I don't think it's particularly likely that the non-Charles Martinet actors will be in it. They're almost certainly going to want some big name actors.

This song needs more love. But even then it won't stop people from moaning about this change. We can only hope they get sound-a-likes because really that's the main thing at the very least.
I don't even think they need to be sound-a-likes, they just need to suit Peach and Bowser.
EDIT: Obviously they shouldn't go in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION with the voices, but they have wiggle room, I think.

Only if Nintendo considers the movie as something totally separate from their game cast, like, they may consider them another version of their characters, much in the same way Disney considers the triplets from Ducktales 2017 to be separate from the triplets from Mickey & Friends proper (thus they have different voices).
Too bad Captain Lou is not alive anymore. He was the perfect voice for Mario.
I don't think that I could stand a whole Mario movie listening to Charles Martinet's Mario voice.
You could...
The longer he speaks, the lower his voice gets...already went through.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Martinet is a great voice. The issue is it works for quick dialogue/catchphrases, not for full out talking. Lou did a great job in having proper conversations.
So it's possible they might have him change his voice style a bit or have another actor for Mario/Luigi to make the flow of the scenes work better.
I said this in the Mario thread, but I'll say it again. If the voice director is good, and Martinet is allowed to act then the voice could work.
He already does change the way he speaks when doing lines...
And not just quotes, it's just so rare he ever delivers multiple full lines in one game.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The closest thing to himndoing full dislogue with the character was that one interview of Mario in a Mario Sports game where the character actually gets to talk in a full conversation.
Than again the same could be said for Tony Anselmo with Donald Duck, and boy we were proven he can act and carry full on conversations with the character as shown in the recent Ducktales reboot.
Though, it would be interesting if Mario and Luigi were given a Bronx accent like they did in the cartoons and live action movie. Hell, I actually prefer their voice from said live action movie over the official ones in the games.
That's extended dialogue...and I've discounted that example along with a certain other game when they were previously brought up because of him specifically attempting to keep up the falsetto and thickness of the accent the whole time. Which doesn't happen whenever he has full lines in other non-spinoff examples and sounds more natural as a result.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.A better example of what he sounds like when talking at length is any of those times he improvised as Mario for those events Nintendo does.
It would be hilarious if John Leguizamo voiced Luigi. :D Though given how he hates the old movie, I doubt he would accept the offer.
lol, the less this movie is like the old movie the better.
Well that's one thing we can all agree on, this movie will be ten times better than the live action movie. Then again it's not a huge accomplishment at that.
Watch any of the anime OVAs and see if their better than the live action movie.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Okay, okay, fair enough. Though if I'm honest the live action movie is pretty much in the so bad it's good territory especially when you have Dennis Hopper saying things like: "Bobomb" and "Monkey". As well as that pizza delivery scene that pretty much should speak for itself.
I just find the live action movie weird... heck, I find most western Mario adaptations weird. Note that this isn't a comment on how good or bad these are, just that they're... bizarre
Besides the official Nintendo Power comic, what other western Mario adaptations are there?
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The movie, the cartoon, there's a couple other comics.
I liked the old live action movie as it was a fun interpretation of things. Goombas were still devolved Toads. That makes perfect sense. They're both mushroom-related by design. Though that seems less intentional in Japan, as I don't remember Kuribo meaning some kind of mushroom? Mario has a girlfriend, so it makes sense Daisy was chosen. Now of course, can't say this was a great decision, as it made the whole Mushroom Kingdom plot weird(since the King should have Peach/Toadstool as the daughter, not Daisy). The devolution gun I actually didn't like much, especially its final usage, as that was a crappy end to Koopa. Although it is funny seeing Wart mentioned.
My only other issue was the Fungus was all the King, so the King coming back near the end... didn't have all the fungus disappear. Of course, out-of-universe, that's extremely hard to cleanup on the set. In-universe, it basically ignores a piece of the plot.
I never saw the OVA's, but eh. I saw the cartoon(finished it all), and it was silly in a fun way, but not super great. I do like how the dialogue sounded, not that it was good dialogue, but Mario sounded natural while talking a long time. It didn't sound off to me.
As for this, I hope it's really fun to watch. Much like the cartoon was. Silly but still enticing, and still had very serious moments.
Two woards, Milli Vanilli episode.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Toads are just mushroom people...
Goombas are actually mushrooms...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. It's not illogical to think mushrooms evolved to mushroom people. That's the point. It doesn't escape logical reasoning for how evolution works. Nobody's saying it's canon obviously, nor should it be. It's just not a leap of logic and works within the movie's scope of how evolution worked.
For a simple story, they really only need sound-a-likes for Peach, Toads, and Bowser.
Their voices change all the time, Mario and Luigi have the only consistent english VA.
