Oof Even though I liked Manabu more than Yuna, I was really hoping for Yuna to win there or at least draw. Lately she's feels more like a main heroine than Yuamu is.

Also Celeb Rose Fabulous Magician kinda hitting the uncanny valley with her blank expression and how it doesn't blink.

52-53: Timeskip, new designs. And obviously, a fake-out with the old designs because can't waste this opportunity. I really don't like everyone getting the same generic uniforms. Yuuhi's emo phase is also not getting to me. MIK's racism plot is still in a nervous "wait-and-see" state. Damamu has been consistently good though.

One thing I'm really grateful for is putting Yuuga out of the way at the first possible opportunity. Go Rush really knows how to make the old not overshadow the new.

54: God, Yuuna's loss felt so disrespectful. The build-up was immense, intense, and perfect. And then this build-up is undercut by what? An opponent that wasn't trying to win. Yuuna was already among the top 5 characters in the cast, but elevating her to top 2 immediately before killing her off was certainly an upsetting idea.

Also I guess confirmation that Yuuna is by default the Yuuou counterpart and now the revelation that the other siblings' counterparts are inside her head.

Yuna’s loss was to showcase how much of a threat the MIK is with their Maximum Monsters and with the reveal that anyone who lost would get turned into a card, Manabu would have to stick around to act as the mole. I’m sure we’ll get to see more of Yuna in action after this arc. Besides, she wasn’t elevated to being a main protagonist and you should put spoiler tags on for what happens.

Sure, tags on. I have no idea where you got the main protagonist part from though.

Also how long is the spoiler grace period in this thread? Because I'm 2 whole weeks late on this and I don't see commentary from anyone who is behind me.

That was a character preference comment. Yuuna jumped from being below Zwijo, Yuudias, Nyandestar, and Yuuhi to being only below Zwijo. I honestly never seen some say "top X character" in any context other than listing their favorites.

Kaizo makes the ultimate sacrifice, Yuudias gives Maximum Over-road a makeover, and Tremolo wins even when he loses.

Eh, knowing how this series works, that scroll will probably come in handy at some point down the road.

More than likely, but I don't see why he had to suddenly become an antagonistic dick beyond the writers throwing him under the bus to make Zwijo look good.

Took a while but episode 60 is up.

Everyone learns about Yuuga now, and....suddenly Cats!

And so the plot thickens. Yuga’s identity is finally revealed, Yuamu gets carded, Phaser seems to have a grudge against the Ohdo family, it’s implied that Phaser’s been using the people carded as materials to create more Maximum cards, and that for some reason, whoever ends up carded are turned into cats.

so I'm assuming that either Yudias ends up saving the day or the twins and Yuga end up taking Phaser's plan down from within

The plot point about how Nyandestar was turned into a cat when she escaped her home planet gets brought up....and our heroes are now in Yuuga's time!

That was quite the wild ride this episode took us on. We get some callbacks to SEVENS, including Manya doing Mimi’s fan dance (…and some implications that Bochi may have some connection To Mimi’s son if he felt comfortable in that field spell they were in), Yuga’s identity is finally outed as their descendant to the Ohdo twins, with Yuhi trying to demand Yuga show them respect, Stray Familiar gets some love this episode, Chupataro is still simping for Megg-chan, and the Ohdo trio somehow end up back in Yuga’s time. Next episode is gonna be so wicked.

Mostly just a lot of callbacks, and some final clarification on what happened after the finale of Sevens. Most of us guessed this already, but now they've outright said it.

I forgot that Luke made the Lukeman manga himself. Also, I never considered it, but Otes might be a future version of Yuuga. There's also still the mystery of how the Velgarians knew about Rush Duels, but it's likely Yuuga agreed to create them in order to prevent the war from destroying them.

We don't know what happened to Otes. Maybe he told the Velgarians about them.

Did some big catching up yesterday and intend to fully catch up tomorrow. Yugioh never fails to be excellent background noise for translation work. Anyways, every episode in this batch had something I loved, but in many cases, those were surrounded by parts I disliked. All in all, I don't think I'm liking this arc so far.

• 56: Good duel. Good characterization on both sides. Ranran playing the kuroko for Yuuhi was a reference I could go without but I appreciate the decision of not to let him lose because he was blind. Yuuhi was especially cool in his decision to pass the torch. Easily yesterday's best episode here.
• 57: Yuudias gets a Maximum and the arc does a Zexal-style cast trimming. Just a really good setup episode with EXCELLENT use of Damamu's personality for peak joy-horror dissonance.
• 58: Manabu's unfortunate Becoming the Mask moment after two years as an MIK mole. Nyandestar mentions he always had it in him (despite his backstory being about him being the kind kid with an unkind upbringing) but I want to be generous and chalk it up to the consequences of being trapped in a racist environment. Still. that was an unexpected low I'm genuinely not sure if Manabu can ever recover from.
• 59: A focus episode for Tremolo of the Racism Brothers. Excellent duel marked by very creative use of Maximums. The character part felt uncomfortably real, with Tremolo's self-sacrificial love for his family despite his unapologetic disdain for outsiders being very reminiscent of some people in my own family. And his statement that he can't let anyone learn Phaser's secret especially Phaser himself is quite intriguing and thankfully kills off my dumbest WMG for good. But resetting the Fisher Sky subplot progress back to zero is makes the episode quite detrimental for the overall arc.
• 60: Yuamu vs Phaser. Good duel. Abyss Poseidra is the best-looking Maximum Monster yet. But I don't feel like anything else happened besides the Duel. They're hammering in more that Maximums are carded people, but that already felt clear enough in Yuuhi's episode. Still, Yuudias gets the 3rd Oudou card he needs for his new Maximum, so progress.
