Good on CR.
Yeah, I'm getting that impression, too.
Guess that confirms that Cruchyroll's staff doesn't watch the things they add to their service.

The issue is they didn't give people the heads up. That's why this came out. However, it's just one of Crunchyroll's very odd unprofessional PR gaffs they made as of late. What prideful business doesn't watch the very stuff they run their service on??

Seriously, they'd have to have completely ignored the fandom as well. Just read a few Youtube comments on the trailers that were released, or just do a general search for it, should have clued them in, even if they couldn't be assed to watch at least the first episode.
It would be interesting if a Fantasy Pantheon had deities that were like the Egyptian and Norse one where the emphasis on chaos and order were a thing. Like there would be some Gods that are labeled as either Chaotic or Orderly. That way you can have a race that can be chaotic in structure, but still have the ability to be either good, neutral, or evil.
Also if there is ogres in this setting. Orcs are bound to show up somehow.
Haven't seen orcs as of yet in the light novel. I assume it's because the higher level forms of goblins more or less fill that slot. Hobgoblins and goblin champions are basically orcs.
You never know. If Ogres show up, why not orcs. I think they could make the orcs different from ogres in a way.
Apparently CR rated it TV-PG at first. Oh, yeah, I can see the backlash against them for not doing the proper research on a show whose first episode is basically "My edgy DND campaign is a deconstruction of happy fantasy and you wouldn't get it, mom! here
The controversy is getting really volatile.
Both sides are pretty much slinging dirt at each other.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."This is as bad as when Blockbuster put hentai series next to 4kid dubbed series back when they were still running.
If the work has rape scenes you sure as shit better have a content warning. And not rate it PG. Crunchyroll failed to do due diligence.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAnd now because of their failure & irrepsonbility they created a massive shit-storm.
Things could have been better tempered or contained had they done their job correctly.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Now this is the definition of trying to cover your ass.
Funimation had it rated TV MA from the get go.
I'd say it's less "You're not allowed to dislike it" and more "Be aware of what you're going into and don't judge it from the first episode."
Despite what people on social media are saying the thing is just as much action and comedy as it is dark and horrific scenes, but those scenes aren't the main focus of it unlike multiple hentai and ecchi shows that are on Crunchyroll already.
I just now thought of it but adventures should really bring suicide packs.
Cause if your gonna die at least take em out with ya.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."People have every right to judge a series by how the writer and staff choose to introduce the viewer to it.
If they did exist they would probably cost too much for rookies.
The rookie team in the first chapter didn't even have enough money for healing potions and antidotes.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThere should be a starter pack for any rookies who are first going into the field.
It'd be a tough sell to whoever handles the Guild budget. Especially since there's no guarantee the rookie won't just take the pack and sell the contents without doing the actual quests.
Remember — while some rookies are decent folk, others are just in it to make money. Veterans are a bit better in this regard (though they still prioritize making a living) since the Guild takes character into account when promoting Adventurers.

Disgusted, but not surprisedPlus even with potions rookies have probably quite high mortality rate. So investing into someone who might be dead next day is not exactly most business like decision...
In general I kinda find Goblin Slayer's first chapter and episode to be bad because its also easily the darkest one so it comes across as being shocking for sake of being shocking.
I mean, first chapter/episode does three dark things in row: rape, mercy kill and child killing. While first one still unfortunately occasionally pops up(I don't know how many of those manga added though), I don't actually remember them mentioning the child killing part after this <_< (presumably because after doing it for shock once, doing it again wouldn't be as shocking)

GS puts its darkness up front just to make sure people aren't blindsided by it in the future.
Disgusted, but not surprised
It is a good thing that they're givung people a heads up now, even if it's a little late.
