It is the year 2020. Rome is torn apart by war. Blades clash in the Colosseum. Bloods flows through the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican is under Siege. And yet...no human in the Eternal City seems to notice. It is a war waged beyond their periphery, outside their senses and beyond their mortal understanding. It is a war for their souls.

Since time immemorial, two forces have been clashing over humanities fate. For order and virtue stands The Will and its host of angels. For chaos and sin fights The Desire and its horde of demons. Both recruits from the souls of the dead to join them in the struggle. It is a war that has not yet seen an end, even as each side waxes and wanes. Battles are fought across continents, transcending cultures and faiths. Legends arise each year, remembered and forgotten all the same. Heroes and Villains born and slain.

This is the story of new legends. Wether they will make their mark for Sin or Virtue remains to be seen.

____________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to Sins and Virtue. This is a anime-themed roleplay, with strong focus on action and plot. The setting is modern times, but you are allowed to use characters from various different ages, if you really want to, excluding the future obviously. Please refrain from using historical characters, like Jeanne d'Arc or King Arthur, though.

Your characters are also dead, or at least used to be. They are soul which have been recruited by The Will to join his host of angels. That includes wings, by the way. That necessitates that they died, obviously, and that they agreed to join his cause, to fight against the evil demons. Being reborn as an angel means they are given their body at a time they were at the strongest. That means, if your character died of old age, they would be reborn at a physical age of 30 years. If your character died young, they would be retain their final age, except if earlier years they were more fit.

We start the story out with your characters still being angels, but in the process of the intro, they will fall. Being Fallen means, you are stuck between order and chaos and belonging to neither side. Outcast by Heaven and denied by Hell, essentially. They will have to survive and figure out what happened to them, all the while unwrapping the history behind the War. Fun times...

The writing would be mostly free-style, but the combat mechanic are dice-dependend. The way this works is that you have four dice at your disposal: D4, D6, D8 and D10. You allocate each dice to the following attributes: Combat, Virtue, Sin and Will. What each of those attributes do, you can see below.

Finally, this game is set out for about four players, maybe five. Seasoned roleplayers/writers are preferred, so please keep that in mind.

__________________________________________________________________________

  • Name: Your characters name. This can be both their real name and their nickname/title they got as they ascended as an angel. Latin is preferred for the latter.

  • Age: Your characters age. State both physical age and mental age.

  • Appearance: Looks and physical traits, including equipment. White wings are mandatory as an angel, obviously. Once your characters falls, this appearance will be updated.

  • Personality: What is your character like? Quirks, likes and dislikes.

  • History: The backstory. Please recount your characters mortal life here and how he/she/they died. Generally, it would be nice if they are new as angels, but if you want your characters to have ascended earlier than 2020 and already having a career in Heaven, that can be negotiated.

  • Combat: Your first attribute. Describe here combat-style and weaponry. Can be anything from guns to swords or even just fists. Purely physical stuff. Add your preferred dice at the end to symbolize how good/strong your character is in that attribute.

  • Virtue: Your second attribute. This ability should represent your characters Virtue. See it like a superpower, wether it be conjuring blades or invisibility. It should however be somewhat connected to one of the following virtues (the second word represents alternative takes) = Chastitiy(Purity), Temperance(Humanity), Charity(Sacrifice), Diligence(Persistence), Patience(Forgiveness), Kindness(Satisfaction), Humility(Bravery). As usual, allocate a dice.

  • Sin: Your third attribute. This ability represents your characters sinful nature. His bad, or rather, more chaotic side. It will appear once your character has fallen. It should be connected to one of the seven sins: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride. At the end, state your dice.

  • Will: This is your fourth and final attribute. This represents your characters willpower, faith or general point of focus. It can be something as simple as religion or more esoteric like belief in fate. It can be cynical or idealistic. As long as it something like a goal or core that your characters clings to, that defines him. Will represents their humanity and how strong theri nature as Fallen affects and changes him/her/them, both in good and bad, in spirit and body. Put the dice at the end.

Declaring interest! May I re-use Kayne from Valhalla? I feel like she fits the setting due to her making a deal with angels in order to become a magical girl in her backstory.

Also, I'll wait for some other people to declare their interest too before posting my signup, that way I won't accidentally post only one signup to an RP. I hope you can understand.

