I think it's a supertrope, and you're supposed to use one of the more specific subtropes instead.

Yeah, that's about right. A while back I think there was a reorganisation among those tropes.
The exceptions for when to add examples to a supertrope are either when the example doesn't quite fit any of the subtropes, or sometimes when it fits several at once or jumps between them. In this case I don't think any example would apply for any of those exceptions.
