The scene is intimate and about the two using magic to sychronize their senses while doing the transplant, but it doesn't explicitly require feeling Shirou's heartbeat, so I am unsure.

No editing progress bar yet, but unless they’re starting it from scratch, I think it’s realistic to expect the patch to be out still this year.

Yes, we had news. On December 31st 2020.
Either they are having a lot of issues internally or they just want to keep things under wraps.

even from what we were shown, it looked like pre-pre-pre alpha footage.
even if they had the first floor entirely done (which they definitely didnt), that's less than 1/14th of the game that's done.
i imagine that we'll be getting some update sometime this year, but i really don't expect the game to be done for another year or two at soonest.

They just wanted the announcement to happen on the 10th anniversary, even if they weren't ready to show anything that early.

There was Extella Link which was a Pseudo-Sequel of sorts but that's about it.

All the dungeons are so tailored to the plot that it's kind of hard to imagine them adding even more while still being faithful to the original barring loads of bonus dungeons.
Maybe Rogue Servant Dungeons?

i guess rogue servant dungeons could work, potentially?
the issue is that the only characters that even exist outside of the Moon Cell's watchful eye are Rin/Rani (depending on which you save), Juilius/Li Shuwen (who are barely holding on as the Moon Cell is slowly deleting them), Arc (who doesn't listen to the moon cell anyways), and Shiki (who was sealed away and also has whack powers here).
the moon cell letting any servants actually survive long enough that they'd stick around is questionable, since the only ones that have done so have shenanigans going on.
they could definitely write in some reasoning for it, though, and i do think it would be a good way to have extra optional content in a way that the original didn't.

It would be nice and i doubt Nasu isn't adding new stuff he has thought of since the release of the original.
Maybe some CCC teasing but i kinda doubt that.

Re: Extra, TIL according to TCRF, there were planned options for saving Julius and the option to save Rin on Rani's route.
Those would be neat additions.

Ah yes, you can save Rin in Rani's route, but no option to save Rani in Rin's route. Being Rani is suffering.

to be fair, all of these were definitely cut early into development considering it's impossible to have 3 command seals past Week 3.
heck, it's incredibly unlikey you even have 2 by the end of Week 3 considering the game insists you use a command seal, then throws you into a basically impossible fight if you don't.

All Niinou did was show his pre-alpha mod build on the announcement stream and there was a "Twice's memories" section on the menu.