[up][up][up]You would have to tweak Kayne a bit, since magical girls aren't really a thing in this setting and powers are very much personality-based. But the base is good, so I see no immediate issue.

Well, strong characters are probably able to level a building or two. In general, fights are going to be on that kind of scale. Very, very few characters are city-wide threats and such things are usually reserved for major NPC's. If you lucky/unlucky, you will meet them.

Kicking someone across the room would be not too out of place. Standard shonen-action, minus the power-creep later on. In general, you would start on the lower spectrum of power, since most of you just started out as angels.

The weakest angel/demon is able to fight most normal humans and soldiers with ease. Imagine it kinda like Servants from Fate/Stay Night, minus the Anti-Army/Anti-World Noble Phantasm.

You roll, compare and highest roll wins. There will be bonuses for various actions, advantages and so on. You will also be able to upgrade/strengthen your attributes, so your basic dice will not remain as such.

There is also exploding crits, in which rolling max on a dice allows you to roll again and again, so long as you keep rolling max. It ensures that even smaller dice have a chance.

You know what, just have someone else entirely.

  • Name: Sage Miller / "Sagitta Caelorum"
  • Age: ~16 upon death in 1940, been in Heaven ~60 years
  • Appearance: 5'2" and 125 lbs. Has a distinct, far-reaching stare and more than a few scars on her. Limps and slouches slightly. Can sometimes be seen with a straw in her mouth. Her wings are white like all angels' are, but their shape resembles that of a barn owl's.
  • Personality: Sage is hardworking, but cheerful. She is polite and generally tries to help others. Sage lives up to her name, as she is studious and likes to read when not drilling vigorously with the rest of her angelic host. Her biggest aspiration was to go to college and become a professor. After taking up arms in an attempt to stop a band of German soldiers from taking over her town and sacrificing her own life in the process, she's determined to help her fellow angels and humanity however she can.
  • History: Ever since her family moved from the United States back to their ancestral homeland of Italy, Sage's life was a quiet but peaceful one in a sleepy farming town nestled in a forgotten corner of Europe...until Germany started invading everyone and World War II was sparked, that is. Her town was spared from most of the fighting and chaos due to its obscurity, but that changed one fateful day when a band of undercover German soldiers tried to hold up her entire town. They largely succeeded, and gathered their spoils in a nearby forested area while talking about whether they should kill the townspeople or not. Sage, being young, stupid, and brash, loaded up the musket her parents gave her to shoot crows and other pests, and went out into the forest by herself. Her skill with firearms and her territorial advantage saved the day by convincing the soldiers that they were being cornered by reinforcements that had been called in, and they retreated, but not before firing a few rounds into the brush. Sage was shot in the torso 13 times during the ensuing firefight before she bled out and died, joining the Heavenly Host from then on.
    • The Vatican Fiasco: Sage's first assignment was being drafted to join a Host that was specially designated to protect the Pope. Usually, a junior angel like her wouldn't have been given such a delicate mission, but a clerical error intervened and she found herself shipped off to the Vatican. Her credentials for being there were severely questioned by her superiors, but when Hell's forces inevitably arrived to assassinated the Pope, she was right there fighting alongside her Host. Wielding several antique cannons like bazookas, she managed to blast the whole opposition to bits while coming to her Host's rescue. Due to the massive collateral damage that ensued, her Host was disbanded and she was given other, less dangerous assignments that wouldn't force her to break out the level of force she used during the Vatican Fiasco (as it came to be called, even though the Pope was saved). This incident lead to Sage cultivating a hidden, simmering resentment towards Heaven's higher-ups for their Head-in-the-Sand Management which lasts to this day.
  • Combat: Sage favors the muskets that she learned to use in life, with or without bayonets. She's learned how to hold them in both hands to blast away at whatever foes that she encounters, with unwavering accuracy, earning Sage her angelic nickname, the "Heavenly Arrow." Sage also carries multiple muskets at a time so she can most effectively become a one-girl firing squad, juggling guns while she fights and putting out more devastating bullets than a mortal-made machine gun. When it gets up-close and hairy, Sage breaks out the bayonets, a woodcutting axe, and her plain old fists. {d10}
  • Virtue: Diligence/Persistence. It's become nearly impossible to keep Sage down for long, mostly because of the powerful healing factor keeping her on her feet. As long as her head and heart remain intact, the rest of her won't fall apart as easily. If either her head or heart gets damaged, her healing factor will slow significantly but not completely, but she can still be reduced to dust in the intervening moments. {d8}
  • Sin: Wrath. Sage died very horribly, and will always be filled with rage upon witnessing injustices and inequalities. If she wants her foes to die, they better damn well comply. However, because she's already received counselling in Heaven for her anger issues, she's good at keeping a lid on her anger, perhaps too much so. Her Sin causes her bullets to curve, ever so slightly, towards the people and things she hates. {d4}
  • Will: Sage fights because if the other side wins, her family's souls might be at stake. She can't allow anything to hurt her friends after all that she's sacrificed for them, so she fights on in their memory. Spending such a long time battling Hell isn't good for anyone's mental health, but she manages nevertheless. For family, friends, and comrades. For love and justice. Amen. {d6}

