theme many times in the past.

Anyways, yeah. I also typically have to enjoy the melody in question. Well, I guess that depends. I don't know. I haven't tried singing melodies that I haven't enjoyed in some form, So Yeah.

Anyways, yeah. Can sing. Only from ear. Can't read music. Can't play any instruments.

as for being able to touch up recordings with Audacity, not usually, the Noise Removal function don't work too well.

As I (vaguely) demonstrated with my guest spot on your album, I can play the guitar, albeit badly. I've got both an acoustic and an electric, so if you need either one, I can help with that.

Are there any other instruments you're thinking of using, specifically?

I could ask non-tropers I know, I have a lot of bassist, drummer and guitarist friends.

Necronus: No there wasn't, I was just curious, though I would like a percussionist, so we have three lead vocalists, a backup, and a guitar player.

as a side note, I would like anyone joining tell me what you want to be credited as, it can be anything (as long as it's not offensive, of course).

I'm currently working on the backbeat for the cover of "Nightswimming", I know Necronus expressed an interest in singing that.

'k so I have the back-production I mentioned working on almost done.

Now, here's the thing, as I said earlier, when you lay down your vocals, make sure you're recording only your vocals. Since I will need to tweak the back track quite a bit between now and the time that this is released publicly.

Another thing, I know I originally wanted to do a cover of "Nightswimming" but, we're a group here, how do y'all feel about that? We could just as easily do an original song.

Some other things, where are we going to host our music? I really. Really. Really. don't want to use my sectionz profile, because nobody looks at it, and the userbase is rude.

Also, we need to finalize the name for the band, I will be taking suggestions from now until this time next week.

Here is the back-production, in mp3 format. Again record your part only I need to be able to drop things in and out, as you can tell, the production is far from polished, and a lot of things just sort of appear with no fade-in and vanish with no fade-out.

So, I looked up Nightswimming on youtube. Not my style, but not aesthetically unpleasant, either.

I also listened to the demo. So, uh, do we just record whatever vocals we want then you'll mix it in? Or something else?

Yeah basically, I know it sounds quite unprofessional, but we're doing this long-distance, so.

Alright then. I'll do some thinking and practicing and such. Not today though, I have Spirit Of The Century. On the weekend, I'll do stuff.
