Oooh! I loved reading this series! It was such a creative and intriguing series and I was always excited to see what would happen next! I still need to read the 9th volume of this series though. But, why was this series on hiatus?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Apparently, Vaughan refuses to let Saga become a show.
Gave the comic a second shot and the Kindle preview Amazon gave me was not enough, I need more material to read before giving it a good opinion.
Basically to recharge from burnout and because Vaughan felt he needed time to watch his family grow up and get new inspiration from them.
I have mixed feelings about the return. Arcs 7 and 8 were both good and felt like they had a point to make overall, but Arc 9 felt like a bunch of deaths just for the sake of deaths, and the return of characters who didn't seem to have a point in coming back.
Loved the earlier volumes but... as it wears on it just feels like the family can NOT catch a break ever. And yes, the deaths are happening so fast and furious it can't be for anything but shock value. Not to mention possibly the single most obscene desecration of a major character's remains in issue 55 (if you've read it you know what I'm talking about). The ymmv page calls it straight-up misery porn now and that's an apt description.
Since I can’t see a topic for this yet, I’ll share the news that this brilliant series is set to return next January after a verrrrry loooooong hiatus. https://comicbook.com/comics/news/saga-comic-series-returning-in-january-2022/
