Some people are theorizing that Arval is the original god of Fodlan and the Agarthans before Sothis showed up and colonized it, and that Shez is to Arval what Byleth was to Sothis so I'd be surprised if we didn't get a more in-depth look at the Agarthans, including possibly Cornelia's "true" form.

So I’m reading up on effects characters inflict.

Hubert does the spikes of course with his dark magic.

Edelgard inflicte blaze, which makes enemies explode if she hits them enough.

Dimitri inflicts shock, and this can be passed on to enemies he isn’t hitting that are nearby.

Claude inflicts Shredded, which sends out wind attacks to hit enemies from the enemy inflicted with said ailment.

Hope the Golden Deer's trailer is tomorrow. The Black Eagles can wait their turn. lol

Plot twist, it's the Church units trailer next.

Jokes aside, yeah it's prolly the Golden Deer.

I do wonder if the church units will be playable at all, actually. Just having the three houses themselves is already 24 characters which is a beefy starting roster for a Warriors game, especially if there's gonna be reclassing mechanics. And then you have Shez and (probably) Byleth on top of that. Have we actually confirmed Byleth is playable and not just Lu Bu-ing it up as an NPC enemy?

I hope the church units are playable, of course, but I'd be genuinely surprised if Three Hopes' playable roster isn't smaller than Three Houses'. It's a lot harder to design a bunch of unique action game characters than it is to design a bunch of mechanically interchangeable RPG characters with largely shared animations.

It'd definitely feel a little odd for me if Byleth wasn't playable in Three Hopes. I'm still leaning towards them being playable, but it looks like we'll have to wait and see.

I'd be bummed if Byleth isn't playable, I still prefer Male Byleth over all the other options.

But if he's going to be a fight, then I hope it'll be a great one, I relish the challenge.

Oh yeah, I'm absolutely hoping they play up Byleth's reputation as the Ashen Demon and let us feel how it is to be on the opposite side of that for once. I'm hoping they go full Lu Bu with them.

Black Eagles today, huh? I guess they really are saving the best for last.

I really like these designs for Lindhardt and Dorothea. Petra's is also nice as well.

It's also nice to hear "I AM FERDINAND VON AEGIR!" I really hope Kametz's cancer treatment is going well; he was a joy to listen to in Three Houses.

Well we know Dimitri tries to kill Claude during a cutscene. So the Blue Lions might fight the Golden Deer in another Battle of Gronder situation.

Man, I hope we do get a map reminiscent of the Battle of Gronder, if not the Battle of Gronder. It would be really cool to see in a real-time action game compared to a turn-based SRPG.

Just a big, messy three-way fight between the factions, with all the wartime tension finally boiling over into absolute chaos. It's my favorite (and the most iconic IMO) part of the original game and I'm still grumpy it only happens in 2/4 routes instead of all of them.

Hilda charge attack drags enemies near her.

Dedue charge attack for a powerful strike in a wide area.

Annette’s effects are random

Ashe launches enemies upwards.

Sylvain has increased range and deals more damage the more he attacks

Mercedes heals Allie’s while unleashing light attacks on nearby enemies.

Felix attack speed increases the more enemy attacks he dodges.

Ingrid unleashes a range of ice upon an area with her wind attacks.

Dorothea releases sound waves that can combine to make different element explosions.

Sylvain's description sounds like it just means the later attacks in his combo chains have longer reach and power than the early ones, incentivizing full combos moreso than other characters.

But it could be a literal range/power-boosting mechanic too, I guess.

If Sylvain's isn't limited to doing long combos, and it's just a buff for attacking a lot, period, then I know who I'm going to be looking for an infinite for right away.

Huh....I would've thought Sylvain's special ability would've been Felix's since I always figured Felix to be the ATATATATA-type like Caspar.

Felix's special ability makes me feel like that'd be more of a Petra thing since assassin.

Felix's attitude toward combat is a lot less YOLO than Caspars. Increased attack speed on dodge seems like a fair combination of his personal skill from 3H proper, and the Swordmaster's finesse style (going on the assumption that they're going to lean into the dev-preferred classes even if the characters end up being able to reclass to whatever). Assuming crits aren't a thing in Three Hopes, I'd expect them to translate Petra's personal to doing increasingly greater damage to sufficiently wounded enemies (or maybe make it so that hitting wounded enemies charges the musou gauge faster).

Annette and Dorothea have the same class as mage. Seems they'll have an extra ability in their preferred classes. Dorothea's description mentions that Dorothea can create musical orbs around her that causes explosions of different elements whereas Annette basically has rally or self-rally -"The effect is random, but potent, such as boosting critical rate or adding elements to attacks"

Kinda suprising they didn't turn Dorothea into a Dancer class and have her use a sword and magic. I wonder if they'll have Marianne in the dancer class considering what Heroes did with Marianne plus Marianne's Holy Relic is a sword but she's magic heavy. That'd be interesting.

Also Sylvain is a Cavalier while Ferdinand is a Holy Knight.

I'm guessing Bernadetta is a sniper, Linhardt is a bishop and Petra is an assassin.

That does sound like Sylvain gets a buff that then drops if he gets hit, so man, definitely looking for that infinite for him. Kinda weird that they didn't give the "drops if interrupted" effect to Sylvain, though, since Ferd has Confidence that would have translated quite nicely into that.

Ferd preferring Holy Knight is also one hell of a take.

Treating Cavalier and Holy Knight side-by-side like that makes it sound like there won't really be promotion "tiers" like Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master classes.

Cavalier, Holy Knight, and maybe Dark Knight (Lorenz?) will just be three different lance cavalry movesets, rather than one promoting into the other or anything like that. Though maybe Dark Knight will focus more on tomes than the lance itself, being more akin to Leo/Elise's moveset from FEW.
