It's just nice to reaffirm that New Vegas is still in the canon. You know I bet Bethesda could win a LOT of fans back by remaking New Vegas.

If they remade New Vegas, it literally be the exact same game.

They are still using the same engine.

Heavily heavily modified. No seriously. Ive been playing new Vegas again. It's a rocky experience. Going back to older iterations of an engine is rough.

Also new Vegas was kind of ugly as sin. I had to get all sorts of mods before it looked okay.

It's not gameplay that is the problem. It's the business model. It's always been the business model.

Still the best modern Fallout by a country (roads) mile, though.

And really, I don't see how it not being pretty (and I disagree with you on that) makes it that worse of a game. It's not like 4 or 76 are particularly good looking either. And yeah, it's a bumpy experience, but it's still a really fun one.

Also, don't give Bethesda ideas. They'll find a way to remake the game in the same engine and still end up with more bugs and glitches than the original game somehow.

If Obsidian can't remake New Vegas and do it justice like they always wanted to, Arkane's my top pick.

And the engine? I want a modified id tech 7 used for DOOM Eternal for open world rpg environments. Give the brilliant minds at id funding and time to make a proper working engine and not ham it in like Bioware did with frostbite for Anthem and we're good to go

Attempting to remake New Vegas would lead to nothing but bad publicity for Bethesda. They'd lose with the announcement.

I am not sure. Most of the bugs and glitches came from the rushed production and the development team's unfamiliarity with the engine. The remake would be better optimized, I'd hope. I wouldn't mind the sprinting and some of the newer perks, like being able to see the arc for thrown weapons.

I do hate the Survival mode being tied to difficulty though. I hate doing half damage while taking double. I should be dealing double as well as receiving double.

Actually, if anybody was to remake that game, I'd like Obsidian to do it. Let them build the game they wanted to build instead of what they were forced to do with just 18 months. Use the same engine as Outer Worlds, since they're similar, and let them tell the story they'd wanted. I'd quite like to see that.

Unreal Engine 4? Seeing as it's an engine that can do almost everything, yeah.

I generally avoid buying remasters if I'm already very familiar with the source material. I have bought a couple remasters in the past and enjoyed them but in hindsight I can't really say that they were worthwhile purchases.

Heck, I'm still wondering if I should buy Dark Souls Remastered or not, and I'm a huge fan of the Souls games.

Yeah, generally speaking I find remasters or enhanced editions questionable purchases. Especially if it's doing less than the modding community has done.

[up][up][up]Oh yeah, they used Unrael, didn't they? I forget that. Still, if they know how to make a similar game in that, I'm still in. Obsidian's one of the best studios in the rpg business right now anyway.

[up][up]The Dark Souls Remastered one, specifically, I'd recommend solely for the fact that getting the original game to work on pc is a huge hassle that the remaster doesn't have.

There is a Fallout 4 mod in the works to basically turn it into a remake of FNV. I'm actually hoping someone makes a Tale-of-Two-Wastelands style mod, as F4 and NV are my two favorite Fallout games.

Has anyone tried to remake original Fallout 1 and 2 with isometric look and turn-based gameplay?

Obsidian can't remake Fallout New Vegas.

They have no legal rights to it anymore. Fallout never belonged to Obsidian; Black Isle developed the original games. Now Obsidian IS Black Isle de facto, but du jure, they were simply contractors to develop NV.

That doesn't matter though. The script is already written. The voicelines have already been recorded. If Obsidian could remake Fallout NV, then ANYONE could theoretically, develop a good remaster of New Vegas. The only benefit to Obsidian being the developers behind the remaster is PR, and the fact that they could change the ending to be better than just some text and image slides.

I do agree that an entirely new engine should be used to remaster NV.

I wish corpses would despawn faster in populated areas. In wilderness areas, I'd like them to despawn in stages, to simulate decomposition or something.

It's weird how sometimes some NPC you left dead outside a settlement in the beginning is sometimes still there a hundred days later...

but for whatever reason, other corpses you make in places that are inherently hostile to wildlife are munched by invisible critters.

Fallout 4's Covenant settlement comes to mind.

@blkwhtrbbt

Saying they can't remake Fallout: New Vegas is not precisely accurate. It only requires Bethesda to hire them again to make it. While this is improbable, it's improbable in the sense that having a specific meal on any given day or rolling a 1 on a six-sided die is improbable.

It wouldn't be out of left-field per se, it's just oddly specific. Essentially, it'd require Bethesda to want to remake Fallout: New Vegas, decide to hire someone else to do it, decide Obsidian would be great, and for Obsidian to accept the offer. None of these events are especially unlikely, it's just unlikely they'd all happen at once.

Bethesda stiffed Obsidian before. Also, yes, Beth could absolutely hire Obsidian to remake New Vegas

But my general impression is that Obsidian are done with New Vegas and would like to explore newer original IP. To be honest im actually fascinated by F4NV. The gameplay footage looks thoroughly promising. I AM sad that it's illegal to just harvest the already recorded audio assets though. I suppose if they ARE hiring new voice actors, they can replace Matthew Perry's god awful lines.

Also am i crazy or are some of the NPCs Gaara?

That's kinda shitty of people. Criticize a person for buying into that service all you want, but don't gang up just to stop them from enjoying their game.
Seeing how its become pay to win with the fact you can go to private servers gear yourself out with ease, people ganging up on you is pragmatic.

if anything its Bethesda's fault for giving you an icon intended to essentially show off to other players that you are special in a baldfaced attempt to drive sales, thereby singling you out right away.

Honestly, 76 was never going to work. VATS doesn't make sense in an open world MMO. Might work for an instanced dungeon like in Warframe but there's basically no point in using it without at least a slow-mo mechanic. Likewise, shooter mechanics are very lag dependent and if your dealing with hundreds of players continent or even worldwide you get network issues. Compound this with a persistent world and the gradually increasing netcode requirements and 76 simply could not have functioned as Bethesda promised.

I'm not mad about that. I'm just mad about how Bethesda kept making promises and failed to keep them again and again and again. It creates the image that Bethesda doesn't keep it's promises and if a company doesn't keep it's promises then it is perfectly reasonable not to pay up front.

Not even technical promises. Like, if they failed to deliver ogn something, that'd be one thing. But to promise no pay to win and then to do shit like this...
