I certainly did not expect Noir to follow in Ciel's steps as an idol singer. Great singing voice too, her duet with Ciel was awesome.

New episode PV:

EDIT - Finished this week's episode. My commentary:

1. Having been told that Ideal would be coming for the shuttle, Mystere, Maria, Ellie, Adventure, and Kanata prepared adequately for Ideal's assault in the form of arming the oil rig laboratory and preparing Dragon's teeth-esque traps in the surrounding forest. Michel wastes no time managing to be a good fighter to impress Maria.

2. More Gilbows had been built, though one was shot down by a linear railgun Kanata took the field with with his Daisyogre's new form, Daisyogre Fix. He does well enough against Kurokamen/Macht and his white Gilbow afterward. Then Tokio/Licht appears, urging Kanata to leave Kurokamen/Macht to him with Kanata obliging.

3. It's revealed that Mouton was a Type Zero all along, utilizing his Magus Skill Overclock (which allows him to device a quick way out of an attack for the Drifter to act on). This, and tricking Kurokamen/Macht into letting his guard down by quickly using a decoy when it looked like the former nearly killed has Licht/Tokio be the winner. He tries to get Kurokamen/Macht to surrender only for Weisheit to appear in his personal Craddle Coffin, Noahgamechanger, and damage Johngassmaker. It has a katana, it can fly so fast that Mouton can't pick it up with Overclock, and it has tentacles.

4. After bombing the oil rig lab, Weisheit personally steals both Mystere and the rocket; forcibly restraining Mystere with smaller wires launched out of the tentacles and doing a forced termnination on her. He then abandons his subordinates, including Kurokamen/Macht. It's then that Tokio/Licht lays it out to the latter that Weisheit wishes to exterminate all Magi and adds that Ciel died because of his machinations. Still processing everything that happend, Kurokamen/Macht tries to execute Tokio/Licht only for Schnee to disable Gilbow, refusing to help the former. Oddly enough, Weisheit didn't destroy the linear catapult.

Very creepy/funny to see the same type of Magus body/visor.

As I voiced two pages ago in this thread, should we establish a thread to the upcoming prequel game Synduality: Echo of Ada already since this anime is almost over?

So this episode was where all the combat animation budget went. That was a ton of fun to watch. Story-wise, big surprise, Weisheit screws everyone over haha.

[up] It's how I felt about the episode too. I hope the last two episodes will keep it up.

I guess we can do the Ada thread.

PS - Still can't find the OST with the tracks for the show.

Problem is, how many videos do we have to use when setting up the first post and how do we cite sources on how the game will work? If you start up the thread in the Video Games conversation, people will start asking lots of questions.

I’d personally just wait for more details. But there’s no hard and fast rules for when to create a thread/article.

[up] We already have four trailers (five if you include this untranslated one) and this gameplay video.

Though I agree, since the one argument I've heard elsewhere is that the online mode is a prerequisite to unlock the offline campaign missions. I plan to seeing if I recruit someone I talked to about the game here into TV Tropes to help shed light on that (he or she cites an official Discord server that's tragically Japan-only on details about the game).

UPDATE 1 - Also, here's next episode PV:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84xfC2UA9jg

I had to link it this way because something's wrong with the embedding feature.

UPDATE 2 - Someone started a translation of Synduality: Ellie (the anime from Ellie's perspective). If someone wants a link, please ask in PM.

UPDATE 3 - Got back from this week's episode. My commentary:

1. Histoire is revealed to be a satellite that, according to Kurokamen/Licht, archived everything about the history of Earth and constantly moves. However, it has a hidden function, it can access every Magi built and Weisheit does this to disable them all, claiming mankind shouldn't need them and that he can guide mankind to a world without Magi. He never gave a concrete answer for why he hates them, just that he's annoyed they're called "Magus".

2. While every Magi is disabled, Noir isn't. While it may have to do with what a Notationally Omnipotent Interactive Reproductor is, we'll probably get a more concrete explanation next week. Also, based on why Histoire can access every Magi (if assuming Hajimari no Aoi: Synduality Roots doesn't answer this), I can imagine Historie and NOIR were invented before the Tears of the New Moon, presumably by a France-sponsored team (hence why Histoire responded to most of Weisheit's commands in French).