Hm..okay. I like it and I think with what you wrote, I can allow the 60 years service-times in Heaven. If you don't mind, I would then also give you a few more background infos, to allow you to better write a more experienced character.

Other that that, just a few niggles. From the sounds of it, your character is italian, but for some reason has an english name. Would be good to either have a reason for that or maybe change the name.

Also, a service-history for Heaven would be good. Should be restricted to european countries around the mediterranian, like Spain, Italy, Greece, etc. Nothing much, just maybe where she was and if she participated in maybe one or two operations. You can give them fancy names like "Operation Hiob" and stuff. Can be light on details, if you want to expand it later.

Other than that, the character is well-rounded, abilities are neat and I really like the concept as a whole. If you adress the few point I raised, I am happy to accept this character. [tup]

  • Name: Claire Connell / "Acribus Lux"
  • Age: 19 physically, 53 mentally
  • Appearance: Slender and fair-skinned, with deep blue eyes and platinum-blond hair that falls down to his waist. He wears long white robes and, as befitting an angel, has wings.
  • Personality: Stoic and efficient, Lux presents himself as completely unflappable and unfeeling. In practice, he constantly bottles up his emotions and pretends they don't exist...up until he explodes in a flash of Usually, what he's bottling up is annoyance and/or frustration, much to the displeasure of anyone around him when the dam breaks. He's surly and sarcastic, and can't stand jokesters or the excessively cheerful, but when he cares, he cares deeply.
  • History: Claire (don't laugh) Connell was born all the way back in 1967 to an old money family in England. The family was big. It was also rather screwed-up. While Claire could care less about the family fortune, most of the rest had their eyes on it. So when they all gathered to read the will of the family patriarch...it turned violent. Very violent. Claire attempted to flee the scene, but was shot several times and bled out.
    • Decades passed...and, in the winter of 2019, Claire woke up.
  • Combat: Using his Virtue (detailed below), Lux crafted a lance for use in combat. It's the only weapon he knows how to use, and while he uses it well, his overall combat prowess is rather lackluster. (D4)
  • Virtue: Chastity/Purity. In life, Lux was a perfectionist, and it carried over when he became an angel. Anything he creates is made perfectly, no matter what he's making or what materials he has to work with. However, he has to have some materials, and he has to craft it by hand. And they only retain their perfection if he's using them—if anyone else tries, they fall apart. Some might call it a letdown of a power, but Lux makes good use of it regardless. (D10)
  • Sin: Wrath. Lux does his best to remain composed, but tends to go flying off the handle if his buttons are pressed one too many times. And when he's mad, he's mad—he has a tendency to throw out blinding, searing beams of light from his hands. (D8)
  • Will: If you asked Lux himself what he was fighting for, he wouldn't be able to give a definitive answer. He doesn't like his family much (for obvious reasons) and he doesn't have many friends. But at the same time, the souls of everyone on Earth are at stake, and Lux isn't the type to just let people die when he can do something about it. So he fights against the forces of Hell, motivated by both the desire to help people and his own natural stubbornness. (D6)

All in all, good concept. But we already have one character with a longer service-history and I would really prefer, if we don't have too many veterans in the group. So either change up the date or we can go with that Claire's souls got raised a few decades after he died. He would be basically be waking up in 2019 or so.

