"N-no "sniff" I'm fine r-really" She said clearly not okey but still trying to give a forced smile and making a thumps up symbol with her hand while some snot is coming out of her nose.

Houston skillfully mirepoixes — yes, mirepoix is a verb now — which is to say that she isn't familiar with this particular culinary art, so she follows the instructions provided. While she does this, she makes sure to quietly keep an eye on Maria, in case her heartbroken state causes any inadvertent disaster.

 Codex edit: I never did get to do as much cooking in the previous life as I'd wanted to. So, that's one silver lining to this fiasco.

After chopping, Chef has everyone take and simmer the resulting vegetable medley in butter over a low flame, emphasizing the fact that you want to take your time with this step.

He stops to watch Houston's efforts.

Maria Tried to turned on the stove but her inexperience with it caused her to leave the gas turned on for too long creating a huge shoot of fire that literally burned the vegetables she used a big napkin to tried to put it out with a napkin but then the napkin catch fire too she threw away on a panic and it hit the curtains next to the window and those catched the fire too, spreading much faster that expected.

 How the heck did you know that original Maria's clumsiness would still apply to the replacement Felix inadvertently soulnapped?  Then again, Maria is the only one of us who doesn't remember anything at all, instead of remembering the wrong life, so maybe... 

Showing no fear of flame, Houston immediately grabs two pot lids. Swiftly, they use one of them to smother the flaming napkin where it landed on the floor, turn off Maria's stove, and cover her burning vegetables with the other lid. "Chef! Where's the extinguisher?"

They just barely resist the urge to say A napkin, seriously Maria?

Maria started to panic looking around for anything that could put out the fire she saw a bottle she tought was filled with water she toward the curtains but it turned out it was wine so it just made the fire worst.

"SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY" she screamed repeatedly not knowing what else to do.

Chef immediately whips a fire extinguisher off the wall, firing a blast, then checks on Maria.

"It's all right, looks like no one get harmed, just learn to be more careful." Chef says. "Like I tell my husband, those who don't learn their history are doomed to repeat it."

At hearing his response she screamed, ran away crying from the class and she locked herself in the bathroom

Chef looks puzzled. "What did I say?" he asks rhetorically, then points at a student. "Keep the flame low! Loooow! This is about releasing flavor, not sealing it in! Disobey me again and its curtains for you!"

The student looks scared. "You'll kill me?"

"What? No!" says Chef. "I'll switch you over to sewing the replacement curtains. Understood?"

"Yes, Chef!"

Maria stayed sit down on a toilet from the school bathroom crying hysterically, she felt like the biggest idiot on the world there was nothing today that was going right for her, she like a total loser incapable of doing anything right she wanted for some other ninja to show up and just put her out of her misery already.

The last bell of the day rings. Miss Catillac, freshly showered and in a fresh leotard and leg warmers, but same lanyard / whistle, starts gathering the schools award winning volleyball squad together. Angel and several other girls gather, dressed in cheer leading uniforms and starts practicing cheers.

"Remember, girls, we need to get ready for our big volley ball game against Middleton High School!" Cleo says. She counts the people gathering and comes out one short. "Where's Maria?"

At hearing the last bell and having cried for a good while, she remembered that she still had an after school activity left so she put on her gym clothes again and went over to the school Volleyball field to take the practice of the day, she was still sad but she tought she had it under control for now.

Arriving at the place she showed up next to the couch and said answering her question "pondering on how life is meaningless, there's no point in doing anything and we'll all die alone"

Cleo gives a little shriek, jumping into the air and then twisting mid-air to land facing (and glaring( at Maria. "I told you NOT TO SNEAK UP ON PEOPLE!" she says then takes a deep breath and runs her hand through her blonde hair. "Ok, line up so I can assign which 'team' everyone will be playing today... remember, how you do in the practice determines where I place you in the lineup when we go up against Middleton."

Bee gets in line, with Cee waiting a little bit so that there's a person between her and Bee, so that the two of them will be on the same team. With a little counting and dividing by two, you can try to be on their team or on the other team.

Maria just nodded and went over to line up with the ts eam just looking to get this done as fast as possible not really motivated right then to do anything, she just put herself in the last place in the line, not caring in what team you end up in.

Houston briefly considers counting to be on the same team as Maria, but ultimately decides to just get in line without caring what team they get assigned to.

Miss Catillac seems to randomly start numbering off students, much to Bee and Cee's dismay. Despite Cee's frantic attempts, she and Bee get sent to different sides. Maria winds up on Cee's 'side', while Houston and Bee wind up sent to the other side of the net.

While this is going on, the school cheer leading squad is stretching and (in the case of Angel) watching judgementally.

Cee goes over to Maria as Miss Catillac finishes assigning sides for practice. "I want to thank you for your concern in gym." she says. "Even after Angel made me... you know. It's a shame about Mister Harkness and Chef Harkness."

Maria was actually shocked that Cee was showing her some gratitude that actually managed to get her out of depression at least a little, maybe she did something right after all "it's no big deal really, What I don't understand is why do you hang out with Angel she's just mean all the team, just use you to do your dirty work for her and doesn't even seem to care about you, what do you see in her?"Maria asked, "Also please don't remind me about Harkness" She added.

Cee sighs. "It's.... complicated." she pauses, choosing her words carefully. "Where Bee and I come from, we get... teased... a lot. Everyone there is expected the be strong on their own, but Bee and I have always relied on each other. Angel is the only one who accepted us as a pair. She may consider us something to be used, but it's still better then just being considered something to be broken apart. Also, Angel is powerful, and knowing someone powerful can be useful. For example, if you had a problem with 'Chef', I'm sure Angel could make sure he was dealt with."

Bee, Houston, and the other people on their side gather to decide which of them will be the first to serve the ball.

After hearing Cee's explanation Maria was pissed but not surprised, taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable that was a new low even for Angel, "I'm sorry, you must two must have struggle a lot by yourselves, but you know if you would want to we could be your friends and wouldn't need to rely on Angel anymore, what do you say?" Maria offered extending her hand for a handshake.

Cee looks puzzled at Maria's hand. "Why are you sticking out your arm like that?" she asks.

Maria was at a loss for words and then said incredulous "You're kidding right? you don't know what a handshake is?" she asked surprised "look is like a salute to greet someone or to agree to something, if you accept my offer you're suppose to give me your hand so we I can shake it and seal our agreement" Maria explained as well as she could in the spot without taking her hand away.

"So... if I have Angel do something to Chef Harkness, you'll be friends with me?" ask Cee, holding out her own hand.

Maria gave a long sigh, she was starting to see why she didn't have other friends apart from her sister and Angel she appeared to have no social skills "No I don't want you to hurt the chef or anyone else I don't want you to do anything, the only thing you need to do so I'll be your friend is be yourself with me"She explained hoping she would get it this time.
