Well, that depends on your opinion of Anniversary. I really enjoyed it. But I guess a lot of people don't have a high opinion of it?
I'm not very familar with the older games, but was the disclaimer I heard was released with the remaster really necessary, or was it just a standard precaution to convay, for the record, that the game was made in a differant era?
There's a number of stereotypes in the games, and not flattering ones.
"In a move surprising absolutely no one"To be fair, Tomb Raider actually tried to go away from that as one of the original design decisions was that Lara Croft would be shooting animals not people unlike Indiana Jones and it would mostly deal with fictional civilizations and artifacts (ala Atlantis).
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I liked Anniversary, that's why I wonder if this remaster is redudent.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Whilst I thought Anniversary was a decent game in its own right, I did personally find it weaker than the original in a number of ways.
Like the fact that they made the T-Rex fight a QTE sequence was very disappointing, as was the way they dialled back the horror vibes that build up over the course of the game. The Atlantis levels in the original kind of felt like walking into hell, and that was much less present in the remake.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillDecided to buy the Remastered Trilogy, since it was only 30 dollars. To anyone else playing, are you using the classic tank controls or modern controls? Do the tank controls feel okay once you get used to it?
Edit: Never mind, tried the modern controls, didn't like it. Really, the big obstacle to tank controls is training your brain to use the D-Pad and pretend the sticks don't exist.
Another Edit: This is my first Playstation purchase in awhile, so I forgot Sony doesn't do native screenshot sharing anymore. Oh well, X's fault.

Okay, note to self, save often. Instant death traps are a thing, and these remasters do not include a checkpoint system.
I used the tank controls at first but I got tired of the way Lara can't make tight turns so now I'm trying modified modern controls.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. What killed the dinosaurs? Lara Croft, of course.
Peru's a pretty great intro to how weird this series can get. You go from exploring the caves of a snow mountain, to exploring a lost city, to... A jungle environment with no signs of snow... and dinosaurs.
I think that's just normal for Peru.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Found a great recreation of Tomb Raiders cutscenes which honestly would've elevated the remaster to new heights.

I finished all three expansion packs in the remaster and man they're a doozy, especially with certain secrets or other hidden goodies requiring you to be at full health to survive the drop.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. In non-video game news, Evil Hat are doing a Tabletop RPG Tomb Raider game.
Announcement here.
I wonder which elements of the game continuity it'll keep.

Such a weird concept and also not even the first TTRPG for the franchise
But is the remaster better than Anniversary?
