Topaz seems like the better choice since she has good synergy with Aventurine.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.That's what I am leaning towards. I just finished building Lynx and she carried me through MOC up to 12, and I have Luocha & Avvie now to work on (Luocha is already really good at 70 with unfinished relics, he kept everybody alive against Aventurine 12). So I think I'll be good with sustains.
The main reason Fu Xuan is still enticing is because she would be a better fit than Lynx in Quantum teams (on top of also being another Quantum Shortstack). Qingque and Silver Wolf are super squishy and I'm afraid they'll just get instantly splattered dead if it's Lynx who's keeping them alive. Plus, sadly, Lynx does not synergize well at all with Xueyi.
But yeah, Topaz-Ratio-Aventurine looks like a strong core. And it's not like I'm swimming in hunt characters. Or Fire ones for that matter.

Luocha is a really hard counter against Aventurine of Stratagems.
And for what is worth, it's likely that Topaz gets her rerun now over Fu Xuan because of the story so you can still get them if you use your guaranteed on Topaz and then hoard for Fu Xuan.
Also, I just noticed that one of Aventurine's possible teams would be the CART: Clara, Aventurine, Ratio and Topaz.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.Oh my god. I got Aventurine in seven 10 rolls, but in doing so I got one copy of Luka, two 4* light cones, and six copies of Lynx. Lynx is the only person on the banner I don't use!

Lynx is cool. For me she's one of the best examples of a solid mid-tier unit: not the best option by any means, but does her job remarkably well. Also she's helped me clear a ton of SU runs, and she's easy to build (except for Blade units don't tend to want HP% relics).
I struggled a bit with the second stage of the current event (the one where you need to lose/gain HP, with Argenti as a final boss) because I was using the free Luocha since it was a 5*...but the second I swapped him for Lynx I got the S rank.
Went in with 180 rolls and a dream, and reminder, I've only been playing this game for 3 weeks.
I came out of that with E0S1 Aventurine, and a Bailu as my only 50/50 loss, and that was when I was going for Jingliu next.

Goddammit, Schezo...Hm, the texts I got from Aventurine have us thinking he's dead. Have any characters had their texts redone when the story advances?
The closest I can think of is Luocha after the Jingliu quest. He no longer shows up on the express and doesn't send or respond to messages after it since he went to prison.
In case you didn't see it pop up in the character status screen, Acheron's affiliation has changed following the conclusion of 2.1's main questline.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainSweet I got Aventurine with my 25th pull.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I've gotten Adventuring and Archon. Just reached Trailblaze level 4. Should I focus on leveling everyone to 70 first and then traces? Focus on farming for ascension mats and exp? This grind is rough.
Traces have the biggest impact on your stats, especially your damage output. They should be the priority at least until you're level 6-7, after that it becomes more expensive and you improve less with each one because mathematics.
You can do a ton of content with a good team of 4 at level 70, the last 10 levels cost a ton of mats.
Yeah, don't skip out on traces, they are easier to build up than artifacts in general and some (like the ones that need boss materials) are pretty important to get the most out of a unit.
I would also suggest putting the next equilibrium quest on a hold until you have maxed out everything to level 70 or 7 because, as Bexlerfu said, the last 10 levels are pretty expensive in general.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.Don't level everyone. You're just not going to be able to get your full roster into a usable state
cries in still no fully-levelled roster
Though I guess I "only" have 9 more to do at the moment, so there's that. Then there's the endless struggle of getting enough usable relics that everyone I have is worth using somewhere.
I’m not sure if I can agree on that.
Between the Simulated Universe, Memory of Chaos, the relic fights, Pure Fiction and now even the story bosses I think having a diverse crew ready to go is the better option, at least if you don’t want to (or can’t) pull for 5 star units as often.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.Leveling everyone is a bad idea, leveling quite a few is something you will need to do. Generally any 5*s you can get your hands on should be built as good as you can get. Beyond that Herta, Pela, Qingque/Xueyi, Tingyun are very useful in comps in general.
Then beyond that any 4*s that can support your 5*s. IE if you have Kafka/Acheron then all the other Nhility 4*s are super useful.
Look at, in any order:
- Personal taste
- Role coverage (DPS, Support, Sustain)
- Type coverage
You have Aventurine and Acheron, so one excellent sustain and one excellent DPS. You can complete your team with another DPS and a support. Like...considering what you wrote and the banners you must have pulled on, you should be able to use Aventurine/Acheron/Luka/Pela. That's actually a quite nice team that should allow you to clear most of the game's content (I can't think of a single tough boss whose weaknesses are Wind/Fire/Quantum).
Plus Nihility characters have a tendency to synergize very well between them (especially if you later get your hands on Black Swan and/or Kafka), so you should never feel like you've built a character that has become completely useless.

Personally outside of my main team I don't build characters until I need them and even calling what I do building is me being generous.
But I also don't do SU, The Forgotten Hall/Memory of Chaos, or anything like that because I don't consider those things fun. Only time I even touch Stagnent Shadows, Caverns of Corrosions, Calyrexes, or Echoes of War is when I need to grind materials and thankfully I haven't had to do that much at all since beating the Lufou story.
Edited by Chariot on Apr 21st 2024 at 2:06:22 PM
Why not do at least the SU? Never having Planar Ornaments for your characters is rather... uhh *insert the Mythbusters' "There's your problem"* meme here.
And doing Mo C up to whatever you can is just leaving a mountain of Jade on the table. Like if ya do up to 8, you only need to do 8 once every 3 weeks for like 450 jades.
I would agree that the Swarm Disaster is not well designed, but Gold & Gears is a pretty fun roguelite. And unlocking the cards & events can net you a significant amount of jades, too.
I did level Pela previously to level 50 so I will continue with her. And then add in Rei Mei who has been a mainstay on my team. I've also reached the part of Forgotten Hall where I need 2 parties so I guess I'll use Trailblazer and the free Ratio.
Also, I'm having difficulty beating that boss at the end of Rei Mei's event to get the trace material drop. What's the best strategy? Especially when it summons those minions.

If the boss is in his multiply phase you either focus on breaking its toughness because that will trigger a massive dmg Ao E which will take care of the adds, or do the opposite and Ao E the Adds down so their explosions break and debuff the boss.
The boss is mostly a tank check though so if all else fails consider bringing two sustains.
If your Acheron and Aventurine are already online they both should work great for this boss, Aven has strong shields and will trigger lots of Fu A's due to adds hitting his shields. Acheron's ult meanwhile gets extra charges from the debuffs that trigger when the adds explode. Pela brings both debuff application for Acheron and can hit the ice weakness. For the last slot you can bring either Luka or Welt as a second Nihiliy which can help with the breaking of the boss.
If you have neither you might just slot any Physical, Ice or Imaginary char.

Sorry, answering this again cuz I have an updated answer. I simp so hard for this man, my LORD.
Who allowed this man to make an exit with THIS much swag? I can't get over this.
Goddammit, Schezo...
I had a decent stockpile, and got Aventurine, before losing the 50/50 on Jingliu for, you guessed it, Bailu (E1 now), whom I'd rank at the worst possible option among the seven except for maybe Gepard E2 (I'd rather have Yanqing E0). Both came around pity time.
But I got both Luka and Serval at E6 from E0 with only a couple of wasted Eidolons on Lynx. So it was about as average as you'd expect. I can now start saving again - the question being whether I should save for Topaz or Fu Xuan or Firefly.
