X-23 (Rooftop)-Not that easily satisfied

X-23 frowned at the woman as she did not seem to reguard her as a serious threat. She was being brushed off by this person, and minor tinges of annoyance were seeping their way through the heavy emotional supression. She stepped out of her combat stance into a more netural pose, but did not yet put away her claws.

"And I am supposed to just accept this and work with you? I know nothing about you, just as you know nothing about me. If you expect me to work with you, then tell me, and give me a straight answer. Who....and what, are you? Are you the one who brought us to this world?"

"I'm the Doctor," the Doctor explained hurriedly. "I'm a Time Lord from Gallifrey and I have no idea of what's going on whatsoever, nice to meet you! I'd shake your hand but you have claws."

The last few statements was punctuated with a grin.

"No, I'm not the one who brought you all here, it was a strange bracelet. Thing broke my TARDIS too, rude thing! Everything else seems in order, though."

"Now it's your turn, yes? Who are you, what are you, and would you like a Jelly Baby?" she asked again. "If you don't want one, you can just say no."

X-23 (Rooftop)-Was never told not to take candy from strangers

"I am a clone, created and trained in a lab, the location of which has not been disclosed to me. I do not have a name, you may call me by my designation, X-23.

Then she looked at the held out bag with a raised eyebrow.

"And what, exactly, is a Jelly Baby?"

"It's a sweet. Go on, try one," the Doctor offered the rolled-up bag to X-23.

Outside the Green Goblin Inn

Not normal? What the hell was this girl's damage? It was like Rogue all over again. The last thing she needed was some high school girl trying to figure out - let alone outing her in the middle of a goddamned street while, presumably, some dogged cop was still... well... dogging her.

"DAMN IT!" she shouted at Kara. She was angry now, and needed a healthy outlet for said anger.

So, she started walking forwards towards Gord-Son so she could punch her in the mouth.

Yes, definitely weird. And Mari did not like weird. Weird meant that giant dragons with purple pants and clones and secret wars and such were right around the corner and would stain one's clothing that she only had on loan. She always downvoted weird.

She got up from the policeman's office and started walking out towards the lobby, drawn in almost against her will by the noises and scents she was picking up. Every city as a smell, and if you live in it long enough it becomes part of YOUR smell. Some of these folks did not smell like here. So they must be from elsewhere, the same as the pale girl and Jennifer.

Cait couldn't help but notice the way Mari was behaving. "Are you alright? You seem a bit tense."

She adjusted the collar of her jacket, and turned to face Jennifer. "We can head out whenever you're ready."

Rooftop Rambling

"I'm also a clone of someone as well, though I do try to differentiate myself from my genetic donor at least. Be my own person if you will. Name's Psyren." Deciding to compromise if only since the Doctor looks like the sort of hypocritical person that would badger you until you gave up the mysterious act and gave some sort of concrete answer while withholding their info, the ninja introduced herself in the same vein.

Though the fact that they were something called a 'Time Lord' made the sneaky-deaky lady a bit suspicious considering that seemed to be the sort of grandiose name that bigwig galactic level authorities tended to use. Like the Watcher or Galactus.

Now a bit more antsy due to the fact that meeting such people tended to result in very troublesome events, the mutant wondered if she should cut her losses here and run away without looking back lest she get brought into wacky hijinks far above her level of resistance. And promptly squashed that thought since she knew that events had already gotten rolling to the point that you can't opt now even if you wanted to. So much experiences there.

"If your... TARDIS was it? If that device of yours was fixed, would it be possible to help drop us off at our own native realities?" Seeing as she was already in the thick of things, Psyren relented and decided to at least probe for potential benefits to being in this inescapable event.

X-23 (Rooftop)-Introduced to candy

Warily, X-23 took one of the offered candies, staring at it for a moment and judging the odds of it being poisoned or drugged. She swiftly concluded that the woman likely would not need to resort to such methods if she wished to do harm, and besides that, she was immune to most drugs or poisons due to her healing factor. So she ate it. Chewed on it for a moment, face unreadable as she swallowed it.

