Its more likely that Manta will try to kill Arthur's dad since Arthur killed his dad after all.

The whole genesis of their rivalry is sons avenging fathers after all.

[up]That that also mirrors how Arthur's dynamic with Orm is evolving rather than devolving speaks to it all the more.

First trailer and only a few months before it comes out. Definitely not how it works with most superhero movies when it comes to trailers.

Wow this is moving fast. Gotta step back while responses come through so as to not have so much at once to keep up with.

So bad Blue Beetle suffered for it.

[up]Yeah. To many people, guilty by association. Maybe both Fury of the Gods and Black Adam also suffered thanks to The Flash too. Again, I definitely liked The Flash, but even with the marketing, the controversy made it unsellable.

Blue Beetles Marketing was also hampered by the Strike, something that is also going to effect Aquaman, the man difference is that the latter is a sequel to a well liked film the former was a niche character not widely known outside comic circles.

If it got better marketing Blue Beetle may have done better.

Wonder if Ezra Miller is still going to get any work and protection after this mess.

[up]Signs point to no.

Yeah. The strikes are indeed major factors at this point. Also, I knew Blue Beetle because of Young Justice, so there you go.

Well Gunn has confirmed that nothing will be canon until Creature Commandos and Superman: Legacy. How will that affect Aquaman 2’s box office?

Specifically that they'll be keeping the actors for BB, Peacekeeper and Waller. BB's movie won't be canon, but his backstory will be the same by Broad Strokes.

Really if you cut out the Justice League in Peacemaker it can perfectly fit anywhere

And even then The Suicide Squad already did a broad strokes backstory to the previous Squad film and Birds of Prey with Harley being on the team with no mention of Cass from Bo P.

He's also stated that if Gal wants to return as Wonder Woman she can, so far the only two confirmed non-returning actors are Ben and Henry. Jason is still up in the air but I think we'll get a re-cast there with the Lobo rumors

I genuinely do not know if Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Shazam, or Green Lantern can offer up scenes as powerful as these three.

Flash came close. Anybody whose lost their mother recently especially - this scene cuts like a knife.

I feel like Kal, Bruce, Diana, and Flash have a uniqie element of tragedy that makes these scenes work.

I can't see a Hawkman, Spectre, Lantern, or Cyborg film hitting as hard.

Martian Manhunter maybe. I can just see him having a moment to reflect on his near extinct people.

Aquaman's life in the comics was essentially a Greek tragedy for a while, from the late 70s to the mid 2000s before things finally started to get better.

Man I still love that Man of Steel scene. It's my favorite from the film and feels more optimistic than the rest of it.

[up][up]I mean it had some good emotional moments, especially when Arthur found his mom.

You are underestimating those other characters abilities to have emotional moments.

Like Hawkman's entire reincarnation romance with Hawkwoman or Cyborg's problems with his cybernetics and tense relationship with his dad make prime material for tearjerker moments.

[up][up][up] Kind of—the first Aquaman film was a lot of different comic stories and genres in the same film, so we had a romance with Aquaman's parents falling in love, Atlantean and surface-world political games with Orm and his quest for the throne, horror with the Trench, family drama with Arthur's Missing Mom and a half-brother who hates him, a road trip plot to find the macguffin with Aquaman and Mera, and—this is the part that reads most like a classic tragedy to me and is something the next film seems to follow up on—a Tragic Mistake where Aquaman has a clear chance to save David Kane's father, Jesse Kane, and chooses Murder by Inaction to leave both of the pirates to the mercy of the sea. This leads David to become his Arch-Enemy Black Manta, swear revenge, and dedicate his life to killing him—and, as Aquaman later notes, he could have stopped it by saving them.

The second film is all about Manta's quest for revenge and his plan to kill Arthur's friends and family, so we'll see what happens.

This is very true especially with regards to Cyborg. Just look at how much tearjerker moments the Snyder cut of all things milked out of Cyborg and his struggles.

That is something I will always appreciate in a film, especially a big budget blockbuster. Letting the story slow down and feel majestic and emotional rather than merely "cool."

I would be pleasantly surprised to see it. I've always felt like the Trinity suck up the valuable, majestic, iconic ideas from the rest of the League. Like what do Aquaman, Green Lantern, or Blue Beetle stand for in a film that Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman don't.

The only live-action depiction of Hawkman and Hawkwoman was Legends of Tomorrow and I think Black Adam. YMMV on that. I haven't seen the Snyder Cut so I'll assume he got some Tear Jerker moments, but in the original cut I can't say any of his scenes really stood out.

I say this more out of pity for Green Lantern than anything because I always wondered why that movie failed. It always seemed like if you ask what Superman is about, you can point to him flying for the first time, or if you ask what Batman or Diana are about, you can point to those scenes. But if someone asked me what Green Lantern is about, I wouldn't really know what to say.

  • Batman is a reminder that personal tragedy doesn't have to define or ruin you.
  • Superman is a reminder that you can always show humility and respect.
  • Wonder Woman is a reminder to always treat others with empathy and kindness.
  • Arguably, Flash is a reminder to live in the moment (his character typically seems to be used to show the dangers of trying to fix/control/relive events)

Green Lantern is...

Cyborg is...

Aquaman is...

I know that's terribly reductive, but what I'm saying is - what sort of reminder/moral/allegorical message would make the other Leaguers stand out. Cause I think that's why Superman/Wonder Woman/Batman have all been better received.
