The little blip of a message was enough to get Samuel's attention, and he cast his glance down at the little tablet that clung onto his arm, like a comfort blanket.
"Huh." He mused quietly, smiling as he opened the link. "That was fast. No harm in a little fun on the side, right?"
Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

As soon as Samuels finger touched the screen of his tablet a bright blue light shot out of the screen, and with out warning enveloped him.
Within seconds Samuel had disappeared leaving nothing but his tablet behind, for which, on its screen, read "Welcome to the digital world".
Samuel now finds him self in an open field surrounded by dense forest, and strange jungle plants.

There was a pause. There was silence. Slowly, the eyes trailed over his new surroundings. His body was frozen in place, his eyes slowly, slowly closing before opening again. He spun in a small circle, his eyes scanning every available spot before him.
He looked to the right. He looked to the left.
"Um...what?"

A pinging noise made the man look up at his computer screen.
"Another one eh" he said to himself, "hmmm, a little young but..."
The man hesitated for a moment, but resolved to send the invite.
"Um hello" a meek voice spoke up to Samuel, "down here."
In front of Samuel stood a rather large, green worm, with pink nails jutting from its multiple legs.
"Salutations" sung the worm, "I'm Wormmon."

Shannon's House
Shannon stretched and put her finished homework into a binder, which she then she put inside her new backpack her dad had made for her.
It was a Friday evening, which meant she could go and visit her friends. She packed her old leather knapsack with a beat-up tin canteen, a good variety of sandwiches, and a flashlight for lighting the way to her destination.
She had only just finished writing a note to her parents when she got a ping on her computer. What was the harm in checking? It would only take a few moments...

Just as with Samuel, the moment Shannon clicked on the link, a blue light shot out of her computer screen and engulfed the room. Shannon was gone.
Once the light cleared from her eyes Shannon found her self on the same hill as wormmon and Samuel.

Shannon yelped as she landed.
"Uh—what? Where am I? How'd I get here?" she asked.

"Ah..." He paused for a moment, giving the area one more quick scan over before he cleared his throat. "Right then, I must have gone insane. Ah well, time to lean into the skid." He turned his attention to the little green worm before him that just started speaking, and he held up a hand in greeting.
"Greetings, little one. My name is Samuel."

Matt Kincaid
Matt got the message a little while later because he had been a bit busy - he and his dad had been working out together. Most people, when they saw the two, could immediately say that it looked like the Kincaids finally had their athletic son.
Matt wasn't so sure.
He went to his locker to retrieve his stuff, sore and feeling accomplished at least in that he hadn't lagged too far behind his dad, but then saw his little device seemed to be beeping.
He promptly picked it up and gave a look at the message and opened the link.

Just as with the others, the moment Matts finger touched the link, a bright blue light shot out from his phone and enveloped the locker room. With in seconds of it appearing, the light disappeared, and along with it so did Matt.
"Well" Wormmon said, politely shaking Samuels hand with his own clawed stub of a foot "it's a pleasure to meat you Thomas." He then noticed the little girl not to far from them, and, not even taking the time to realize that he had gotten Samuels name wrong, rushed over to her. "Oh, hello young one, I am the great wormmon. It is a pleasure to- OH MY GOD!" Before the large bug had time to tell either of them what was going on, he rushed up the hill and fired a green web from his mouth, catching Matt who had accidently been teleported into the sky.

Matt had a few words to say about what had just happened - well, after he got done screaming. When the light enveloped him, he mostly just inarticulately screamed as the light dropped him from a great height...and then he was suddenly just resting in a...a web of some sort...
Where...where was he?
"Whattheheckwhattheheckwhattheheck—-"
He breathed harshly, trying to get a hold of himself. "Where..." He breathed one more time, "Where am I...? What just happened?"

Wormmon held up a claw, telling them to give him a moment. As if he were a cat with a hair ball, the bug hacked and coughed attempting to get the last of the webbing out of his throat.
With one last cough, a grotesque noise escaped the digimons body as he spit out a large, knotted, ball of green web.
"Hallelujah" Wormmon gasped out, "Now... as for... where you are... oh god I hate using that attack..." After a few more seconds of the bug trying to regain its breath, it yelled out "WELCOME TO THE DIGITAL WORLD!"
He was unaware that he had not explained anything to the three.

Shannon made a couple of placating gestures towards the new guy.
"That doesn't explain anything, Wormmon."
"This is the Digital World, which is what this place is. I got sucked in by a computer screen, that's how I got here..."
"The only question I have left is 'Why am I here?'"