"....Where would I go to procure more of these?"

Streets

Chief Barbara Gord-son was a little out of breath from her hot pursuit, and was privately grateful when the fleeing perp came back the other direction. "Ah...finally ready to b-" POW! Gord-son reeled from the knock to the kisser, but reflexes from training kicked in and she pulled her gun on Laura, aiming it steady as she could in spite of her swimming vision and bleeding lip. Behind her, the other couple of officers came up, ready to cuff the woman.

"Let me get you the copy of the suspects list." Stacy reached under his desk and pulled out a couple sheets. "I'll mark off the names my boys are already working on."

The Doctor chuckled.

"You can't blame me for liking these, now can you? They're good. You can get them at most convenience stores."

"Make sure the package says 'Jelly Babies' before you buy them, though. Not 'Gummy Bears.' It's an easy mistake to make."

Superman was in charge of the city and his identity was known? If previous experiences didn't convince her she was in a different universe, that would do it. It was interesting information though and Jennifer decided to file it away for later. She nodded at Cait and Officer Stacy. "Is there any techno-logistics expert in particular you'd recommend we check out before we head over?"

Booster's doubts about The Doctor's identity vanished when she entered her TARDIS and reemerged from it.

But more importantly, he had confirmed it was indeed a Time Machine. His best ticket out of Loserpolis.

Unfortunately, it was currently apparently broken. Dang!

"Skeets, can you help repair it?"

"Unlikely. Time Lord technology vastly exceeds anything we have in the 25th Century" the robot responded from his suitcase.

He noticed the others looking at him. "What? Its a robot, OK? At least we all can hear it" he said while looking at the 'Doctor' suspiciously.

"Anyways. Let me introduce myself. I'm Booster Gold, Superhero Extraordinaire- from the future!!" (flashes grin) "You people are not from around here either are you? I have a feeling we can help each other. But first, there is something I must do. Something in this city has been eating children. And I will not leave, until it is found and destroyed! Are you with me?"

[Note that Booster is currently hiding his costume under his clothes, so they only have his word- and supersenses- that he's being honest.]

The Doctor made a "pffffft" sound.

"While I do not doubt your credentials, the pomposity of your introduction implies that you only do superheroics for the fame and the term 'extraordinaire' is...questionable," she said sternly.

"You saying that the children have been eaten, but what hungry beast would leave bodies behind? Surely it would leave almost no trace of the victims, leaving their fates uncertain? But I hear of confirmed deaths. That means the killer is most likely very depraved...still leaving room for a monster of some kind. Retribution must be swift," the Doctor seemed like she was musing to herself rather than talking to Booster at that point.

Booster stared at 'The Doctor' as if she were a brat, but refrained from saying so. For the moment.

"Well? Do you have any clues?" he asked her.

"Booster, I believe I might have found something" Skeets said.

"Eh? What is it?"

"I have been monitoring the primitive radio channels of this city, and I found mentions of the orbiting city, which they call Haven. Apparently it once belonged to a mentally unstable woman who engaged in genetic engineering- including the creation of human-animal hybrids."

"Hybrids- did that include carnivores!?"

"Indeed."

"Aha! That must be it! Well I had plans of visiting that place anyway. Anyone else coming?"

"Well, I suppose I might, later, but I have some thinking to do first. Now if you'll excuse me for a second..."

The Doctor leaned against a wall, mumbling to herself, patting and stroking the briefcase she was carrying periodically.

Agent War Machine - Still In The Air; Skies Above Metropolis

Rhodey had several problems to deal with. Problem number one was the whole "Flying above a strange city" thing. He needed intel on where he was, and why he was here.

The question was, where would he get it?

Option One: Down on the street. He could find a newspaper, ask a local, maybe even find a helpful police officer.

