I beat Heat 32 with the Rail! :D Now all I have left to do is get all the cosmetic award badges. Which is gonna take quite a while looking at the list. XD

I got Hades on PC last week. I've only played an hour and a half so far, but it's pretty fun.

Just beaten the first Fury for the first time.

Although I've been playing M+K so far, but I was thinking about refunding the game on Steam and instead getting the Switch version for the ability to play on the couch.

I finally beat Hades without God Mode for the first time. I still have 2 lives left. I was lucky enough to obtain Heartrend and shaved off bosses' health very quickly.

[up]Never played PC version before but I assume that it is easier to play ranged weapons on K+M and melee weapons on controller.

I just noticed that Skelly has a coin in his mouth. So his mortal body apparently was given a proper burial by someone. I guess that means he's already permanently dead.

That coin's also a hint as to who his employer is. As is the one fight you can't summon him using his companion doll.

I have been progressing through the game. As of this writing, I have 27 clears so far out of 177 runs. My latest clear was a run where I ended up beasting out with Merciful End and the Fists, with Ares on attack and Athena on Special and Dash, though I didn't manage to get the Duo Boon in question until the Styx. Took down the Big Guy and his summons very quickly. It helps that I've also taken to remapping Special (which normally I have on Left Shift) to Right Click instead of Cast, since I don't use Cast all that often during runs.

Recently did a run with maxed out Aspect of Rama. Had a bit of trouble at first, but once I got a Zeus Flourish boon on the special it suddenly clicked for me.

Then I got the Static Discharge, Double Strike, and Splitting Bolt. I also had the Demeter boon Frost Strike, so I got Cold Fusion too.

Also got the Divine Dash and Greatest Reflex. So by the end I was dashing around like mad deflecting everything while shooting tons of arrows bringing electric death.

Good times.

Edit: Forgot to mention I also had the Artemis Call, the Support Fire boon, Pressure Points, Demeter's Crystal Beam, Glacial Glare, and the Duo Boon Crystal Clarity.

Also had the Privileged Status upgrade from the Mirror, something I could easily trigger thanks to the Crystal Beam with Glacial Glare (Chill status effect) and the Rama special with Zeus Flourish and Static Discharge (Jolted).

The aspect of rama bolt basically guarantees no matter where you shoot from that yu will land your thing. If you base your damage on some effect, lik Zeus or Ares rather than the damage of the actual impact you will get tonne of results.

I love the bow tbh.

Before that I was favoring Aspect of Chiron. Now it's a tossup between the two for me.

Haven't tried Hera though.

It is always nice to get a build that just makes procing Priviled Status a breeze.

I generally go Rama when I use the bow.

So far my fastest run has been using a Heart Rend build with the Gilgamesh fists. Getting Sweet Surrender and Broken Resolve from Aphrodite helps to soften the buff you give bosses when you apply the maim effect on them.

Persephone has been absent from the House for multiple runs now. As for Zagreus he is still trying to butter up the gods, so I sometimes have to go for my less-favored gods like Ares.

Ended up refunding Hades on Steam and grabbing the physical edition of the Switch version instead this morning.

Swapping over to controller is a much better experience for me. I'm much much better with the Sword and even the Bow (which I thought would be harder to use) for the simple reason dodging and using specials is much much easier with a controller.

Got to the Bone Hydra on my third run on the Switch.

This artwork of Zagreus influenced by all the gods' Boons is gorgeous! (Has spoilers for a god who can only be found once you make it to the surface once.)

That is very pretty.

I can look at it too, because I've made it to the surface once on my 11th run. Died with about 30% health left on the boss.

Although I'm up to 16 now and have yet to get past Elysium again.

I got my fastest run so far last night. About 13 min 30 secs. Was using the typical Eris Rail with Zeus attack and a I ran into a natural Ares boon so I decided to turn it into a Vengeful Mood build. Learned that the Eris Rail buff actually works on all damage, including revenge damage, so I was doing so much Passive Damage it was insane.

Made it to Hades again on my 21st run.

I probably would have gotten back earlier, but I normally just use which ever weapon has the bonus. Which limited me to dying against the third boss most of the time.

I used the same combination again, with Ares' Doom on Special Boon and the Aegis. It's just so powerful a combination. By the end I was doing 250 damage with the Doom effect.

Plus I got a bunch of money buff so I was getting 265 from coin chambers.

I got close, but died with 40% left on Hades' second phase.

Kind of a random question, but does anyone know if Zagreus recognizes Orpheus and/or Eurydice during the credits if you beat the game without meeting either of them? Is it changed if you only met one and not the other?

Just bought this game today. Aaaand...I'm completely lost. I've watched a few beginner's tips videos, but without context it's difficult to understand. I know I should go for those golden hammers, and try to get Athena's heirloom to get that dodge-reflect upgrade, but that's as much as I understand. I'm mainly hoping to figure out how to recover health every so often and how to obtain the various resources needed to purchase upgrades.

You don't have to worry about specific Boons early on, just get as far as you can for now. The purple drops are Darkness, which are used for Mirror upgrades, Gems are used for House Contractor upgrades, Keys have a variety of uses, and Nectar is used for raising bonds with friends/family. There's more than that but those are the four basic amenities.

I would focus on getting Darkness as a first goal since its benefits are easy to see and practice with, as well as Keys, which are used to unlock new weapons and more Mirror talents.

In general, health recovery is rather rare. You regain health by drinking spring water. Springs are always located after boss fights and right before the final boss. If you give commission to the contractor he will make water springs show up randomly throughout the levels.

If you play the Sword, then the Cursed Slash hammer upgrade allows you to regain 2 HP for every hit you make, but your HP is reduced to 40%.

Don't expect to beat the final boss before 20 tries. It took me 50 tries to beat the final boss without God Mode.

One of the Dionysus boons really helps in this regard, though you want to get it early in the run. It makes it so that every fountain restores you to full health and gives you a slight damage boosts damage.

And yeah, early on you want to prioritize Keys and Darkness.

I kind of just focused on gathering resources for the permanent buffs early on while learning how to play.

Although once you hit 10-15 runs I think its helpful looking up some good boon combinations for your preferred weapon types.

Because personally I didn't realize how useful some of the Duo boons are, because a lot of the early ones I got were too situational or lackluster.
