I can DM 4th edition. I did that with a bunch of friends that liked destroying enemies in brutal fashion instead of role-playing, though, so yeah.
http://www.last.fm/user/BlueGhost60honestly, this sounds like a good idea. I would be willing to play as a player character, no D Ming for me. I don't have the multi-tasking skills required for it.
My Dream Journal. Updated daily!Since I'm trying to take this seriously, as opposed to letting it become another "I want to play too!" thread, I'll say this...

...I am generally free on the weekends, and Sunday evening might be a good time in case I need to be out of town on Saturday (which happens rarely but occasionally).
Friday evening, not so much, but possible; I do have a Games Club meeting then, but as I'm merely an occasional member, this shouldn't be a problem. Just be it after 7 PM. Also, there's the risk that I'm all tapped out from the week, and I might be tired. So count Friday evening as in.
Monday evenings and Tuesday evenings are also fine. Monday I can start pretty early in the evening, but Tuesday would be a late-evening deal.
I am in the Eastern time zone (GMT-5, GMT-4 during daylight saving).

My schedule is pretty open as of right now till January except for maybe Saturday night (not for sure, I have another Dn D group then when uni is not in session)? After January, I will be open pretty much every night except for Fridays, but it depends on my track and field schedule.
All in all though I am really flexible with my time.
Oh, I am eastern time zone when I am home and central when I am in uni so time zone differences is definitely not an issue for me.
My Dream Journal. Updated daily! What systems do you play?
And do you feel like mentioning what sorts of play styles you enjoy most? (I'm just curious.)
I play 3.5 dnd and any and all of the New World of Darkness games. however, I am really REALLY open to any system as long as I can grab the books on them and take a looking at them.
Play style wise, I tend to be a little on the end of liking to make crazy plans and ideas. I like having a flexible system for new ideas and stuff to come in over time.
My Dream Journal. Updated daily! So we've got two players for D&D 3.5, but one DM for D&D 4 so far.
I'm gonna ask around in Vent to see if people already there are interested.
I'm on for 3.5. I won't play 4th. ed. Though. Never. Ever.
You might want to check out Open RPG, it's an insanely handy program designed for playing over the internet. Very useful.
EDIT: You might not want to have me in though considering the probably time zone differences.

"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThis actually sounds like fun!
I would especially be interested in a 4E game, though I have played all versions of D&D but First edition (And a smattering of World of Darkness here and there) and wouldn't mind either of them.
I unfortunately can't commit to being anything but a player, as I DM one of the campaigns I currently play in, and it takes up most of my free time as it is.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! So, initial discussions with people on Vent turned up interest from Matrix and Starbound2, who are interested and might have free/flexible schedules, but don't know how to play.
Anyone want to inquire on Vent to see who else is interested?
Update: Zudak doesn't have any experience with TRP Gs, but is interested and seems to have a good schedule. vandro says he doesn't have experience but also says that he's read a ton of sourcebooks (which is probably more than what a lot of us have done). He might not have as good of a schedule, but it may be workable anyway, since I've seen him around Vent enough times.
arimnaes has said there is a possibility he can be our GM. There are some circumstances to be worked out, but this seems more likely than not (i.e. > 50%) at this point.
With this information, I should say that it is very likely that we will be playing D&D 3.5.
I haven't yet spoken to Starbound2 since last post, but I will try to get Matrix to say something.
update re: matrix: I've told him to post here. I dunno if he'll remember, but last I saw of him he was having a lively conversation about role-playing with arim.

I would be interested in a 3.5 game. You all know what my schedule is like.
I don't, actually, though we can discuss this in vent unless you wanna post it here.
Pacific time zone, I'm available weeknights until about 10:00 p.m. and weekends all day. Usually.
Sorry about that.
As I mentioned on Vent yesterday, I'm up for it, but my schedule will be rather erratic until I get back to school in January.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.So... no chance for a 4e game? Though I might be persuaded to join another 3.5 game. Maybe.
My best times are usually on weekdays at 2-8am [GMT]. Just, you know, FYI.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...So thats 9 PM to 3 AM EST?
Kara: that sounds like it might work out. Since 10 PM for you would be 1 AM for us in eastern.
Galeros: It's okay; I think there were a confluence of unfortunate factors that led to the thing falling apart.
Kyler: As Neccy60 says, he can DM 4e. Perhaps if you get a group together for 4e, we could totally also have a 4e group going.

I usually have afternoons free on weekdays, so something like 16-21 GMT? On Fridays or Saturdays I can play longer obviously (pretty much as late as 3 or 4 in the morning if neccessary (just need to stock up on caffeine.
Aslo, as mentioned, Open RPG is great, but we could just use Vent I guess...

"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntYou say that but somehow, I am hearing "CTS was being a dick." I think I might be one of those unfortunate factors. Ehehe... Sorry about that. I think I'll stop.

My troper wall's now my troper page, yay!No, I don't think it was your fault, but feel free to disagree.
Arilou: The main problem with that might be any attempt to do anything in the late evening Eastern, which would translate into being the wee hours of the morning GMT.
Playing in the evenings eastern time is pretty much only doable Friday or Saturday (since I can sleep the day after) Sundays could possibly work out because Sunday evening for me would be around midday/morning for you yanks, but these are pretty much the only possible times.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntWhoa, I think Meeble fell through the cracks here.
Meeble, what's your schedule like, relative to late-evening Eastern Time meetings?
No worries, GMH, I've actually learned since I originally posted here that I may have the opportunity to pull in some second shift work over the next couple of months, which would make weekday evenings difficult for me.
Good luck, though, I hope you all can get a group up and running. =)

Perhaps something that we could conduct using one room on our Ventrilo chat. My two experiences with play-by-post games have been rather unsuccessful.
On the other hand, that might also be correlated with the fact that both were advertised as games for new players. I've played several in-person campaigns, and of them, two had a significant numbers of new people. One of them fell apart due to having not just new people but simply too many players (about 9 at max). The other lasted for an entire semester, however, so that's a data point in the other direction. I've found that having new players seems to make it hard for games to stay together, though, especially on the internet where people feel very free to drop out due to lack of time (and have few consequences of looking bad).
This might be similar to how college students form "shotgun" social groups as freshmen, groups which tend to fade out in favor of interest- and activity-based social groups, over time.
So, I'm thinking, maybe I wanna try a similar approach here. Perhaps we should openly discuss what sort of experience we want to get out of a game, so we can have some better insight into who each of us might most enjoy playing on campaigns with.
In any case, I'm looking for a game. I don't know how to DM, unfortunately, even though I think I might actually be most suited for that. Willing to play D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder. (And some other systems, though this is technically a D&D thread.)
Also, if anyone's interested in a Risus game for no apparent reason, I'm up for it. But that's in a separate category (i.e., the lulz category).
