Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Then I guess I've been reading the wrong reviews. No but seriously, I did read some reviews where they praise the animation as well as the characters and storytelling. But, like I said, since they mostly praise the animation/art-style I got the idea that that's the only thing they focus on; so I guess it was a misunderstanding on my part, sorry.

I'm wondering if the sequel brings back Olivia. Maybe she's the Greater-Scope Villain.

I really hope more major animation studios try stuff like this. Tonally, I mean. And with the longer run-time.

I also have a theory that the Silk series is gonna be a spin-off of this movie, given that the show is called Spider-Society.

Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea. I like the art-style but if all the animation studios starts doing the same thing, people are gonna get tired of it very soon.

I at least want more movies to take after the very kinetic style and creative shading of this film

Yeah the various art styles to highlight the mood and different universes are really on point here.

This movie def should win some kind of award for art direction and animation.

Spider-Verse kicked off a style that is rather versatile; Mitchells vs Machines, Puss in Boots, TMNT Mutant Mayhem, and Wish are all using the same basic ideas behind it but in different ways. I don't think it's in any real danger of becoming stale anytime soon.

Even though he's clearly in the wrong, I feel a little bad for the Spot.

IIRC, wasn't Blue Sky's Peanuts that started this animation trend?

Yeah, the Spot gets some pity and laughs from me, but I expect next movie he'll get a lot evil.

Something tells me that if this and the sequel do well, we might get at least one more Spider Verse film.

If we get more Spider-Verse stuff I would love a movie featuring an uber-Kraven family engaging in the greatest hunt in all of the spider-verse.

Or maybe something with Venom, I really wanna see what a symbiote would look like in this animation style. Venom and Carnage would look incredible.

I find it hilarious that we got two lord Miller projects where the main character makes a you tube apology video in as many weeks.

On a related note, I'd love to see what could be done with horror in this style. We've got a taste of that with both the Wolf from Puss in Boots and the Spot here, but I would like to see a whole movie with that sort of spookiness.

I’m just wondering how Gwen, Peter B., and Peni are going to make things right with Miles. Even given their reasons, this was a MASSIVE breach of trust and I imagine he’s not going to be willing to trust them at all.

My personal theory is that Noir and Spider-Ham are going to have to play intermediaries, given they weren’t seen in the Spider Society and not involved in that fiasco.

I wonder just how much Spider-Punk knows/suspects about what is going on. He was at the very least ambivalent regarding Miguel's plans even before Miles told 2099 where to shove it, but that could just be his anti-authority streak.

Plus he headed to Gwen's reality with a spare watch and a note suggesting he had foreseen what would play out.

Also, I genuinely loved his particular design/aesthetic but that is by the by.

Definitely a part 1 of 2, but man it is worth it. One of the prettiest movies I've ever seen.

Agreed. Second film is gonna shake the very foundations of animation and cinema.

If Beyond the Spider Verse is even only just as good as this film, I'm gonna call it and say this will be the best Superhero Film trilogy ever made, beating out The Dark Knight Trilogy. But if the final film really is gonna be the absolute best one, it will be one of the only series of films other then 90's Gamera where all 3 films get better then the previous one.

And just like the 90's Gamera trilogy was a game changer for Special Effects in Japan, this will be a game changing trilogy for Western Animation in general.

Fucking rad as hell movie is all I can say so far. Here’s hoping Beyond sticks the landing.

Also it’s cool that Peni’s new mech more closely resembles the comic version.

I feel like the Wolverine trilogy of films is also an example, albeit one where the quality goes up several notches each time.
