Right, that's part of the overall Strawman concept, which originates from debate and persuasive essay circles, but the straw character is a little different as pertaining to this conversation.

I was always under the impression that a strawman by definition is supposed to be presenting a deliberately weak or unconvincing form of the belief in question, though.