As for Virtue, I would like it a bit more precise. Like, does his abilities has limits? What is considered perfect, since this seems to be a bit too broad. Are the items longlasting or do they dissappear after a while? Does he have to pay a price for creating something out of nothing, like stamina or energy?

Also, specifying exactly what he can create would be very helpful. Is it weapons or is he unlimited in creativity? Latter is fine, but it would need some drawback to balance out the sheer applicability of the ability. Lastly, does he have to sit down and craft it himself with materials he needs? Does that mean he suddenly gains knowledge on how to craft everything? Or do they simply appear?

Lastly, your virtue fits much better Chastity/Purity, given the emphasis on quality. Or Charity/Sacrifice, if you instead go for the instant-creation/stamina-payment version. Just saying that, since we already got the Persistence/Wrath combo and I would like to avoid too much overlap.

Jeez this took a while to get around to, hope it's not closed.

  • Name: Emil Thomassen / Igniculus "Ignis" Imito
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: 5'3" and not too happy about it. His hair reaches about chin-length, most of the time tied back over his shoulder. Igniculus would probably count as a bishonen if he wasn't built so disturbingly; what with bony wrists constantly swimming out of oversized sleeves, brittle cheekbones on the brink of piercing through the pallor they lie under, and sleek ternlike wings jutting out at odd angles. What sticks out about him—perhaps even more than the corners of his skeletal frame—is the fact that Ignis always has a tranquil smile on his face when spoken to, even though there's a 99% chance he's internally fantasising about wringing your neck.
  • Personality: Part-time typical frail Ill Boy, full-time ticking time bomb of borderline-delinquent rage about this close to caving and killing a bitch with his bare hands. Ignis acts serene and easygoing outwardly, but beneath his calm mask is an unholy amount of bottled-up anger towards the world—it seems to stem from both a tendency to fly off the handle easily and internal frustration with himself, so he especially tends to lash out when he believes he's being pitied. (Though granted with his appearance you're bound to take him about as seriously as a pissed-off chihuahua.) This attitude grew to the point that it's become a martyr complex; he intrinsically believes that he's a burden and tries to compensate for his lack of ability by throwing away self-preservation in order to make himself useful; as they say, there's a fine line between selfless bravery and suicidal recklessness, and Igniculus falls on the latter side more often than not. Some would go so far as to refer to him as in a state of denial. He's never truly felt in control of his life and privately has a rather morbid and nihilistic state of mind as a result.
  • History: Igniculus, or rather, Emil's early life was never all that pleasant—well, at least as much as a definition of pleasant could get for someone living on borrowed time since childhood. Which clearly did wonders for his still-developing psyche. Years of being constantly reminded that he was practically roommates with the grim reaper possibly destroyed him even more than the illness had his physical body; while initially a fairly normal kid, if not one sometimes too brash and straightforward, Emil began to descend into bitterness. Why hadn't he been stronger, anyway? Being the hotheaded adolescent he was, he couldn't feel much but anger at the whole situation, how nobody treated him as anything but his diagnosis any more, how everyone around him acted like they were already attending his funeral, how it constantly felt like he'd somehow gone wrong in existing. His own fear of mortality eventually did get to him—he knew it was selfish, but he wanted to live, goddammit, more than anything else. But there wasn't much else to do but smile and wave, and that forced complacency affected him more than he ever wanted to admit.
    • In the end, it was something he never expected that did him in. Taking a walk (after dealing with the hospital staff and a prolonged argument with his parents, much to his chagrin) to clear an overheated head one usual day, Emil noticed a small child playing in the street when who else but good old Truck-kun decided to make a cameo. You can probably guess what happened next—a panicked shout here, a deafening swerve of smoking tires there, and before he even knew what he was doing or why Emil's feet left the ground and he'd charged headfirst into the oncoming traffic, shoving the kid out of the way and safely across the street just as he was hit. In the next few seconds, the truck screeched to a stop and the passerbys watched in shock; starting to call for help, paramedics, anyone, but the young man lying mangled on the road had already stopped breathing.
    • And so, with the remains of a spreading crimson stain over asphalt and a final twisted sense of irony, in 2019 the story of the boy once known as Emil Thomassen finally came to a close. The one thing he didn't know?
Igniculus Imito's, on the other hand, was only just beginning.
  • Combat: ...Admittedly kinda pathetic. Ignis doesn't know how to use a gun, for lack of any experience with that sort of thing—give him any kind of melee weapon and his strategy vaguely amounts to "hit enemy with object until they fall down". (d4)
  • Virtue: Questionably, Temperance, otherwise known as Restraint. He's become a little too good at hiding how he really feels over the years, and apparently as an angel this translates to suppressing the effects of others' sins and virtues. Unfortunately this is useless when it comes to physical combat. (d10)
  • Sin: Envy. A lifetime of cursing that he hadn't been dealt a different hand has manifested in, well, exactly this. Igniculus doesn't feel his own sins crawling on his back, but yours (ba-dum-tssh); he can copy the abilities of those he touches for up to 3 people at a time. This is also unfortunately useless if he goes solo without doing this beforehand. (d8)
  • Will: Aaand here's where we come to the tiny little problem. He doesn't have much of a reason to fight yet thanks to this whole Host thing and perfect body being a very, very new concept to him. What he does know is that he's going to try to help the best he can, if only for the sake of what happened to him not happening to anyone else. (d6)

