I'm actually really excited for this. The narrative seems to hit very specific beats I don't get enough of and it looks gorgeous. Probably the most hype thing from the Direct for me.

I’m pumped for it too. An HD-2D overhaul of a quirky previously Japan-only cult classic JRPG is the kind of surprise I like in my Directs hahaha.

Hopefully, they'll make Akira stronger and remove the Sundown Kid's ability to deal 999 damage every other attack.
Masaru seems to retain the "learn moves by getting hit by them" thing at least, though I'm not 100% on whether the moves have been changed. Was the move "Fleetfoot"/similar in the fan translations or is that new?

I wonder how they're gonna handle Princess Alicia and her complete cluelessness about what Oersted went through. Will she get a bit more depth? Maybe a chance to learn the truth and realize what she did to Oersted?

All I know about Bahamut Lagoon is that it was one of Motomu Toriyama's first works and also features memetic NTR
Maybe they'll change her quote in Akira's dungeon? There do seem to be some significant story changes, I think the one I noticed was the Xin Shan Quan Master still being alive after the attack on the dojo to train Li. So Alicia learning more about Oersted's predicament is possible.

The trailer and promotional screenshots show each character and enemy with two bars: blue and yellow. The blue one is for health, but I can't figure out what the yellow one is for, since Live a Live doesn't use an MP system or anything similar.

It's a meme format jab.

But like it's sort of lost meaning and becomes the default insult for anything with text.
We're specifically parodying those Joker society memes. Even though the Joker has never actually said anything like it, and it was just some rando dude on the internet that we all ran away with.
Even the Joker movie ad-libbed it.

The multi-chapter format seems unique even decades after the game's original release. I don't know too much about the original- though I think I'm already spoiled on the biggest plot twists- but I'm excited about this game.
