Trailer showing all the companions
Can see people lamenting you can't romance the sister of battle or the Space Marine.
Looking forward to that Ordo Xenos Inquisitor and Eldar threesome.
No romancing the battle nun? Damn. They don't even have an oath of chastity!
Avatar SourceOnly one alien party member too. How annoying.
That's frankly more than is expected from your usual Rogue Trader party.
Lets just say the tabletop allows it but it makes life... difficult.
Already impressive you get one and an ordo xeno companion. That's gonna be fun.

the weirder part is it's an Eldar and not an Ork or Kroot. I know there are rules for those, and they actually do merc work.
Avatar SourceEldars are in the table top too. Corsairs and Pathfinders. Heck there's even a supplement for Tau exile (which is broken AF).
That said, Orks are... super disruptive to a ship. They have no concept of "peace" or "downtime". So like, have fun with the violence monster who only understands violence and will turn on you if you dont let it do violence while your ship is in the warp for weeks on end.
Kroots are more common and functional but also come with the caveat that they'll cause a violent reaction on 90% of planets you stop at. And they'll want you to fight "interesting" stuff (ie: Not just humans and necrons)
And we know from the announce trailer there's necrons involved.
Huh, wonder how I missed the Eldar. Need to go pore through my sourcebooks again.
Though I was always more interested in the rules that let you drag the Sisters of Battle over from Dark Heresy and how to manage XP stuff, so...
Avatar SourceKroot have enough iron in their diet
...not that they could get any from necrons anyway since they just teleport out when they would die
Pffft, there are rules for Dark Eldar characters in the Rogue Trader RPG. Owlcat is clearly run by prudes: some of the shit you can do in Baldur's Gate 3 proves that.
Harlequin. Get the ship murder clown.
Their is another alien companion, a Dark Eldar named Marazhai.
Huh can't say I expected a Dark Eldar companion. Can you imagine if he was romanacible? That would be like watching a darkly humorous train wreck.
I have to wonder why he joins the group. Guess I'll find out.
Release date is December 7, 2023.
Also revealed is Marazhai, a Drukhari companion.
But can you romance the Dark Eldar for a special game over.
Consequences showcase.
"Alien" party member when they're just humans with pointy ears.
Come on, Owlcat, I know you probably wanted to start small, but nothing else? No kroot? No Orks?
There is actually already an Ork Kommando party member. You, of course, just can't see him.
Kroot would make perfect sense since they do mercenary work plenty.
I am a bit annoyed that Xenos and chaos seem to be lumped together in the "hereticals" axis. That probably means we can't be a rogue trader wanting to brign down the Imperium without spouting tentacles, horns, feathers and maggots and screaming about the True Gods.
Tried the beta
Why do all of Owlcat's games begin with your party being suddenly attacked out of nowhere.
Ranged weapons feel really weak compared to melee. Hope this gets fixed in the final release.
This might just be because it's the beta and things arent complete, but the game has way less voice acting than Wrath of the Righteous.
There's an alignment system, in three axis (Imperialis (Following Imperial Doctrine) Benevolentia (Giving a shit about people) and Hereticus (Self evident).)
At least in the beta, some of the characters use the same classes/doctrines you do despite what you might expect. So like the Sister of Battle is just a marksmen with the Ministorum background. So wonder if the Space Marine's just gonna be another fighter.
I don't love the UI. It borrows alot from the Pathfinder game, but a lot of details are harder to parse in it.
Chargen is kind of a chore if you've not played any of the fantasy flight RP Gs. The game isnt great at explaining what does what. This game has also way more stats than Pathfinder does and how they related isn't always as obvious. The game doesn't explain to you like how an attack roll is made, for example.
The soundtrack slaps.
Avoiding going further than the prologue in the beta.

Ground combat guide.
Regarding the spoiler: It's Chandler's Law.
Early review/pre-launch impressions are in, and it's an owlcat game: great story, good character writing, bugs and a gameplay that is complicated and encourage min-maxing.
Having played wrath of the righteous on launch and seen what a bug riddled mess that was I cannot fathom playing this in beta.