Weisheit is a very shallow villain but he's sort of amusing. I assume Noir was able to escape the widespread Magus deactivation because she was technically created by Pascale with some sort of black-box tech, instead of being an Amasian creation.

[up] Noir wasn't an Amasian creation NOR created by Pascale. She's a Notationally Omnipotent Interactive Reproductor who came into Mystere's body when she and Pascale hacked into Histoire (see this seasons's eighth episode). Based on why she wasn't disabled when Weisheit had all Magi disabled and how she claims she can't stand Weisheit, who hijacked Historie in order to go after all Magi, Noir must be a part of Histoire itself.

[up] It stopped being mere Enemy Mine when he and Tokio/Licht had their talk before they launched with Kanata.

UPDATE - Finished the last episode. My commentary (slapped into a Wall of Text in a folder to not lengthen this post):

    Commentary

1. They never got to the bottom of what a Notionally Ominipotent Interactive Reproductor is. Which would have helped how Noir wasn't forcibly shut down. Weisheit just sees Noir as a "parasite pretending to be something already pretending to be human". Noir herself doesn't even know what she is over the matter.

2. Apparently, two Type Zero Magi can perform a joint Magus Skill as everyone, Weisheit included, learned. Here, Kanata still thinks Weisheit had another reason to hate Magi but Weisheit simply repeats what he said about them being nothing more than pretenders in being human. When Tokio/Licht and Kurokamen/Macht try to reason with him by trying to prevent him from being sucked ot of Histoire, Weisheit doesn't listen and asks the Histoire AI if he could have succeeded in creating a world with the need for Magi but the latter tells him it depended on mankind as there are too many unknown variables and that Magi can make mankind's future less certain. When Weisheit asks if Magi can turn on mankind, the Histoire AI answers that it depends on mankind. Weisheit then claims the "world is too unpleasant" and lets go of Licht and Macht, allowing himself to be forced out but not before leaving behind a force field to seal up the hole. Then, his last moments are thinking about Ciel.

3. Mystere then offers Kanata, Noir, Kurokamen/Macht, and Tokio/Licht a reentry vehicle as a way to return to Earth but warns she can't come with them as she's needed to restore all Magi, including Schnee and Mouton. That, and staying on Histoire allows her to be with Pascale for eternity. She finally stops calling Noir and Kanata "dud" and "hack" respectively before bidding them farewell despite Kanata and Noir promising they'll do their damndest to see her again.

4. And we have a "Where Are They Now" epilogue:

a. Daniel decides to also be a DJ. An excuse to play Rx R's "Departures" with "Ma'am" enjoying it, much to the amuesement of her subordinates.

b. Kurokamen/Macht and Schnee reorganized Ideal into dedicating themselves to restoring the world by their own means.

c. We have a big hint that Claudia is an Amasia survivor because she seems to have found Pascale's grave and when asked by Flamme who she was, Claudia claims she "knew her a long time ago". Could that mean she isn't the woman who held the larger version of the stuffed rabbit from the Amasia Investigation trailer for Echo of Ada?

d. Michael again fails to propose to Maria because the latter opted to test another rocket. Maria knows of this but doesn't care. She asks Ellie if she's okay with leaving Kanata with Noir with the latter assuring her she's fine if Kanata will romantically chooses Noir.

e. Tokio/Licht intends on crossing the ocean as his new goal with Mouton offering to accompany him despite the risks.

f. Kanata and Noir still intend on finding a working rocket to reach Histoire again, no matter what it takes.

TLDR, A good way to end this anime, even if it's just the tip of the iceburg considering we have Echo of Ada. Personally, I found that it did things better than a certain mecha anime in terms of worldbuilding and how to end a story.

I thought the implication with Ellie was that she's already secured Kanata, so to speak.

Claudia was implied to be an Amasian survivor before, so that hypothesis tracks.

Anyway, yeah, I'm fairly satisfied with how things wrapped up. Weisheit was a hack, but he did provide a formidable challenge for our heroes to overcome.

Question is, is this woman a younger Claudia:

Of course, that would contradict why she claims she knew Pascale a long time ago.