A harsh silence settled over Wormmon as he came to this realization.
"Oh right" he said, blushing with embarrassment "well you see, you where all summoned here by my boss for a very important reason. You are needed to save the-"
Before the worm could finish explaining, again, a large explosion erupted in the forest, and blue fire shot right over wormmons head.
Emerging from the trees was a large a yellow monster, with a leather mask covering one eye. The tip of its tail appeared to be made of metal, and its large arms bend the trees as though they were twigs.
"People..." the monster said, its voice not hiding its lack of intelligent "falling... sky... opening... kings dyeing... me... hungry ...eat something ...mmm ...me see ...dinner."
"Well" Wormmon said, "time to run kids."
And with that, the worm began booking it towards the forest as fast as his little legs could... he was not very fast.

"Save who? Save what? Tell us!"

"Less talky, more runny" Wormmon said, cowering in Shannons arm "he's gonna fry me like a burrito!"
"That sounds delicious" the monster screamed, running after everyone.
The man, now holding a chees burger and soda, sits back down at his computer.
"Alright, lets see how..." he looks up and sighs as the situation before him unfolds, "of course."
Holding his burger in his mouth, the man tacks a few keys on his keyboard and sent something to the three humans.
DIGIMON SENT
A pinging noise comes from the three humans pockets.

"Okay, running now!"
Shannon ran some more, and checked her pocket for the source of the strange pinging noise.

"Ah, yes, well that's going to haunt my nightmares for quite some time, won't it!" Samuel chuckled a little bit, shaking his head and having completely given up on the idea of having any kind of sane rational for this...well, whatever the HELL any of this was.
Run? Sounded like fun! So, spinning on his heel, he made a mad dash in the OPPOSITE direction of whatever the hell THIS new nightmare was!
And then the pinging started. And he reached down into his pocket, curious as to where this delusion was going next!

Matt manages to get down from the net, and before the monsters showed up, he started with the typical jock bluster, "Okay, you uh...you nerdos have one shot to explain this to me or...or I'll...this..."
Then a horrific yellow monstrosity, looking somewhat like a dinosaur or a dragon or something turned up.
Matt promptly tried to beat his best sprint rate, again screaming in a way that robbed the young jock of his dignity. What the fuck!? What the actual, everliving fuck!? I get dropped off in a strange...jungle!? And now there's a giant monster!? AND my fucking phone is ringing?? Now!?
He suddenly bursted ahead of who he initially called "nerdos", tears flying from the young athlete's face. "Why is this h-h-happening!?"

In their pockets, the three find a rectangular item, about the shape and size of a track phone. Oddly enough, each one was glowing yellow, light green, and dark red respectively.
It was around then that the glowing phones the three held exploded in dazzling light. The light then began to take shape and, standing before the three were three odd creatures. A large bee, a black bird wearing a strange vest, and a black dinosaur; each of these creatures seemed just as confused as the three people.
"Stop running from me!" the monster screamed, before slamming its large hands into the hill, "HYPER HEAT!!!"
Suddenly, a beam of blue fire shot from the monsters mouth and was flying straight towards the group.

Shannon dived to the side, shielding Wormmon with an arm.
She covered her eyes and opened them to find three more strange creatures.
The black bird seemed to react first, running up to the monster chasing them.
"Shadow Screen!" it shouted...

Suddenly, the area around the monster grows dark and the monsters eye glazes over.
"What, why so many" the monster stuttered out, "me eat you, ME EAT YOU ALL!!"
The confused monster slams its metal tail into the ground, attacking the enemies which are not there.
"Oh thank god" Wormmon sighed,"he's confused. Now we can-" suddenly, large rocks from the monsters confused rampage, shoot at the group, tearing the trees behind them to shreds. "Run, run until we our legs bleed!"

Shannon heeded Wormmon, and ran away some more.
The black bird also followed them, looking back periodically.

The man examined the surveys he had so far, contemplating each word as if they were the answers to the universes questions.
"Only two" his assistant asked, "is that enough?"
"I'm sure that there will be more" the man responded, "but for now, we'll start the plan with these two. I'm sending them the invite now, go meet them okay."
"What!" the assistant basically screamed, "Y-you want me to go!?"
"Either you or me... and I have to man the computers."
"...Lazy."
The assistant then walked off, their feet clacking against the floor as usual. The man rolled his eyes at his assistant before turning back to the computer.
He pressed a few keys, sent out his invite message and waited.