Problem Number Two: He was wearing an alien war machine well beyond the technological capabilities of the apparent time period. There'd probably be screaming, running, and police shooting at him.

Option Number Two: The literal flying saucer. While it might contain aliens, aliens might be the exact thing he needed right now. And if they were hostile, he had the firepower to deal with that.

So with a tip of his balance and a increase in repulsor output, Rhodey began flying toward the orbiting flying saucer. He was aiming to find a docking port or shuttle bay, as while he probably could go right through the hull, it wouldn't make the best impression.

If we enter through the hull, we establish dominance immediately. They will cooperate under the threat of our firepower.

Or we could negotiate, like normal people.

We are beyond normal people.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!

Present

The Doctor frowned as she remembered the conversation with Booster.

"Someone told me that the floating structure manufactures hybrids. Some may even be dangerous. Let's go check it out," she said to Psyren and X-23.

"No one's coming? Fine, I'll do it by myself" Booster said, secretly thinking more glory for me.

He then proceeded to take his clothes off, revealing the gold-and-blue skintight costume beneath. He folded the clothing very nicely, then he opened his suitcase, and Skeets the robot flew out. Then Booster placed the clothes inside the case, closed it, and said:

"Carry it, Skeets!"

Without complaint, the tiny robot projected a tractor beam and the suitcase floated in the air behind it.

"Adieu" he waved, and activated his flight ring, taking off silently but trying to look as impressive as Superman.

And thus he and Skeets headed towards the flying city.

Dei, To The Skies

Dei smiled at Lara, glad to see his words had a positive impact on the Kryptonian. It seemed, however, that he had spent a bit too much time lazing around. Booster had already set out to the floating city of Haven in a search that would hopefully bring them closer to the killer.

"Ah, yes, I believe we should go investigate!" Dei said as he hastily transformed into his dragon form. His body quickly shifted from that of a normal man to a giant green dragon. He flew after Booster, a bit too absentminded at the moment to consider how weird this sight would be to onlookers.

"Booster! I detect two flying forms in the area, coming our way!" the oval robot said.

"Huh? What?"

"One is a man wearing what appears to be a model of Iron Man's armor. The other is a creature several times human size, of reptilian structure and winged. Although its wings should not possibly be able to lift it, it defies the laws of physics-"

"A reptile!? " Booster gasped, and turned around, to see Dei approaching him, but of course he didn't recognize him in his Jade Dragon form.

"A dragon!? " he gasped even louder, and turned around to face it. No sooner did he spot Dei than he flew at him, fists exntended: "EAT VIBRO-BLASTS!!"

"Booster, wait!"

But it was too late.

ZAAAAAAP!!

[[Note: Booster's blasts are probably not going to do more than annoy a dragon :P ]]

Dei, A Misunderstanding [The Sky]

Dei was smacked on the snout by Booster's vibroblast, and he let out a rather undignified "oof!" in response.

"Stop! It's me, Dei. This, well, this is my power. I suppose in hindsight, I should've mentioned in advance that I can turn into a dragon."

"Whoa, really? Err, sorry" Booster said awkwardly.

[[Note: Conversely, Brainiac's force field was made to resist Superman's powers, so at best Dei can just knock Booster around.]]

"So I guess you're accompanying me to this Haven place."

"Booster, I have identified the other flying figure from my historical records as War Machine."

"Oh yeah, Stark's best buddy! Him I wanna meet. I bet we have a lot in common."

"That is doubtful."

Streets Outside the Green Goblin Inn

Laura grunted angrily, then sighed.

"Really?" she groaned, watching the officer pull up her gun, and the other officers start moving.

"Get the fuck out of here, kid!" she shouted at Kara. "Before these trigger-happy assholes hit you in the crossfire."

God, she really could use another drink.

"And you guys in back might want to radio in for a couple ambulances, while your fingers still aren't broken," she growled at the pack of officers.
