The producer of Castlevania is working on an adaptation of the Devil May Cry games for Netflix.

No specific details about the series have been announced yet, but Shankar told IGN he "acquired [the Devil May Cry] rights [himself] so the jabronis in Hollywood don't f*** this one up too." He also said the series will, along with Castlevania, be a part of what is team is referring to as "the bootleg multiverse." Shortly after the news broke, Shankar shared a photo of himself on Twitter dressed like Devil May Cry Protagonist Dante.

We'll take his word of it. They better not mess this up.

And they must remember, if they are going completely over the top, they are doing their jobs right.

They already nailed the fight-scenes in Castlevania so hopefully we can expect some gorey goodness here too.

Hate to burst some bubbles, but Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied their involvement in Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry.

Correction, 4:58 p.m. Eastern: The original version of this story said that the Devil May Cry series was coming to Netflix. In fact, it has not yet been announced what service or network will carry the show.

That said, it would only be fair to be on Netflix, but again, no word on whether Adi Shankar’s DMC series will actually appear on Netflix.

Just saying.

That said, given Castlevania's success, I would not be surprised if he got Auteur License for producing animated content for Netflix.

I wonder if they'd use this series to expand more on Eva and Sparda's characters.

So, odd that the show will have philosophical discussions acted out like an opera?

Funny thing Adi Shankar in a recent interview compared Vergil to Thanos. tongue

I guess the comparison lies in how they are pitiable somewhat affable antagonists desperate for ultimate power due to the events of a tragic backstory.

Incidentally, I wonder if we'll eventually see Bayonetta in this so-called "Bootleg Multiverse" so we can finally get that DMC/Bayo crossover we almost got in Project X Zone 2?

Actually, anyone hoping we get any clarity on this "Bootleg Multiverse" at some point? I can only handle so much speculation
