I've seen Alas, Poor Villain used a lot as an Audience Reaction meaning "The audience feels sorry for the villain who just died".

Laconic page states "The villain's death or downfall is painted in a sympathetic light."

Playing With page has an In-Universe description: "A hero mourns over a villain's death."

Since this is a main page trope, I'd keep the definition listed on the Playing With page and move all examples of "the audience feels sorry for the villain" to TearJerker pages or other YMMV tropes.

Alternatively, I'd just move the trope to the YMMV namespace.

As per TRS rules (see the pinned threads), please perform a wick check to demonstrate that the trope is being misused or is causing confusion.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
