So, let's say I name a character after a famous person who is related to what the character does, but instead of giving them the exact same first/last name, I tweak it a bit (e.g. Haldane -> Haldayn)

Does it still count as Named After Somebody Famous, or does it become just a Meaningful Name?

It's not supposed to be a No Celebrities Were Harmed version of that real-life person, is it?

Then it's Named After Somebody Famous + Writing Around Trademarks
