There's going to be a lot of overlap between different categories of visual artists, but I would not be against more indexes.
Comic Book Creators would be a sub-index of Illustrators, which is a sub-index of Artists, then?

There'll doubtlessly be creator pages that fit into more than one category, yes, but I honestly don't think it'll lead to index bloat (which annoys me to no end).
Comics Artists would probably be a sub-category of illustrators if they got their own page and not just included as a part of Comic Book Creators as they are now. But as they're certainly numerous enough, I think it's a justified move.
Artists is a bit of a messy category right now. As is Creators now that I look at it. Yikes.

I've created TLP entries for all the categories listed above. Excepting Fanfic Writers and Painters, the others could use hats.
Due to the heavy overlap between Comics writers and artists, I've decided to forgo creating a separate index for comics artists; instead, I will add those on the Artists page to Comic Book Creators, where they are currently listed. If anyone wants to do a split in the future, they are welcome to do so.
Once the TLP indices are launched, I'll work on organizing the artists on the page that don't fit into one of the more-populated categories, before moving on to cleaning up and re-organizing the Creators main page index.

I've finished the cleanup for Artists.
- Added Comics Artists from to Comic Book Creators due to heavy overlap and the fact that most of them are already listed them. If anyone wants to do a split between writers/artists/creators in the future they're welcome to do so, but I don't see it as productive at the moment.
- Created new indices, moved artists to appropriate indices.
- Added descriptions to the visual artists in the misc category that have significant work outside any of the listed categories.
Will be working on Creators index next.

There are a handful of Artists I'd like to make pages for. Upon checking the index, it's a bit of a grab-bag of everything from painters to comic book artists and illustrators to animators. Additionally, there are quite a few stubs (I've already sent a couple to the chopping block), including artists who exclusively do Rule 34 and might be against site rules.
Right now, I would definitely propose separate sub-indexes for painters and illustrators, which are fairly large categories. There could also probably be one for comics artists, but several of those are already listed under Comic Book Creators. Should they be folded into that category (which also includes comics writers)? I'm inclined to think so, as there is already significant crossover; maybe a soft split would be reasonable for this page. We already have an Animators index, so there's no need to create a new one there.
Ultimately, the Artists index can be used for those that don't fit in any of the larger artist creator subcategories.
Thoughts? I think I'll go ahead and propose an index for Painters in TLP, then eventually Illustrators.