Well, that’d be jus’ a waste. Why would ya want to deprive the world of such anomaly as yourself?

  • Name: Bartolomeo Giuseppe Jastson
    • Angelic Alias: Umbertus
  • Age: 28
  • Appearance: Bartolomeo, as a mortal, would stand tall- as tall as his rather average height of 1 meter, 73 centimetres would allow him- and attempt to stare anyone down no matter their height, with perhaps not always the results he intends for. He tries though. To help him with this is a pair of green eyes, contrasting his dark, short, straight hair. He will furthermore usually be seen smoking a cigarette, an habit he knows is quite unhealthy but alas he cannot escape from. One of his teeth, in the back of his mouth, also seems to have been replaced by a silver fake tooth.

As for his clothes, he goes for a 'business' kind of look, with a grey suit neatly buttoned, a black tie (which took him far more effort to learn how to tie than he cares to admit), and a white jacket bearing a company logo above it, though it has darkened enough to no longer be readable. On his legs are a pair of quite high-end jeans, black in color, and below them are brand shoes.
One further detail to note is that he wears a pocket watch, golden in color, on his right wrist. A gift to himself for the first work bonus he ever got. In his pockets lay cigarettes- a pack- and a lighter.

  • Personality: As will be gone into more detail later, his first and perhaps main personality trait is how prideful he is. He will believe himself to be above everyone and everything and to deserve that place fully. He alone stands on top, and if he feels generous others may share in his radiance. Or something. He started out with basically nothing and had to work his way up to where he now is, after all, so he has had time to grow arrogant and to look down people.
He is rather smart and cunning, to be sure, and his success was not dumb luck in any way, as he can plan ahead fairly well and work out a strategy in most situations. However, that does require he knows what he's getting into. On the fly, his decision-making is limited at best and useless at worst. He can be quite studious at time, and attentive to details, as he has learned to be, to overcome his previously mentioned failing.
Something else to note is that he will usually appear very tired when he's not forcing himself not to; he works very late and basically has coffee as his only method of substainment. Oh, and smoking. Unfortunately, he started in high school to cope with stress and it never left him.

He is also quite untidy and has trouble keeping to a schedule, believe it or not. This was one of his greatest issues to overcome, and overcome he did, by using agendas and literally forcing himself to keep himself, his room, and his clothes tidy. He would often have to keep after the house anyway as his parents were not home until late, due to working extra hours out of necessity. He can perform most housekeeping tasks and cook quite well. Not that it will benefit much now that he's dead, but oh well.

Onto more important personality traits, it must be mentioned he is very vengeful. Petty, one might say. He will not forget an offense, though he may forgive. And if he does not forgive, he will make you pay. Nobody can do something to him, and not face the consequences. Somehow, he will try to get back at you.
But I guess I should add some positive traits somewhere in here, too. Jokes aside, he can be very determined when he has a goal in mind, even stubborn. His pride won't allow him to admit defeat, and he will keep trying until he either has to acknowledge he did all he could but it's impossible, or until he succeeds. However, by the same token, he can be blinded and spend enormous efforts on something fruitless.
He has things he enjoys beyond study/work: he enjoys a good book from time to time, he likes playing checkers, he sometimes also likes to play the flute to relax. He's not too good, but he does try his best, naturally. He loves classical music, finding it the best music for concentrating. He also really enjoys trying new flavors of coffee, and in general eating a good meal is something very likely to put him in a good mood.

