I have an idea for (I hope) an original Trapped In Another World story. I want to avoid the typical cliches related to the genre, especially the ones made by the Japanese media.

The premise: Modern Earth is raided by the inhabitants of the fantasy world called Azira. Though portals appearing on every continent, fantastic races like Elves, Orcs or Dwarfs, mythical beings like Griffons or Dragons and knights clad in shining armors suddenly appeared one day. They searched for people marked by their many gods. Once they did, they kidnapped them to their world before the portals closed. Those chosen by the gods were to become their champions and heroes to the races they were taken by. This event happened 3 times. First time occurred in 2017, the second in 2018 and the third in 2019. The main heroes would be from the third raid.
Those chosen by the gods would receive various gifts from them in order to fulfill their bidding. A mastery of weapons, strong magics or rare talents like taming wild dragons or binding spirits and elementals to their will. Some are even granted an opportunity to be turned into members of many fantastic races inhabiting Azira. All of The Chosen Many share however one gift - an ability to communicate in every language in Azira, including ancient and forgotten ones. All Chosen heroes are issued a mission from a god that marked them. If they wish to return home, they must fulfill their mission.
The main heroes, a Five Man Band, were chosen by Ranal, god of Chaos and Freedom. He gave them a mission to find his original chosen from the first raid and help him fulfill his original objective. To find his original chosen, they must seek out the first Bad Bad of the story - Evil Sorcerer named Kane, who wages war against human kingdom of Firana...

This story will differ from your typical Trapped In Another Story. Unlike most stories from this genre, heroes are not ridiculously overpowered. True, they are gifted by gods to be powerful, that still doesn\'t make them invincible. Many of those chosen heroes ended up getting killed during their quests, forcing gods to seek for their replacements. The Hero and the rest of Five Man Band need to cooperate in order to not only fulfill their mission to return home, but also survive. But, here\'s a problem - they don\'t like each other. Their fellowship runs on Enemy Mine. Whenever they become True Companions or secretly plot to kill one another is uncertain.

I take inspiration from Warhammer Fantasy when deciding elements of magic. The list is long: Fire, Water (Ice spells are part of Water element), Earth, Life (Green Thumb), Light, Dark, Wind, Electric, Death, Beast, Celestial, Metal and Arcane(Expy to Warhammer\'s High Magic). Almost every inhabitant of Azira is born with an affinity towards at least one or two elements of magic. Those more gifted might be born with an affinity towards 3 elements. There is a chance for someone to gain an affinity towards a certain element if they can absorb a raw magic, that flows though Azira. But, it\'s very dangerous. If the magic overwhelms you, you either die a painful and horrible death, become an insane Elemental Spirit or turn into a monster.
The world of Azira is inhabited by many fantastic races and beasts. Major races include Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarfs, Beastmen, Demons and Goblins.
  • Humans are the most common races in Azira. Of all races, they have access to all elements of magic. But, they can\'t reach the level of mastery with magic like Elves or Demons. Only few of them can match the greatest sorcerers from other races. Humans have the shortest lifespan. The major Human nations in the story include Kingdom of Firana and Northern Princes.
  • Orcs in Azira are of \"revisionist\" type. They live in clans scattered across Azira. They are usually a peaceful race, but they will not hesitate to fight back when necessary. They have a strong sense of honor. Orcs are considered to be creators of shamanism in Azira. They usually have affinity towards Beast, Earth and Fire elements. The major Orc clans include Red Rock and Blue Fang clans.
  • Elves in Azira are divided into High, Wood and Dark Elves. Elves were originally created as keepers of Golden Apples, which prolonged life after consuming them. As a result, they have the longest lifespan of all races. After the War of Twilight (a catastrophic war against Demonkind , which nearly led to the destruction of Azira), Elven people were divided. During the war, many Elves abandoned the god of Light during the war in favor of goddess of Darkness and god of Nature. Those Elves still faithful to the god of Light, today known as High Elves, exiled their brethren out of their home continent of Albion. The followers of the goddess of Darkness, now known as the Dark Elves, took refuge at Dragon Isles. The followers of god of Nature, now known as Wood Elves, sought out sources of raw Life Magic. Once they did, they planted seeds blessed by their god, from which mighty forests grew.
High Elves have affinity towards Light and Water magic. Dark Elves have affinity towards Dark and Fire magic. Wood Elves have affinity towards Life and Beast magic.
Unlike other media, Dark Elves in the story are not Chaotic Evil. They\'re more like True Neutral. Major Elven factions include: Alliron (High Elves), Dark Elf Empire and Kingdom of the Wild Hunt (Wood Elves).
  • Dwarfs, like in most media are the greatest blacksmiths in Azira. Like Warhammer Dwarfs, they have a habit of holding grudges, but not to irrational levels like them. They\'re rather cross with all Elves, as Dwarfs were also created as guardians of Golden Apples, but were exiled by pointy-eared bastards. They have a friendly relationship with Goblins and often cooperate. Dwarfs build their kingdoms in the mountains, especially those rich with metals. They have affinity towards Metal, Earth and Fire magic. The major Dwarfen faction in the story is mountain kingdom of Karkazil.
  • Beastmen are an interesting case. They were at the beginning normal humans and Elves. They became Beastmen after being exposed to raw Beast magic flowing through Azira. Any Human or Elf exposed to raw Beast magic might become Beastmen if they survive. Beastmen generally live in nomadic tribes, living in accordance to nature. There are individuals, who decide to settle down with other races, mostly Humans and Wood Elves. Beastmen can appear as either Petting Zoo People or Little Bit Beastly. More beastly Beastmen are stronger physically, while those less beastly are more adept with magic. There are many variations of Beastmen - Canine, Feline, Rodent, Reptilian, Avian, Aquatic and Draconic. Draconic are considered to be the strongest of all Beastmen.
  • Demons are another case. They were created by a mad god Izzrit to bring chaos and destruction across the universe. They had access to the corrupted version of all elements of magic. But, during the War of Twilight, a group of demons rebelled against Izzrit and helped races of Azira kill the mad god! These demons were purged of their corruption and became the Rezani. Rezani have access to all elements of magic, this time in their pure form. Although small in numbers, Rezani are a force to be reckoned with. Rezani are both feared and respected by other races.
  • Goblins were created during War of Twilight as countermeasure against Demonkind. Although small and not physically strong like Orcs or Dwarfs, they make up for it with their resistances to corrupted magic, various poisons and great ingenuity. Aside from Dwarfs, Goblins are the greatest engineers and inventors of Azira. They have also a knack for trading, which makes them great merchants. They usually have affinity towards Metal, Fire and Celestial magic.

There are many gods in the world of Azira. Each major god is a patron of one element of magic. Lesser gods, who are daughters and sons of major gods, are patrons of trades like blacksmiths or messengers; or concepts like Freedom or Order. Like in our world, people pray to gods and give them offerings in order to gain their favor. The chosen heroes are considered to be the greatest gift from gods.

I wanted to make this story into a potential material for manga, roleplay or even a videogame!

This thread fits into Writer\'s Block forum, or should I move it to World Building?

I will become a great writer one day! Hopefully...
