And Luz would start as Joy but she would wind up shifting into Sadness by the third season.
Going along with that, Gus would also work better as sadness since we know he has self-esteem issues.

I can see Amity shifting to Joy while Luz is in her depression arc. Other than that, disgust suits her.

I honestly prefer this one they did where its more obvious which character Luz is
Honestly, I think they went with physically appearances rather than personalities. The tall skinny guy is Fear, the short guy is Anger, the short-haired slim girl is Joy, the chubby girl with glasses and long bluish hair is Sadness and the slim girl with long green hair is Disgust. The fact that some of them have also matching personalities is just a coincidence.

I cannot see Gus as anger. He’s too goofy. Maybe he could be fear, but not anger.
Then again, the whole group shuffles around depending on the point in the story.
