I'm looking for four or more players willing to enter the dystopian future of the Paranoia RPG System. As a newly minted Troubleshooter, it will be your job to explore the massive, overly-complex arcology that is Alpha Complex, find trouble, and then shoot it. Don't worry is trouble shoots back; you have five back-up clones, so can die up to six times in the game. In theory you are working for the all benevolent (and only mostly obsolescent) Friend Computer, but most of Friend Computer's orders will be filtered, interpreted, and tweaked by the massive human bureaucracy that has grown up around Friend Computer.

You will start out at the second-lowest clearance, RED. As a Red Clearance, you can basically ignore the the majority of Alpha Complex citizens who are Infrared (black) clearance, but are expected to obey orders of Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet clearance citizens. In the highly unlikely case you meet an Ultra-Violet (white) clearance citizen, you are advised to grovel and immediately flee their presence as soon as possible.

As a red clearance citizen, you will be expected to wear red colored overalls and eat at red cafeterias (where the food is usually the same industrial nutritional gruel that is fed to the infrared clearance citizens, only with slightly less mind-numbing drugs and the occasional attempt to use chemical additives to make the gruel actually taste like something. For tasting like something you actually would want to eat, you might have to wait until you make Orange level). You will earn XP (Expenditure Points, the new electronic currency created by Friend Computer) and be allowed to spend it on personal goods (assuming your XP isn't fined, taxed, or otherwise lost).

To try to make the game simple, I am going to use a VERY boiled down version of the most recent rules from Mongoose publishing. Instead of the sixteen skills, I will only be using the four stats (Brains, Chutzpah, Mechanics, and Violence).

You will need to assign a number from two through five to each stat, where five is your best stat, two is your worst stat, and three and four are in between. Please note you will use each number once and only once for stats; no trying to make a character that is all fives.

Brains is how alert your character is at spotting and analyzing clues. Chutzpah is how good your character is at lying influencing others and stealth. Mechanics is how good your character is at repairing and operating machinery (and explosives). Violence is... pretty self-explanatory, I think.

When I roll to see if your character succeeds at a task, I will roll a number of D6 Dice equal to your health (Starts at 5) minus any penalties. Each dice that is equal or below your stat number counts as a degree of success. No success means your character failed at the attempt, a low number of counted dice means the character might succeed with consequences or only partially succeed, and a high number of counted dice means your character succeeded very well.

Character names in Paranoia take the form of NAME-R-SEC-1, where NAME is a simple name (Examples: Dave, Sarah, Cuppa), R is a one letter designation of clearance (You will start at R for red Clearance, SEC is a three letter designation of your 'birth' sector (pick any three letters you like) and 1 is the number of your starting clone. Whenever your current character's clone dies, the number will change. Every person has an implant in their head which allows them to communicate with Friend Computer and also share memories to their clones, so your new clone knows everything that happened to the previous clone.
