Combat Class

Ieria did in fact hear Velos call her name and gave the boy a small smirk from within the depths of her hood and stepped into the circle, her bow already out. "Sure thing, Sugah. If you wanna dance, I'm happy to be your partner." She teased. "I haven't had any good exercise since I got here. So let's get started while everyone else is still deciding."

Combat Class

Pius had been sitting with his team, observing the class silently when someone spoke his name. He wasn't expecting people, especially strangers, to want to duel him specifically right off the bat for combat training. Still, it seemed impolite to refuse the challenge when he had nothing else to do and his would-be opponent did seem quite ready for a fight, so he nodded in reply and awaited his turn in the arena.

Gym class, but with violence

With the announcement that this class would be focused on dueling a fellow student, Axel took a moment to kneel down beside Gustavus and began murmuring a few orders into the dog's audio receptors "Gustavus, engage rest mode, do not engage any hostiles until given the orders to do so from my voiceprint, ignore all overrides until the order to exit rest mode is given by me." With that, the robotic dog simply knelt down before transitioning to a resting position similar to how any other dog might curl up for a nap and effectively shut down.

With Gustavus dealt with, Axel pulled Conqueror out of the loop on his belt and leaned it against his dog and simply left Lawbringer in its holster on Gustavus' back. If he was fighting anyone or anything that had some intent to kill him, Axel would have been more than happy to use his weapons, but, he assumed that none of his classmates had intent to kill him (or if it reached that point, someone would no doubt step in), so that wouldn't be a problem for him. Axel also didn't really want to risk hurting his opponent too seriously or accidentally missing and shooting any bystanders, so he would simply use his fists for the time being (he also saw it as a fantastic opportunity to potentially work on disarming violent armed suspects if he did end up following in the family profession upon graduation).

With Gustavus and any other potential dangers out of the way, Axel cast his coat aside and rolled up his sleeves before announcing "Ready for combat. Taking on all comers, please don't be shy my friends!" Axel would say, beaming all the while.

Combat Class

It was tempting to try and have a date fight with Bianca, but Blaze wasn't here for flirting. He had to learn the most about the combat ability of his classmates, so he and they could gel together as best as possible. If Axel was offering, then Blaze wasn't going to say no.

"I'll take you up on that offer." He said with a smile, rolling his shoulders. "I can see why you're not using the pupper, but why not the weapons?" He asked, gesturing to Conqueror and Lawbringer left with the robodog.

Combat class

Axel shrugged "I don't care for the idea of using firearms on people, partially because it's how I was raised and partially because if I miss, I could hit someone else and seriously wound them if they've already been through the wringer. As for my breaching tool, it's a tool that can be used for combat, but I dislike using it as such. So, I will use my fists and that is all I should need. And besides, it appears that you are unarmed as well, so it's only sporting that we fight on equal footing." Axel finished and smiled confidently. He'd had a fair bit of hand to hand combat training from the same schools his parents and siblings had, but he wasn't exactly an expert in the field, worst case he'd just learn how to tussle with another style.

Approaching Blaze and clapping him on the shoulder, Axel said "Come my friend, let's step into the ring!"

Velos vs Ieria: Archers Duel

“Alright,” Velos said to Ieria, stepping into the ring and snapping together the two halves of his bow. He pulled out an arrow – one filled with ice dust, as Ieria might notice – and drew it, making sure not to release it.

“After you.”

Dante vs Pius: Divine Wrath

Dante looked rather serious, pulling down the hood of his outfit as he entered the ring. He brushed aside his bangs and kept his gaze on Pius as his partner also entered. His other hand currently gripped the handle of what seemed to be a giant metal cross, although Pius would probably notice a trigger by the bolster.

“…So,” he finally said somewhat stoically, with hints of curiosity. “Shall we keep this to a melee duel? Or is your lance capable of ranged attacks as well?”

Eachiun and Ferg, go ahead and start your duel. Same goes for everyone else. Let’s try to get this done faster than initiation!

Blaze v. Axel

"Whatever you say." He must have been confident, taking on a martial artist like himself with nothing but bare hands. Blaze followed, stepping into the ring, rolling his shoulders idly.

Once they were both ready to fight, the redhead simply assumed a stance some might know as Hitman. His right hand hung near the waist, moving back and forth like a pendulum in a steady rhythm while the left clung close to the guard. Blaze's eyes were set on Axel, inviting him to make a first move.

Combat Class - It's time to d-duel!

Bianca was pouting. Her new friends were challenged before she could say anything! And she had been looking forward to having fun with 'em in a spar too.

....Then again, this meant she could meet more new friends!

Immediately perking up, Bianca looked around the room. Her gauntlets were on her hands, but she was gonna drop them anyway. Cause, one, she didn't want to use her weapons on her friends and two, it was waaaay more fun to spar barehanded.

"HEEEEY! WHO DOESN'T HAVE A PARTNER YET?! LET'S FIGHT UMU!" the blonde yelled out at the top of her lungs.

Meanwhile, next to Natalie and watching her team's antics with a soft, fond, smile, a tall and elegant looking young woman turned to the one who challenged her.

Octavia Noir brushed her jet black hair aside, green eyes looking at Natalie, smile still on her face.

"Well, I certainly do not have any objections. If you are sure, then I humbly accept your challenge."

She removed a gleaming black scythe from a magnetic holder on her back and tapped it into the ground in a quick flourish.

First Day

At the first opportunity presented, Sumi made her way to the student services office and found her red-rimmed reading glasses pretty much intact at the lost and found.

