Destruction Flag Otome/My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! general thread

I've been on a Destruction Flag fic binge recently, so figured we needed a thread.

First off, I think this is my favorite short fic: DLC: The Noble Lady's Kindness. Fortune Lover fans are very confused when a new, Katarina-focused DLC is announced. She's by far the least popular character in the game, so where the hell did this idea come from? Of course, she turns out to a little different from expected. Features social media, fan nicknames, and references to flame wars.

Another short one: Lemon Cakes and Late Confessions. Gerald and Katarina are married, with a beautiful child, another on the way, and lots of loving nookie in between. KATARINA STILL DOESN'T REALIZE HE LOVES HER.

And now for a loooong one. Current length: 249 chapters and 509007 words (yes, that's half a million words): Maria Campbell of the Astral Clocktower. Maria is a reincarnate... from Bloodborne (specifically Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, That One Boss from a DLC full of them). Lots of Black Comedy and Sustained Misunderstandings; Katarina is still a reincarnate from Japan, and Maria is so emotionally stunted that she assumes Katarina being nice is an attempt to invite her into her harem (which Maria assumes is literal rather than figurative). Oh, and in this fic Fortune Lover was made by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and is in fact the distant future of Dark Souls. No, no one understood why he chose to make an otome game.

Bleh. Automatic downvote for focusing on second-worst boy.

For the record this offical ordering (aka my personal preferences ) are:

• Maria (she has discovered the way to Katarina's heart. Through her stomach)
• Sophia (because Acchan)
• Alan (it's not about chemisty, but physics. Specifcally the mutual gravitational attraction between two hyper-dense objects)
• Mary (she would be higher but loses points for being a wee bit too manipulative for her own good)
• Ginger (tsunderes are fun, but volatile... and I kind of ship her with Frey)
• Nicol (Boy needs to learn to emote!)
• Sora (he loses to Nicol on seniority)
• Geordo (too smarmy for anyone's good)
• Keith (I despise the "Not really blood related siblings" trope otherwise he probably would beat out Geordo. In the meantime he's beat up by the Westermark effect).

I'm of two minds about Ann but if ​we are including her she slots in between Sophia and Alan. Lana in not a suitor, she's a troll.

Please reccomend your fics in this order of priority

After the first season of the anime last year there really was an explosion of fics for Bakarina.

I think there hasn't been as many this time, but its still very high compared to most anime fandoms.

Some of the fics I enjoyed the most. Anything unlabeled for pairings is either canon dynamic or Katarina/Everyone

Restart Katarina/Maria fic that sadly seems to be incomplete. Involves original Katarina which I like.

Zuchini Flowers Katarina has a midlife crisis. Long oneshot 23K~

Blood In the Tea Geordo & Maria fight over Katarina.

Serial Fiction Sophia gets everyone but Katarina together to sort some things out.

How Do You Solve A Problem Like Katarina? Katarina/Maria long oneshot. Not growing up with Katarina, Maria notices some things.

Last two are newer fics that haven't got a lot of content yet.

Apropos of Atropos Is one I'm interested to see develop. Not a lot of content yet, but involves the gang sans Katarina finding a magical book that gives them snippets of Fortune Lover. Most recently they've twigged onto the fact Katarina knows something about it too.

A Beginner’s Guide to Dark Magic, International Travel and Consorting with the Enemy A fic I'm really interested in seeing continue. Going by the tags it seems to be Maria/Original Katarina/Geordo going from the Bad Ending to Geordo's original route.

For the record, according to AO3's numbers, Gerald is the lead pairing with 16.9% of the fics, Maria is a respectable second place at 15.4%, and Katarina/everyone gets third at 11.0%. Mary and Nicol are about tied at 8.3% (though as of this post Mary has one more fic than Nicol), Keith and Alan are tied at 7.1%, and Sophia is last at 6.5%. Honestly, Sophia shocks me. You'd think she'd at least beat out her brother.

I thought Zuchini Flowers would be funnier than it is. It's a surprisingly serious exploration of a mid-life crisis, with the extra added angst of her friends having no idea why she's suddenly listless.

Maria Campbell of the Astral Clocktower chapter 253 is up. What to do when your workers want unfair employment and insufficient wages.

Is anyone else reading this? It's super long, and the explicit rating is misleading (two chapters out of over two hundred and fifty are explicit), but it's also really good.
