I think for the sake of having an interesting DLC discussion, let's pretend that Spirits doesn't deconfirm characters, otherwise it'll be nothing but 3rd parties.

DO we have any reason to believe that Spirits deconfirm DLC?

Oh, hey! That screencap also had the Mage Trio from Star Allies in it. I figured the most we'd get from that game was a song or two so seeing that they're adding spirits from that game is a nice surprise.

I hope that the first character announced for DLC is first party, maybe to prove any of the active leakers wrong

Currently, rumors are going that Square is the next reveal.

I can't believe how stingy Square is being. 2 songs, so far no spirits, no english Cloud VA, no A Ts, probably no boss (Cloud will probably fight Shadow Link or something), no items. Hell, its amazing we even got Cloud.

How could Square be approached by developers involved in one of the biggest games of the year, asking to have one of their characters playable who is from the time when they split from Nintendo to Sony and Square replies 'Hmmmm.....we'll get back to you maybe. We have to think about it.'

Meanwhile, Konamii is all 'Shut up and take my content!'

Son Goku is just the Japanese name of Sun Wukong from Journey to the West

He has countless iterations and expies across all sorts of media because he's the east Asian equivalent to a character like Paul Bunyan or Rip Van Winkle.

The most commonly accepted belief is that Square Enix doesn't Smash to step on the toes of their shitshow of a mascot fighter (and this is from someone who enjoyed the PSP Dissidia games).

With Sega hahaving the Sega Superstars series and Capcom having the Vs. series and are still alright with having their stuff in Smash, it just makes Square look very petty.

I'm increasingly doubting that the second square enix character is even happening.

With how little content they gave to SSBU. The same exact shit as the last game and in the former there were DLC, i don't think they might get another fighter.

I want to bet that Square was the most difficult part of developing SSBU