Sumi showed up for classes seeming less grumpy than usual. Her (relative) good mood persisted into combat class, where it wore off. Sumi nervously shrank into her chair, rigid and unmoving, eyes on the whip-crack of Goodwitch's riding crop.

Sumi looked down at her lap.

I'll probably get picked last.

In reality though, Sumi faced the exact opposite dilemma when Snowy jumped out of her seat and declared her intention to fight Sumi. Sumi snapped to attention, head whipping back and forth with fear and confusion.

"Me?!" she said.

Oh god. Oh no. Isn't that the leader of Team SAND? The strongest? The smartest?! Why me?

"Ah—um—uh—"

Does she want an easy win?

Sumi stood, fists clenched with grim determination.

I won't give it to her.

"Okay. I accept."

Archer Duel

Ieria let out a small chuckle and gave Velos a shallow bow. "It's rare for my challengers to be such gentlemen. It's a welcome change of pace." as she spoke, Ieria's hand reached down, gripping her knife.

As she stood, she flug the knife underhand at Velos's chest before dodging left and tossing a darkness grenade. Then she ducked and drew and knocked an explosive arrow, waiting to see his reaction.

Divine Wrath

"Dies Irae is capable of plenty," Pius replied, a small boast of his weapon's abilities as he stood opposite of Dante. His weapon was in its halves, ready to be combined or remain separate as this battle would require. "And yours?"

Natalie vs Octavia: NPC fight?

“Alright,” Natalie answered, taking her shield off the holster off her back and unsheathing a blue crystal-esque blade from within. With the press of a button on the holster, the shield began to float at approximately at her chest level.

“Shall we begin?”

Snowy vs Sumi: Black Cat Luck Strikes Again!

Snowy was already in the arena, brightening up as Sumi accepted her challenge. At first glance, Sumi would have been right in being wary of her. Between a pitch-black dress, red eyes, and an oddly-shaped sword in her hilt,◊ she definitely was intimidating.

Of course, said first impression was probably shattered when she started bouncing in place like a toddler in the middle of a sugar high.

“Omigosh, this is so exciting!” Snowy rapid-fired, doing a quick jump in the air as her opponent entered the field. “My first duel on campus, and it’ll be to a fellow swordswoman! This is so cool! Most people just keep away from me, but you said yes! You must be a really great Huntress—”

“Snowy, we don’t have all day,” Goodwich said sternly.

“Sorry Ma’am!” Snowy responded sheepishly, before pulling out her sword from its hilt. “En garde!”

Sumi wouldn’t even have time to relax before the white-haired huntress ran towards her, thrusting her sword.

Velos vs Ieria: Archers Duel

What the—?

Velos acted quickly, stepping to the side as the knife flew back, and missing the bomb itself, though he wasn’t able to avoid being in the area of effect of the bomb. Unfortunately for Ieria, though, he… didn’t seem very affected by it, other than being slightly unnerved.

Was that a smoke grenade? he thought himself, once more drawing the arrow as he fought the impulse to cough. Or a grenade that ended up being a dud? He wasn’t eager to find out which was correct, though, and released the arrow, hoping to freeze the fellow archer and prevent her from doing any more sly moves.

Dante vs Pius: Divine Wrath

“Good,” Dante responded, picking it up so that the short end of the cross was aimed at Pius. “I would rather not send attacks you couldn’t defend yourself from.”

Pulling the trigger on the handle, he proceeded to fire a short but rapid burst of gunfire at Pius, indirectly answering the gray-eyed huntsman’s question.

This looks promising. Let's keep the ball rolling! ^-^

Archer Fight

Ieria was ready to move the moment she saw the arrow streaking towards her. Still it was close enough that she could feel the chill coming off it as she rolled to avoid it. "I hate the winter." She grumbled, firing the explosive arrow at the last place she saw Velos standing. Then she drew two more arrows from her quiver and fired them up in the air, hoping they would hit her opponent on the way down.

Combat Class.

Jayce glanced at Basil and Scarlett, arms folded. He'd have plenty of opportunities to spar with them but he wouldn't exactly object if either of them wanted to fight him.

There was Cinnabar from PAIK who was still waiting for a challenger, that made three potential options at the very least.

With the loudmouthed Bianca being last on the list of people he'd prefer to fight. Although that'd be less of an issue with her...attitude and more of what the rumors of her semblance was capable of caused the sharp-eyed man to cringe for a moment before adjusting his tie.

"...While I'd like to take the initiative and choose a partner for a friendly clash, I suppose I'll wait for a challenger. It'd be quite uncivil to interfere if anyone else had plans."

Snowy vs Sumi

Sumi tightened her hood over her head to restrict her view of the seats beside her as she stepped down into the arena. She bowed, stiffly—a sharp contrast to Snowy's bouncing demeanour. She seemed surprised at Snowy's comment, blushed, and sheepishly reached for the back of her neck.

"Th-thanks... I think," Sumi said. "I could only be so lucky, though."

Sumi's finger rested on Jinx's trigger as soon as Goodwitch gave the signal, and she lowered her stance.

"Y-yeah. En-en garde..."

A bang like a gunshot bounced around the room and Sumi met Snowy head on with her blade, so fast her hood snapped back off her head. The flash of movement changed seconds away from impact—Sumi's coursing aura rapidly inverted her gravity, arcing her over Snowy's head in one fluid motion. She flipped gravity again, with the intention of twirling around to swing Jinx at Snowy from behind.

Blaze v. Axel

Somewhat confused by the unorthodox stance, Axel took a moment to loosen up before testing the waters with a light jab to Blaze's face. Most of Axel's combat training wasn't focused around being the aggressor so right off the bat he was on shaky ground. But, whatever the case, he was going to take it as a learning experience, win or loss.