Socially, unfortunately, he is... not the best. He will appear cold and closed off, as though, which he does, he looks down on anyone. He will not like talking about himself, or listening to others in general unless he has a good reason to. He will talk, himself, if asked something and if he feels like it deserves a response- otherwise he will just produce a disapproving grunt and move on. His speeches will be, usually, delivered formally and coldly, in a way perhaps not always matching the register of the situation he's in. He will generally try not to show many emotions, in truth.

  • History:
    content warning for: suicide

Bartolomeo's mortal life began as the son of Theodore Jaststone and Penelope Coletti, a couple that had formed between an american immigrant into Italy and a woman from there; specifically, in Milan, a rather big city in the north of Italy. I don't think it needs much introduction, to be honest. He is born there, and he is born into poverty. His father and mother both are workers at high-hours, low-pay jobs. Frequently, he'd have to get second and third-hand clothes and utilities, for one; add to that how he was the son of a foreigner, and thus in his home english was usually spoken over italian- leading to him having some issues speaking italian at times, especially when it comes to pronunciation; and how he was always the scrawny, not-very-physically-fit kid, and you get a good idea of why his school days were lonely, all the way through middle school at least.
So what did he do? He decided to study instead. He saw the other kids have toys and new clothes and stuff while he had nothing like that, and even if he could not understand it fully yet, he already wanted to become them, no, become 'more' than them. And as he was told, the best way, and really only way to do that was to study hard and get a successful job. He also wanted to help his parents, who he saw working so hard and coming home so tired every night.

His life in high school was similarly quite uneventful. It was here that he decided to go into business and finance as his future career path, and it was here he started smoking as a way to cope with stress, what with the load of work needed to get high grades increasing more and more. And here he made one friend, in fact. Luciano Ufagetti, his name was. Someone as competitive as he was, and as brilliant, but with perhaps a more attention-seeking and yet morally much stricter personality. These two would remain friends even after high school, even attending the same university.
...It goes without saying that they both got a scholarship, naturally.
But there was one difference, however minor. Luciano would not have 'needed' the scholarship had he not gotten it, as his family could afford to pay for the university anyway, whereas Bartolomeo had no choice but to get it with much sweat and effort.

Graduating from university with the best grades possible, they both found themselves employed by the same agency, though for different roles. To spare you the boring details, Bartolomeo was in charge of sales while Luciano, more charismatic, was going to deal with personnel administration tasks.
Here is however where they would also clash.
Wanting to rise up in the ranks, blinded by ambition, Bartolomeo agreed to a number of kinda shady deals that would return a lot of money even if not from very reputable sources. And rise up he did- but Luciano disagreed with the methods. They had a number of very heated discussions, and eventually, Luciano decided- he could no longer work there. Not when those actions were praised and rewarded. His friendship with Bartolomeo having been severed, he resigned and went to some other company. Bartolomeo never found out where, nor did he look.

That was fine, after all.
He had always walked his path alone. He would continue to do so. Nothing had changed.
—True, there were times he missed his friend. He was human, after all. But he always pushed those emotions aside, and smoked another cigarette when they came up.
And he invested himself fully into his business, the company he had managed to become an administrator of. He would make it prosper, stand at the top of the greatest business in the country. And he was close, at that. He might not have had a lot of people skills, but he did know his stuff and could make very good and keen decisions. True, sometimes he would call it wrong, but he usually could recover. The business was booming, and he was enjoying every step of it.

...Yet, only one upset in the balance of fate is enough to sweep away all that man builds.

It was one wrong investment. He had been warned it could backfire and lose a lot of money, but he could feel it. This would work out. And if it did, the benefits he'd reap would be major, enough to easily set his company up as the only company with that significant a market presence in Italy. And at first, it seemed like he had once again been right. The money was coming as expected. So he invested more, and-
—Lost everything
This was a heavy blow. A very heavy blow. Enough so for him to get fired over, even, and forced to pay back the company for. Furthermore, now that he was fired, he was also informed all the shady deals he had agreed to would be investigated. And in a moment, he had lost everything.
. There is no need to tell the rest of this story. What followed was the lowest point of his life, to be sure, as he realized all he had built was swept away. His money. His reputation. Everything.

