Honestly, to me it is always worse if someone is not a true believer in the bullshit they are peddling, because they know better yet choose to peddle bullshit anyway. That said, genuinely believing in bullshit is never a valid excuse either.

Tats, get off the Internet. Comics are one of the easiest media in which to follow the Show, Don't Tell rule. Plenty of artists have figured out how to play with text size, font, and colouration to show the audience how the character is meant to be delivering his lines. Adding a note to explicitly tell the reader "HE SAID IT IN A SEXY WHISPER VOICE" is pretty pathetic.

Also, the angle-bracket markup without a leading slash is an opening tag, which goes <explaining things to idiots voice>before the text to which it pertains. If you want to have the closing tag, which goes after</explaining things to idiots voice> the text, it needs a leading slash - as demonstrated here. But it's still silly to use a textmode markup convention in a graphical medium.

This comes across more like a Pettyfest or a Shitty Webcomic remake. The punchline doesn't really make sense, as to my recollection Lily has never before wondered about his gender, aside from getting a feminized misnaming from his addled dom.
