Ok it was mentioned there is not a thread for Law Enforcement Officers (LEO for short)and other similar jobs for discussion.
This is for discussing the actual jobs, ranks, training, culture, relations to military bodies that exist, and any other variety of topics that can arise pertaining to the World of Policing.
I just call them “complete assholes”.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'm struggling to follow the logic here. Mostly because Article 4 doesn't make people immune from prosecution.
"Yup. That tasted purple."It's an exercise in futility. These people will believe what they want to believe.
Disgusted, but not surprisedDeadbeat: They operate partly on a complete legal fiction and are often conned by various persons who offer services to fuel their insanity.
Who watches the watchmen?Personally, I'd arrest that lady for talking.
What charge? Aggravated assault against my hearing.
Inter arma enim silent legesThere’s been an incident in Toyama Prefecture.
Police say the man used a knife to attack the Okuda police box in Toyama City around 2 PM on Tuesday. They say he stabbed officer Kenichi Inaizumi and stole his gun. Inaizumi was later confirmed dead.
The suspect then reportedly walked to a nearby elementary school and shot security guard Shinichi Nakamura at the main entrance. Nakamura was also later confirmed dead.
The suspect was shot by a police officer and is reportedly in critical condition.
The suspect, Keita Shimazu, is a former member of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force. Sources say he worked at a camp in central Japan until March last year.
I wouldn't have been as angry at the woman in the video if she didn't repeatedly demand to see the officer's superior and borderline threatened to get him in trouble. Who does she think she is anyway?
Well, darn. I heard that JSDF and Japanese police don't have a good relationship and seems like it's gonna get worse.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.dRoy: Its akin to asking to see the manager when someone doesn't get their way. The Sovereign Citizens/Freemen on the Land types are massively entitled self righteous twits. In the US they basically are trying to cherry pick the remnants of the Articles of Confederation that are still in force for the US while ignoring the fact that the constitution overrides nearly all of it as do various state laws and that the vast majority of the US states are not party to the original documents.
(Looks like Youtube vid embeds might be borked.)

Who watches the watchmen?Isn’t Lawful GTA basically LA Noire?
Not really. They gave her four generic tasks to complete while avoiding as many crimes as possible. She runs two red lights at worst while spotting 11 separate civilian offenses mostly for Jaywalking, reckless driving, and prostitution.

Who watches the watchmen? My bad, that was too facetious on my part
It is pretty interesting, to play the game that way. I’m trying to think of law enforcement video games that aren’t those classic SWAT games
There are a couple that I have played but I can't recall them off the top of my head. One is an RTS style game and another is more likeRPGish style title. I will get back to you on that. I found them both on steam.

Who watches the watchmen? Is Insurgency a good example or is that too commercial FPS
Been kind of interested in that.
I'd be interested to see a police RPG. Working in law enforcement is thrilling on TV, but in reality it can be full of mundane or even downright boring stuff. Barking dog and noise calls, hospital runs, assigned presence for roadwork, there's a lot police do that is far from dramatic.
They should have sent a poet.A police RPG that actually tries to be true to actual police work would be boring as hell. We've got Acceptable Breaks from Reality for a reason.
Disgusted, but not surprised@dRoy
- The suspect is formerly with the SDF, so the last thing they need is another scandal.

NHK has revealed that the suspect did want to steal the dead officer’s revolver.

"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"I am sure that spending the most of your day filling reports and complaints isn't your whole idea of fun.
For a policeman, a day where your worst call is a noise complaint call is a good day.
Inter arma enim silent legesHere is one for you guys. Police Tactics: Imperio. It is sort of an RTS/Strategy game where it looks like you manage a police department in a city.
Who watches the watchmen? Its not just law enforcement but there’s a 911 responder game on steam where you direct police, ambulance and fire assets around a city to deal with emergencies.

Turns out that the suspect in Toyama who killed a cop was involved in a workplace dispute.

Looks like the NPA is going to speed up the implementation of a new type of holster to prevent anyone from having second thoughts to steal revolvers from uniformed officers.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"I’m honestly surprised they didn’t have those already. Most police departments in the US and Europe require level 3 retention or better for their holsters.
They should have sent a poet. The problem is that the harsh laws for using a gun and trying to kill someone with it (especially the cops) carries a huge penalty for it. It has largely worked, but there are incidents where the suspects ambush the officers when they're alone to snatch their guns. This was even used by leftist terrorists in Japan too. Most instances, they're just arrested and slapped a huge sentence.
IIRC the only one who do use them are special units like the Special Assault Team.

"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Cross posting from the General Crimes thread.
For those not familiar with the incident back in roughly the mid 80's a man named hoko Asahara formed a Japanese cult. The cult was a blend of elements from Indian Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, taking Shiva as the main image of worship, millennialist ideas from the Christian Book of Revelation, Yoga, and the writings of Nostradamus. They gained a fairly good sized following and reach outside of Japan. The nature of cult generally classifies it as one of the varieties of Dooms Day cults with all the abuse and weirdness that usually implies with these groups.
However it didn't stop there. In 1995 they launched chemical weapon attack on the Tokyo Subway which killed 13 and inflicted at least a thousand general chemical weapon casualties. It turned out they were responsible for a number of smaller scale incidents prior to the attack and are long thought to be a lead up to the main attack.
Afterwards the cult was found to be responsible and their leadership arrested or sought for arrest. The leadership as originally sentenced to face the death penalty in 2012 but was put on hold as fugitive members of the cult were captured around the same time and awaited trial. A total of 13 members of the cult were sentenced with death.
While the leadership was imprisoned and now dead the cult continued as the organization known as Aleph. They have suffered internal division but remain active with the cult drawing the disaffected and disillusioned like such groups do. They remain largely unpopular with the populace are still treated with distrust and hostility. They have been expelled and banned from Russia for being a terrorist organization in 2016 and in 2017 had offices raided by the police for charging a woman for tens of thousands of yen, about several hundred dollars US, for study sessions.
Who watches the watchmen?
There’s a lot of militia types out by me and the local LE Os tread with extreme caution around them. Too many guns and not enough sense is the general opinion.
They should have sent a poet.