He could not accept it. He could not accept it...!
He absolutely must not accept it. And so, he rejected the world that had dared do this to him... And his tale drew to a close, by his own hands. There is no need to discuss the exact method. Just know he will sometimes scratch at his neck, as though chasing away a painful, sorrowful sensation.

But the tale was not over. Usually, when the main character closes the curtains, it is all over. So then, just what could this mean? Someone had opened the curtains again.

His eyes opened again, once more.
It appeared there was still a part for him to play.

  • Combat: A scythe. Why a scythe, you may ask? Good question. The answer is simple: he was already above everyone in life, anyway, and now that he has risen even above death, what more fitting weapon than the Grim Reaper's own? Claiming one of the symbols of Death as his own weapon is even more proof of his pride. [D4]

—He stands even higher now, than them. There is nothing more to it than that. They will die, and he shall persist. This is a reward bestowed upon him, the one who was worthy.

  • Virtue: Diligence/Persistence. This manifests both passively as an increased resistance to pain (as in, he feels less pain. Damage will still be taken normally, he just feels the sensation of pain less.); and actively as a sort of time slowing effect in an area around him (he is unaffected), embodying the idea of diligence and hard work needing more time but paying off more in the end. This effect does not last very long, and leaves him quite fatigued. It is called hard work for a reason. [D8]

Even to the point of stubborness, he would walk his path unfettered. No obstacle was too great to overcome, no effort was too great. If he could see his goal, no, so long as he had a goal at all, he could keep on reaching for it no matter what. Studying harder than anyone to get a scholarship. Working overnight longer than anyone to solve a problem and get the project done before the competitors. Was it simply pride, not allowing him to lose to others? Or was it the satisfaction of a job well done...?

  • Sin: Pride. In life he sought to pridefully become the highest and most successful, and pridefully kept on going his way and fell from the heavens he had found- if you can call them heavens, even. Because he is the best, naturally, everyone else is inferior. This contempt shows in his way of fighting- he can use it to cause his power and speed, as well as the reach of his scythe, to increase by a significant factor. However, proportionally, the defenses of his "allies"- where allies is anyone who is also facing who he considers an enemy at that specific time- will decrease proportionally within a certain area from him. Truly a selfish power, isn't it? Not like he cares, anyway. [D10]

...That moment, when he saw the defeated faces of his classmates when it was announced he had gotten- the only one in his class- perfect grades. They were worth the scorn he got from them afterwards. The moment he was announced as getting the scholarship, and then the job position, and all the promotions. All of that, was it really worth the path he walked? For that moment, could he justify all of it?
—Yes.
He had no doubts. Because he was superior, because he deserved to be at the top, no, because the very path he walked was what justified all of it. He would accept their hate, their scorn, their envy and their tears. As the victor, he would laugh at them and continue climbing. There is no mercy for the defeated in this world, after all.

  • Will: Bartolomeo doesn't believe in heaven, hell, or anything like that. If you asked him, he'd reply with a grunt and a 'Maybe there's something, maybe not. I'm already busy enough down here'- he would probably describe himself as agnostic. What he does believe- what he did believe- is that death is inevitable, and that he must absolutely not die in poverty like some nobody.

—Yet, isn't that exactly the sort of end he's met?
So, this time, this time for sure. He will not be left alone in misery again. He will triumph and rise to the top this time, somehow. No matter what, no matter how, he will reach power and glory. [D6]

So then, will this feeling, as though something is lacking still, finally disappear...?

Okay, nice character-sheet. Just a little problem, we already have a power-copying ability, so Bartolomeos "Trace"-ability would have to be changed, to avoid overlap. Pride-abilities are generally very selfish, you got that right. That can develop into defensive abilities, like maybe rejection of physical damage, or even buffs and boosts that benefit only your character. Give what you have written about him, it would make sense if his Sin pushes him to greater achievements (aka a buff), but maybe leaves him with a drawback afterwards. Depends on how powerful you want to make it.

Otherwise, this is decent.

EDIT: also, I'm noticing that you have put two D4's in your character-sheet. Where is the D6?

Dunno how I missed the two D4's. Edited, anyway. Hope this idea isn't too selfish, ironically enough.
