A forum herald is a designated person associated with a certain subforum. When tropers post in the subforum with a herald for the first time, they will get an automated custom PM greeting from them.
Most of the time our heralds are just there in case a nervous newbie knows at least one person in their new terrain, and can ask them any questions. With that being said, being a herald doesn't bring up too much additional activity - usually just a quick question or a "thanks!".
