I am told Hyper Propellant and Fat Boy are the best overclocks for killing your teammates "accidentally". Hyper Propellant will allow you to do more times, but requires more aim and provides less of a convenient alibi.

I used a fat boy mod that dug out huge chunks of the cave.

Sometimes, you even kill bugs with it?

Well, the radius is massive as I said, plus the mod gives the Fat Boy 22,000 in AOE damage so....yes, it kills bugs.

Deep dive of the new spin-off Survivor

Picked up Survivor. Seems like a pretty decent horde survival game, and feels DRG-y enough with the mining, swarms, and objectives. Overclocks seem pretty vital to clearing runs, and it's a bit annoying that you have to level each weapon up to 12 the first time to unlock the feature for them >_>

Apparently the CEO of Ghost Ship Games was previously approached about a DRG TV adaptation. He basically said it's a possibility they've considered, but they're too busy to do more than consider it right now.

Also, the maintenance update added a beer that just makes you play prop hunt.

Well I sure wasn't expecting that: Mk6 armour sets will be dropping during the anniversary.

The new armor is great, the backpacks really sell that it's Powered Armor (with no performance improvements compared to standard armor). It's almost a shame to cover up some of the details with a full, lustrous beard, but they're now my preferred armor if I want to wear a full helmet.

Now if they'd just combine that sort of bulk and detail with the ornamentation of the Scale Brigade armor...

Prop Hunt is devious during anniversary mode, and I expect the other holiday modes are going to be just as challenging for the hunter. But honestly, I'm having more fun ordering a round unannounced and using it to mess with my usual crew when they're taking TEN MINUTES to pick a loadout for Grungni's sake. See how long it takes them to notice the extra barrel that's in a different place every time they look up from the terminal.

I'm intrigued by the new mission coming in Season Five and the hint that we'll be "searching" for something. Maybe it'll be like a Point Extraction with a single objective somewhere in the area? Though I'm still holding out hope that we'll get an Industrial Sabotage rework someday. Better variety with the boss fight, less tedium hacking the power stations, please devs.

Ghost Ship Games held a stream yesterday discussing their various projects, Season 5 for DRG being one of them. Here are the details:

  • Season 5 is called Drilling Deeper, which is themed around, well, drilling deeper.

  • New mission: Deep Scan. Deep Scan has the dwarves searching for morkite seeds, which are buried verrrrryyyy deep in Hoxxes. They need to find resonance crystals in a hot and cold treasure hunting method. Once all the crystals are found, scanners are placed on them to triangulate where the geode is located. Once that's found, Mission Control will send down a "Drillavator'', an elevator that is also a drill! This will get the dwarves to the morkite seed, but bugs will attack from above as the Drillavator digs down and the Drillavator might have a hard time digging through harder rocks, so it will need to be maintained (probably similar to how the rock crackers have to be maintained to keep working). Morkite seeds will be stuffed into Molly and from there you can call the Drop Pod to leave.

  • New season event: Core Stone. No details were given other than it will involve more than just digging out this new stone.

  • New enemies:
    • Barrage Infector. Similar to the Spitball Infector, but it shoots its gun in a shotgun spray, which can stick to surfaces and the dwarves before exploding shortly after.
    • Vartok Scalebramble: Can be found on the walls and ceiling. Long range attacks. Need to show its three glowing orbs to expose its core.
    • Glyphid Stalker: An invisible Glpyhid that is mostly quiet and will let out a shriek when it's ready to attack. It can disable your shield for several seconds! Will spawn independently from swarms / mini-swarms. Devs consider it to be a melee version of the Glyphid Menace, as in it's an enemy you want to prioritize in killing.

  • Twelve new overclocks! Four were shown:
    • Engineer: Pump Action (Prototype) for the shotgun. Massive damage increase at the cost of far less ammo and more spread. Will make the shotgun act like a typical pump action shotgun.
    • Gunner: Mortar Rounds for the Thunderhead autocannon. Fires mortar rounds for massive AOE damage, but has very little ammo and very slow rate of fire. Devs not that the rounds pose a very high friendly fire risk.
    • Driller: Inferno for the flamethrower. Holding the reload button will create a big horizontal wall of flame projectile to torch everything in front of you. Eats a lot of ammo and greatly reduces movement speed.
    • Scout: Marked for Death for the M1000 Classic. Focus shots will shoot a dart that will make the target temporarily take more damage. Focusing will also occur much more quickly. Ammo consumed from focused shots will increase and the magazine size is reduced. Unfocused shots will do next to no damage.

  • New performance pass tree for season 5.

  • Cosmetics from the previous seasons can now be obtained by playing the previous seasons' missions and performance pass trees. Progress will be retained if you switch seasons. Cosmetics from previous seasons will no longer appear in cargo crates, which will help reduce the loot pool bloat as well as making it easier for players to get certain things they want.

  • New difficulty! Hazard 5+ will have four variables you can adjust to create your own challenge; enemy aggression, player vulnerability, more enemies (how many can spawn), tough enemies (likely enemy health or armor). A mission chain will have to be completed to unlock this difficulty.

  • Promotion tracker will keep track of how many times your dwarves got promoted, even if they hit the max rank.

  • New anomalies and warnings:
    • Blood Sugar. You're constantly losing health and need to Kill enemies to regain health.
    • Secret Secondary: There will be an additional secondary objective to complete, thus a bigger payout most likely.
    • Duck and Cover: Enemies with long ranged attacks will spawn more frequently.
    • Ebonite Outbreak: Ebonite Glyphids will spawn frequently.

  • Cosmetics menu now has filters so you can search or narrow down cosmetics more easily.

  • New and improved overlays for screen effects like your shield, goo, blood, etc.

  • More cave formations.

  • Ommoran has a new phase in its boss fight! It will conjure crystalized claws to trap the dwarves so that Doretta is unprotected. Likewise, if a dwarf is on Doretta, the claws can go through her to trap the dwarf, which will damage Doretta.

  • More weapon maintenance rewards.

Never thought about spicing up the Omorran event, even though it's technically even same-y-er than the Industrial Sabotage boss. Neat.

I like the idea of customizable difficulty, and wish it was an option for the lower hazard levels I usually play on. It's going to be hard to go through the assignment to unlock it when I barely play Haz 5 as is, and my Steam buddies stick with Haz 3.

New mission type, new enemies, new cavegen, excellent, excellent. Maybe that will be enough to shut up the belches of "dead game" in the comments section... bah, of course it won't.

But most importantly, new cosmetics! New paintjobs! New disasters to shamble out of the wardrobe after hitting the Randomize button!

(though I'd really appreciate a nice blue paintjob for the Scout's armor, something like his equivalent to the Gunner's "Copperbug" color scheme or the Engie's "Top Dog")

Dead game is a stupid ass meme and it's not limited to DRG. Payday 2 has it whenever the devs so much as breathe.

And I think Hazard 5+ was made specifically for people who kept complaining how there's nothing harder than Haz 5, so having one with custom settings is the dev's way of letting the players making their own challenges.

I also mostly stick to Haz 3 with my friends on Steam. Could use a 4th for our group *hint, nudge*
