Elidibus was just having a really bad day, i can see him being weakened after getting his ass kicked by the WOL.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Naw, Savant is right. It's definitely a thing that the writers are just latching on to how surprisingly popular Zenos is, and people who like him are on the same tier as the fangirls who wrote Sephiroth fanfic 15 years ago.
Heart of StoneOuch, hey, Zenos at least has more coherent character than Sephiroth these days. hahaha. Though i don't write Cloud and Sephiroth fics. Gross.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. He's marketable in a way few other XIV villains are, to be fair.
It's not just his katana that made Dissidia's developers instantly jump on him as the game's villain rep.

I can only imagine the thirst war that will happen when the Crystal Exarch, Zenos, and Emet-Selch are in the same room.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I think Elidibus ran before Zenos could fight him didn't he? Like I distinctly remember Zenos being disappointed he didn't get to fight himself because that sounded like a ponce for him.
x4 Generally I find it lame to throw thirsty fans under the bus, acting like they are lesser then the fans who complain about who's power level peen is too big or too small. It really reeks of fandom gatekeeping.

Speaking off, i'd like to take a controversial stance and say Zenos is a better leader than Lyse.
The former is an absolutely ruthless commander who used brutal tactics to crush his opposition. Showed vision by supporting research for future projects (the Resonants). Showed his ability to see talents and promoted Fordola and ignored protestations by racist Garleans.
While the latter: Just follows orders and gets angry at people who don’t want to fight Garlemald, but she sort of learns compassion over it, but the first thing she does as leader of the Resistance is go off on a dangerous recon mission after being told that if something happened to her, the Resistance would be shattered.
I've been on a New game + yes.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I say Zenos is Sephrioth with more ham. Also, Lyse basically dumped the "dumb blonde" shtick. She's just impulsive instead.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. That's why i said a bit dim for Lyse since she did have development, just not one that makes her believable as leader.
Are talking pre-flanderization Sephy or post? I'd argue Zenos is a much better executed personal nemesis. Sephiroth didn't even recognize Cloud, and Cloud was just a means to an end to cast meteor and become a god. Then again, there was that scene where Sephiroth drags Cloud for one final mental battle (Still not sure why Sephy is shirtless) so by the end, Cloud did earn that hatred.
Zenos needs the WOL to feel alive and respects them as a friend and enemy. not out of a petty need to avenge his ego like Sephiroth, it's like Batman and Joker. I prefer Zenos honestly, like post flanderization Sephy just blares out of nowhere with his theme song to ramble a bit about this pear, and then get his ass kicked, these days.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I would have preferred it if Zenos had just stayed dead, but I'd also be fine with him dying the next time we meet him, perhaps as the climax of the 5.X patches.
I'd be significantly more annoyed with him if he continues on into 6.0 and beyond.
Yes, I would much prefer Zenos being taken down sometime during the patch content. I don't think he was a strong enough villain to carry Stormblood by himself (which is why the Yotsuyu patch content story was, generally, much more engaging), and I especially don't think he's strong enough to carry another expansion. Unfortunately, I think he's being set up to, since we're in direct conflict with Elidibus now. So either we:
- skip out on actually fighting Elidibus over the course of 5.x, dealing only with the fallout of his plan and working on getting the Scions back home, and fight Elidibus in 6.x;
- the same as that, except Zenos shows up to gank Elidibus and we kill him;
- the same as that, except we don't kill Zenos and he's the big bad of 6.0.
I can't help but feel like #3 is the most likely.

It's been fun.Zenos as a character is just dragging out for me. We as the WOL never get to see him thus far and we the player only see him just running around looking for his body and then mucking things up at the empire.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Zenos is a character that if he exists in a void, he's not a good character, he's an amazing personal nemesis for the player to fight. The problem with him post-stormblood is that he hasn't bumped into us since then. It's not for lack of trying, but until we meet him face to face again for a fight, Zenos isn't a character, he's a walking plot device pretending to be a character.
His interactions with Fordola and Varis are entertaining and well done and he does upend the plot and humiliate Elidibus. That's not a void at all. He does have other elements aside from being obsessed with us.
C'mon give him some credit, it's satisfying to see him humiliate Elidibus. Plus him upending Garlemald opens up a lot of storytelling opportunities, and he shows character in how utterly monstrous and single minded he is, you may not like him, but don't call him a void. That's Exdeath.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It's less that he's a void, and more that I'm not particularly interested in seeing or hearing much more about him. We've already fought him like four times, and none of them really provided any intriguing insight into who he is or what he wants - because he's a rabid dog who wants to fight us, and that's all. His ideal end goal is to be an expansion-ender boss (again) without any deeper motivation (again), and I can't help but feel like there will be an endless parade of "oh yeah, Garlemald just casually recreated the ultimate Allagan weapon and can now mass-produce it somehow because genius" until that point.note
And that's my problem with the latest reveal for 5.2. They need Zenos to be relevant to the overarching plot too, so all of a sudden he has mirror-clear visions of the destruction of Amaurot and has been having them for years, despite being Echoless and confirmed unsuitable by Emet-Selch. And this is the most recent and most blatant example of welding new things onto Zenos to extend his usability, but not the only one.

It's been fun.I've just completed the final quest of the Beastmen tribe questline.
I am so disapointed that you never get to fight Nhaza'a Jaab. This guy is a goddamn boss.
the questline for which expansion?
because each expansion has a special questline after completing all the beast tribes for it

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaThe first one, ARR. I should have mentionned it.
I got his mask though, and that's pretty cool.
Wait till you see the other beastmen finale quests in the expansions.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I still need to go back and do ARR's. I've done the other two since they streamlined the process. I think that's how you get his Phantom of the Opera mask?
I already looked ahead. I know what happens. Still disapointed we never get to fight him.
Yes, it is. He's the owner of that mask, and it drops from the finale of that questline.
I'm going to transmog that mask on literally all my head gear.
And of course we will never fight him because the story is always about the beastmen coming together while you take a backseat.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.
Him being powerful enough to defeat his own body was pretty stupid.
I need more to really see him as a genetic freak of nature. Like Machio in How Heavy Are the Dumbells You Lift is a genetic freak of nature and has always been one, and you see it with him being extremely huge and ripped before he even started lifting weights in middle school.
